If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

New Challenge!
Labor of Love, July 7 - September 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
So why is it so hard? The mind set "I messed up today so might as well just finish the bottle or finish the bag of chipsâ has to be changed.
The purpose of this eight week challenge is to discover the reasons behind our drinking and do the hard work it takes to change the behavior. It is a journey of self discovery that you may or may not want to share. This can be painful, this can be bring up old memories, this can be too difficult to tackle. The reasons are so varied. But remember this is a safe place to vent and share and if you are not comfortable sharing here, feel free to use our private FB site (by invitation request).
So does anyone think that alcohol is your friend? Anyone think that the next morning just looks so much better after a night of drinking? Does drinking bring you serenity? So why do we drink?
Some people can have an easy time of giving it up but for most, it just isn't that easy. Many of us start off great and then hit the wall at 10 days. Have you tried to journal your feelings as each day progresses and see what happens when you hit that wall?
"I will let the serene moments wash over me. I will cherish them. They soften me. And the blows of today's tumultuous storm will be lessened."
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed.

Congratulations! Good morning all! Had a good time at choir rehearsal last night. I didn't have as much on a list to do yesterday and I realized that my thoughts were turning more and more toward A! So that is going to be key for me right now. I HAVE to stay busy! Today I'm going to help with the senior luncheon at church and then I need to do some HOA business. I've got a few other things on my list so I'm hoping that will keep my mind occupied! Coffee first and I'll be back. Murphy

July 7: ? 195 WI day Saturday July 14: July 21: July 28: August 4: August 11: August 18: August 25: September 1: Final Weigh In/September 4: Good morning all. One day at a time. The rain has stopped for now but still gray and wet out. Not sure what it's supposed to do today but sure was Loud last night. Made some of my goals yesterday and that's a start. Got my 10,000 steps, I've written down that I will do that 4 days a week and chose the days, M,W,F,Sa any other days will be a bonus, and I'm getting at least 64 oz of plain water a day, I fill a pitcher in the morning and pour it in my travel cup all day until it's gone. Then with an Iced tea, coffee, maybe a fizz water and a diet soda I figure I'm up to 100oz. Been sticking to one or no soda a day. I bounce back and forth with the AF but no wine in the house helps, yesterday I went upstairs at the witching hour and started two small knitting projects to keep busy. But then instead of making a dinner both DH and I just picked at leftovers in the fridge and that doesn't help my with points. So, back to find my Mojo on the Menominee river tomorrow and bring the foods I need to keep me on track. I'll stay up there until @ the 28th, then we'll all head back to Illinois for the 31st, it's my mom's cousins 100th birthday party. Will be good to see all the distant family. The party is being held outside at her house so hopefully we can still distance or wear a mask if feel it's necessary. Today is knitting, probably lunch out and then home to pack up my car, help DH with a car project before I leave and plant some rescued green beans I found at the nursery. Hope you all have a beautiful Thursday. Jan Murphy I so understand the boredom thoughts!!!! I'm trying to come up with a list or of things I can do when those crazy thoughts happen. I can walk, read, knit, journal, reread AE, I go on connect "dry" group, watch a movie, check in here, dance around upstairs, go for a drive. If I don't let it in the house it's not so bad, but DH always has beer and some days I even resort to that even when I don't like how bloated I feel or don't even enjoy the taste!! For too long it's just been too easy of an escape valve. We can stay strong and do this. Glad you had fun at choir and know you'll enjoy the senior luncheon. Cindy Hope DS interviews go well, who knows, maybe one of the jobs will surprise him. Hugs for DH anniversary. Not sure if the Coop will want member volunteer hours when they're open, some we've been at asked that in return for a discount on purchases. They are hiring for positions and that would maybe be fun.....for awhile Did you get to meet with the roofer? is the dish fixed? Go Bucks!!!!!!!!! GG Yay for the scale going down. Does it reinforce you wanting to try the new program or make you know WW can work when we work it?? Glad the PT said you were doing great. SOunds like DH is trying to get in all his "fun" before you put him on a diet ha ha It takes about 2 hours to get to the cabin from here. I usually take longer just because I stop in town, snoop around the Marina, get groceries etc. because once I'm out at the cabin it's @ 15 miles to the tiny town, one small grocery and a lot of bars, or @ 30 miles back to "civilization" for Walmart, laundry etc. I do go to the small town a few days a week to use the WiFi to check in, and the cabin has a land line. Cathy Glad you enjoyed being with your friends and hope you can add a few more in the next couple of weeks. I know when I'm really ready I will get back to work. I have to see it like a game with the scale, I'm out smarting it or something. Stay safe and well. Amy Glad the Dr put you back on the meds if that helps with the pain. Yesterday I did no Advil and still felt pretty good after walking, so cutting back unless I need it again. A PJ day sounds just fine. Hope you can get a good deal on the Fitbit. I finally have a few tomatoes that are getting ripe, but I'm afraid when i leave for the cabin DH will just let them wither away out on the vine. I may pick them and see if they'll ripen in the house up north!! I have 2 plants up there too so will see if there are any or if the animals have gotten them while I'm gone. Can't wait for my first fresh tomato! Liz and Carole Thinking of you, hope all is well.

July 7 start weight: 175.3 July 14: 174.9 July 21: July 28: August 4: August 11: August 18: August 25: September 1: Final Weigh In/September 4:
I did about an hour of stuff for work, then not much else was accomplished, other than putting out a second hummingbird feeder. They are emptying the one every day. We got a brief, but heavy bout of rain yesterday, about 0.6". I realized after dinner that I hadn't taken my pills in the morning. I took the Prednisone and skipped the rest. I'm glad I was able to sleep after taking the Prednisone so late.
I got up too late this morning to finish posting before taking DD to work. We walked at the lake, then came straight home so that I could do a quick report for work. Today is sunny and beautiful, with afternoon rain predicted again. I think I'm going to go get a haircut in a little while.
Jan- Yay for getting more steps, a new journal, healthy food at Costco. Safe travels to the cabin tomorrow. It sounds like you have a great plan to meet your goals. Hope you get that fresh tomato soon. I find I have to pick mine while they're still green at the top or the bottom have gets too mushy.
Vicki- Yay for being down 2# and getting your hair done.
Cindy- Hugs for your sleepless nights and the 6th anniversary of DH's passing. GL to DS with his interviews.
Cathy- Yay for being able to get together with your friends. DD likes her job a lot, she's working on her own more and working out her own routine.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. WTG keeping busy. Do you like doing any kind of needlework to keep you occupied?
Liz- Thinking of you.

I was able to help with the Senior luncheon and then got a call from the bank that my loan has been approved! So I have spent a couple of hours gathering the paperwork that I have to submit to them. I'm waiting on a call back right now to set a time to take the paperwork to the bank. I did to a little project in the laundry room. I had a cordless stick vacuum that was mounted on a rack on the wall and I took it down. Then had to repair the holes in the wall and I'm waiting on the spackle to dry so I can touch up the paint. Staying at least a little busy helps immensely with the thoughts in my head! I'm making plans to meet a friend for lunch tomorrow. Forgive the lack of personals right now. Hopefully will get back here this evening! Murphy

Hi girls. After exercising yesterday my leg was really sore. Itâs feeling better today. I turned on the 250 steps per hour on my Fitbit. I actually got 6 hours with them and might even make 3000 steps! I woke up at 5 this morning and couldnât get back to sleep. But I took a couple of naps today.
Amy: Your TOTD is why I use a pill box!
Murphy: Yay for the good news at the bank and for your luncheon today.
Jan: You know the way I think! Weâre going to try the new plan because DH is going to do it too. That was a lot of rain!
Cindy: I canât believe itâs been 6 years. Hugs!

A quick catch up...DH is back on the mend, out of ICU, and they got him up and walking, it looks like all his internal plumbing is A-OK! If all goes well, he will be coming home either Saturday or Sunday. They will be scheduling a visiting nurse to come in and show us how to give him a shot in his stomach to prevent blood clots. He will have to do this for 30 days. I still do not know what if any treatment plan is to be discussed.
Hoping to catch up with everyone when things slow down for me. Thank you again for all the love and well wishes!
