I really think WW needs to look at how they handle fats (keto is a prime example of "not all fats are bad fats"). That's exactly what WW says and that is why saturated fat is part of the calculation and not total fat. But what they're missing is telling members to eat some good fat every day.

squid, I have a tablespoon of olive oil on my salad every night left over from the GHG's. I also have a tablespoon of PNB a day, don't know if that is good fat. I use fat free dairy.

I still get in most of the GHGβs. ITB still lists them and you can check them off.

I always feel like my day isn't complete unless I've had 5 fruits π₯ππππ and vegetables π
πππ₯¦π₯. It's ingrained in me.

No dairy here (except full fat cheese and some yogurt). It kills my tummy! Other than that, I still try to get all the other GHG in!

It is clear that after 6 years of SmartPoints it is time for a big change. While allowing for different versions was new a couple of years ago and a good thing, the way points were calculated has not changed at all over the years. Just what was 0 point on variation iterations and how many points you get.
I would be surprised if they got rid of points entirely. Ever since nutritional information starting being listed on food packages they have done some variation of points.
As for the GHGs I know most everyone here likes them and found them valuable. But, I have to say that back in the meetings I went to they were rarely talked about and no one took them seriously. They weren't considered mandatory. I never once thought that I wasn't on program if I didn't follow GHGs. I never followed them because I never had that much dairy. I think that for most members they aren't going to necessarily eat in a healthier way unless the program forces you to do so. This was one reason I think I did well on the exchange program.
That brings up another thing. Back then, stuff like cakes, cookies, candy, chips (i.e. junk) could be eaten but had to come out of your optional calories which were very limited. You could spend your main exchanges only on real food. Now, we can spend every last point on complete junk so long as we stay within our points. The easiest way to change that would be to require that certain foods could only be eaten using weekly points and not daily points. For example, the foods that really have no nutritional benefit could be like that. That would mean that daily points were used for real food. In addition to that, the plan I would like to see would be one that had offered several varieties of plans. There could be a low carb plan, a low fat plan, a balanced plan, etc. Then, how points were calculated would vary for each plan. You would get the same number of points regardless which plan you chose but how those points would be calculated would depend on the plan. I don't expect to see this as I understand the logistics would be more difficult. That said, I think it is easier now since WW pretty much assumes everyone either has an internet browser or the app and can calculate points.
Of course, the things I would like to see are never remotely close to what WW ends up doing.

You could spend your main exchanges only on real food. Before there was an exchange plan with optional calories, there were exchanges plans with no optional calories. You just didn't eat those kinds of foods. And before THAT, there was a plan that set out exactly what you could eat and were required to eat, with specifics about the quantities of those foods. There was a very long list of "illegal" foods. Ask me how I know. (First joined WW in 1971)

I still try to get in at least 2 teaspoons of olive oil a day and I do not count them. I used to follow Simply Filling and you did not need to count the first 2 teaspoons, so I still do that on Purple. I hope that when the plan changes that there is some version of Simply Filling/Core/Purple. I also hope they keep the points system. I was never very good at calorie counting. I guess it is a mental thing. I can leave uneaten points, but I struggle to leave uneaten calories.

There was a very long list of "illegal" foods. Ask me how I know. (First joined WW in 1971) It's interesting to look back. I came in in March 1997, exchange plan with 250 bonus calories to spend as you wish. I remember thinking I could have a snickers bar every day if I wanted to. I didnt, but knowing that gave me great power over the food devil lol. The points system gave us more freedom for sure, my original exchange plan was 4 breads, 5 proteins, 2 fats.. I was out of breads fast every day. Sure with points we can choose to spend them on junk, but the way they are pointed we'd be out of points really fast and starving by the end of the day, plus we know better, I think ww gives us a little credit in that department. How many meetings have we had about not bringing the junk foods into our houses in the first place? How many of us have said, I know WHAT to do, I just don't do it? Who says I'm going to join WW to lose weight and get healthier, pay them and eat my points in junk food? So WW puts it in our lap, we decide what we are willing to change and how we manage it. It's actually brilliant in my opnion. I do miss the GHG but truthfully that's all they were to me, I never held myself to fulfilling them. They were just there as a reminder, that's on me. As for plan changes I can't even guess what they might be up to but it sure makes me nervous, freestyle/blue fit me like a glove.

Jennifer, Hope Freestyle/Blue is still available in some form for you, also hope Green is available in some form for me. This all depends on who were the subjects of their surveys, and who are their testers and the feedback they get.

If their goal is to be personalized, then they shouldn't do away with plans but offer more. To compete with the other apps and such, they'll need more offerings.

bbbearsmom, Usually many WW coaches are testers but no coach in class has slipped and said anything. I'll ask this next week when I join virtual meetings if WW is planning changes to the current program later this year.

I wonder if theyβll finally chuck Smartpoints. This new plan will be interesting for sure, but Iβm glad I finally found a plan I like, Still, like many of you, I have decades long history with WW, and a part of me still holds on, even though Iβm no longer a member.
