Day 15 – Monitor Your Eating
Beck wants us to monitor our eating because:
It helps you remain accountable for what you actually eat. It helps you strengthen your motivation by having an opportunity to give yourself credit for eating according to your plan. It helps to build your confidence because you focus on how well you are following the plan you begin to believe you can stay on a diet. It helps you recognize and solve problems. When you review your eating plan each day you can see if you strayed from your eating plan and why and you can figure out how to fix the problem in the future.
To monitor you eating she says to:
Follow your food plan that you’ve made. Monitor you eating by noting* what you’ve eaten on your food plan. Give yourself credit every single time you stick to your food plan. Respond to sabotaging thoughts if you eat something you shouldn’t.
(*) How to make notes on your food plan:
Put a check mark next to the things you ate that were written on your plan. Cross out anything you had planned on eating but didn’t. Circle any food that you ate too much of and write down and circle any food you ate that you hadn’t planned on eating. Make the notes right after you eat so you don’t forget what you ate.
Do you plan out what you are going to eat ahead of time?
How do you keep track of what you eat?

I plan out my food ahead of time in the sense that I have some regular meals and snacks after all these years and choose from them. I keep track of what I eat/drink using the Weight Watchers app on my smart phone, and by tracking my calories in My Fitness Pal. I do it every day and feel I need to do it to keep me on track.

Do you plan out what you are going to eat ahead of time? * Definately, everyday.
How do you keep track of what you eat? * I journal at night before I go to bed for the next day and pre track when I get up in the morning on the WW app to earn blue dots everyday.

Do you plan out what you are going to eat ahead of time? I plan before I start cooking the meal...my husband and I usually discuss what lunch will be as we eat breakfast and then each eat what we want to for each meal anyway. He doesn't always want what I am having and vice versa.
How do you keep track of what you eat? I track on ITB, write it down and send it to my sister as well, and sometimes track it on paper but seem to be missing the evening meals many days recently though they are in ITB

I use I Track Bites and use the PP option, since that's what I'm following. It's an easy interface to use.

I use MFP and usually try and plan ahead. My husband has been out of town so it’s been a bit of a free for all.

lizlor, When I was growing up when my father was away on business trip my mom would fix things like scrambled eggs for dinner. Normally she made a full dinner every night.
