Good morning!
CJ, you are so organized! A good idea to pull out the batting a day or so early so that it can relax. Do you buy your batting by the bolt or pre packaged? got a favorite batting? the Starlite pattern is so pretty. I hope that you are happy with the additional fabrics that you are adding to the quilt, and love it when you are done. Its good to hear too that you are happy with the Pat Sloan block- when you last checked in it sounded as though you were not sure you liked the fabrics. Cannot imagine being one of those using 30 or more different fabrics or even owning that many fat quarters. IMO some quilt patterns do lend themselves to a scrappy look. I agree with you and most of the time my eye looks for a cohesive look- and some quilt patterns really need a coordinated look. If I ever get the starlite quilt done its going to be a coordinated scrappy if that makes any sense. Hope you are staying cool. Its so sad when I see the ads on the Hallmark channel for Christmas movies starting in October- I enjoy the Christmas movies and love October weather. Just dislike the busyness of the school year sometimes.
Ruth, the 7th quilt from that book is probably my second favorite quilt in that book. I am curious to see how those patterns work out for me. Defrosting a freezer is a ton of work and I think I remember when you last took that job on. Glad its out of the way for you and you can focus on other things, like your next tote! Were you able to finish it?
The baby shower was ok. I do not like showers, always feel stupid at them, but this was pretty well run. Glad I was able to help Jane with it. Her daughter in law organized it and she did a nice job. I got there early, helped setting up and stayed a bit later to help clean up. Built a nice fire later on. A bit later I took a gamble and attended a free concert in the village. Good thing it was free- the band was ok just not my cup of tea. Last night I did finish the falling charms quilt and draped it over a chair in the living room. the silly kitten likes that quilt and decided to sleep in that chair last night.
Was able to turn the AC off and hope I can keep it off all day. Think showers are headed my way. Gotta try to get a walk in.
