I haven't found anything currently available at the elibrary that sparks my interest. I have been browsing my basement library checking books that I have not yet read. I tried the first Ellen Hart/Jane Lawless book, HALLOWED MURDER, published 1989. I had never read her before. She is still writing. It was OK. I figured out the murderer which is never a good sign. She is based in Minnesota where I lived for 7 years. It was a kick to read about all the old places. My home town of Crystal even got a mention. It was the location of repugnant fundamentalist church but at least it got a mention. It was jarring that it seemed like every other character was rabidly homophobic. My how times have changed. Her sleuth is lesbian as is Hart.
I also read an old Kate Wilhelm, THE PRICE OF SILENCE, written in the early 90s. It was also just OK. The only other work by her that I've read was WHERE LATE THE SWEET BIRDS SANG (Sci-fi) which I recall being very good. She died in 2018.
Currently reading FLICKER by Theodore Roszak. The jack blurb reads: " A novel of superlative suspense in which innocence and evil flicker across the page like the play of light and dark on the silver screen." This one was published in 1991. I'm enjoying it and learning a lot about early cinema.
I realize these are not readily (or perhaps at all) available, but you never know. You might stumble across one of the authors at some point.

Had to quit reading THE LIES WITHIN. It was dragging so much I just got bored and didn't care anymore. Did the NO NO and checked out the ending and I already had figured it out and was happy to put it away. I am going to stick with the new books for now. the writing is so much different and I just can't muddle through so much description over and over again. I always want to say I Know I Know.!!
So today I am reading THE LAST NIGHT IN LONDON by Karen White. Two times periods, 1939 and 2019. I also have Nora Roberts LEGACY . Have been hearing a lot about this book. I don't usually read Nora's romance novels but like her series. But will try this one. Since my reading friend recommended it.

Iani: I have a lot of unread books in piles around the house. I hear about a book that strikes me and if I can get it for $4. or so on Thriftbooks, I buy it. I'm not sure what spurs me to finally read a book. I borrowed Oil and Marble, the book I'm reading now and I think that wanting to return a book.encourages me to read it sooner. If I own it, it is easier to put off reading it.

woolworker, yes, I have preordered two books: Megan Abbott's and John Connolly's latest. I know I will read them again and want to own them.
