If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

New Challenge!
Labor of Love, July 7 - September 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes “how can you love someone else if you can’t love yourself”.
There are many ways we don’t show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over “why did I drink too much” and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happier”. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isn’t here, so let’s deal with the present.
So why is it so hard? The mind set "I messed up today so might as well just finish the bottle or finish the bag of chips” has to be changed.
The purpose of this eight week challenge is to discover the reasons behind our drinking and do the hard work it takes to change the behavior. It is a journey of self discovery that you may or may not want to share. This can be painful, this can be bring up old memories, this can be too difficult to tackle. The reasons are so varied. But remember this is a safe place to vent and share and if you are not comfortable sharing here, feel free to use our private FB site (by invitation request).
So does anyone think that alcohol is your friend? Anyone think that the next morning just looks so much better after a night of drinking? Does drinking bring you serenity? So why do we drink?
Some people can have an easy time of giving it up but for most, it just isn't that easy. Many of us start off great and then hit the wall at 10 days. Have you tried to journal your feelings as each day progresses and see what happens when you hit that wall?
"I will let the serene moments wash over me. I will cherish them. They soften me. And the blows of today's tumultuous storm will be lessened."

It only took about 10 minutes to do the report the boss wanted, then I worked on preference cards for about an hour. Did some online shopping, then went for the haircut, and then on to Walmart. I was there for quite a while, I had a long shopping list. Made shrimp po' boys for dinner- yum! I don't think we got any rain yesterday- a first in a while.
Today is starting out sunny. Need to run the vacuum and may put together a shelving unit in the basement. Hoping to get a nap in at some point.
Murphy- Yay for helping out with the senior luncheon & getting approved for your loan. Enjoy your lunch with your friend today.
Jan- That's a lot of rain! Glad your basement is dry. Love your FB pics. I'm getting more FitPoints with the new Fitbit, I don't suppose it really matters though.
GG- WTG 6 hours of 250 steps! Yay for naps.
Liz- So glad to hear DH is doing better and may be home soon.
Cindy- Hugs!

Amy - yay for no rain! You know that anything with shrimp has to be good! LOL
Cindy - glad everything is ok! DS had been having job interviews? Hope they are promising. I still can't believe that so many were let go over that questionnaire! That just blows my mind.
Jan - your flowers certainly loved the rain! That is amazing that it was so hard that it came through the mail slot!!
Carole - how are things going at home?
Liz - I'm so happy that DH is doing well and there are plans for him to come home! Praying for no more complications!
GG - I guess that soreness is a good sign that you are building up the muscles again! When do you go to the PT center? Do you think they will have you start swimming again?
Haven't heard from my friend yet about lunch. I'll text her. I need to do a little work in the garage before it gets to hot out there. Staying busy is a good thing! LOL. Everyone have a great day! Murphy

Good morning! DH has his cell phone on now, and he woke me up at 5:30 AM yesterday morning to see what I was doing, LOL! He called several times, they have had him up and walking during the day, and he had fish for dinner, which he said was good. I need to do a huge grocery shopping but I don't know what he can or cannot eat. Today, I don't have to be at DD's until 11:30 and she only has one meeting that she needs me there to watch Isabel. I will probably pick up a few of the groceries that I need for me to get BOT. When I worked, I had everything planned out for the week, and I miss that structure. I am going to have to figure out a way to bring back some of that structure into my life.
With the spreading of the Delta variant, I am so worried about my kids not getting vaccinated. DS is just petrified because he does have a few friends that are health care providers and they have been telling him some nightmare stories about side effects from the vaccines, more so the J & J and Moderna. He has just gone through so many surgeries, and chemo, he thinks with "Murphy's Law" that he would be the one that would have a major side effect. However, he did say that if he were to get the vaccine, he would get the Phizer. So fingers are crossed that he will. As far as DD, she listens to her mule headed husband that is just one of those people that thinks he is right about everything and refuses to get the vaccine. She has lost common sense since she married him. I am hoping that her baby's pediatrician, which was also DD's can get through to her. DD always trusted her and hoping she can be convinced, especially for the baby's sake. I did tell her that she doesn't want Isabel to be without a mother!
Amy~ How is DD liking her job? Sounds like you had a productive day yesterday!
Murphy~ Yay for getting approved for the refinance. Enjoy your lunch with your friend!
Jan~ Glad to hear your foot is getting better. Did you ever figure out what it is?
GG~ Woohoo for the weight loss, and glad to see that you are on the mend!
Carole~ Hope things can work out between you and your DH. Mine has been a miserable marriage for 43 years; I should have left a long time ago. Don't waste the rest of your life if your marriage can't be saved. I hope I have not crossed the line. But as time went on for me, I became more resentful and bitter that I allowed life to pass me by. Now, we are just at the point of two people living together. I think he came to his senses and really started to be helpful when I fell and broke my elbow and wrist. Sometimes I think too little, too late.
Cathy~ Although the transmission rate is fairly low in Massachusetts and I am fully vaccinated, I still wear a mask when I go into the stores, better to be safe than sorry. Glad you were able to see a few of your friends.
Cindy~ Hugs and love to you and your DS. Good luck with his interviews!
Need to get a second cup of coffee, have a great Friday!!

Time Management Accountability 4 Need to get a to do list started, not get hooked back into the screen Labor of Loving yourself first! July 7: ? 195 WI day Saturday July 14: 195.7 July 21: July 28: August 4: August 11: August 18: August 25: September 1: Final Weigh In/September 4: Good morning. Charging my fitbit, supposed to be a 10,000 step day and I'll have to work at it with the car sitting and driving. Did WI today as I won't have internet for tomorrow, or until I go back to town this next week. Not pretty, but could be worse after all the snacking and sweets from this week. I'm ready to be back up north for a bit, get away from the TV, screens, do some crafts and projects. I have new shelf paper to put in all the cupboards, need to sort a lot of pots and pans etc because all furniture has to be moved for getting new floors, may as weed out old glassware etc while we're at it. But also planning some fun time when my cousin comes up. Maybe a river float or at least get the kayaks to the beach. Bringing a new stack of books and will be taking photos. This weekend is the county fair up there so will go to that tomorrow. Just a really small affair but I like to look at the 4-H exhibits and the animals. Hope you all have a great weekend, I'll check in when I can. A good time for me to be BOT and finish out the month on a better note. Jan Murphy Hope you get to have lunch with your friend, BEWARE of the pie ha ha Yay for getting your loan and the refinance. Stay cool. Amy Wonder why FB is doing more AP? Yay for a haircut and not having to work too long. Shrimp sounds good, I know I have some frozen up north, maybe thaw some for tomorrow. Tonight is chicken, green beans and corn, all that was supposed to be eaten here before getting so far off track. Have fun with DS tonight. Liz Good to hear DH is doing better and you have a date for coming home. Glad the home nurse will come to check on him. Hope your kids will decide to get the vaccine but I know everyone has different feelings about it. I agree about the structure, you will feel better when you feel like you have that control back. I'm sure my toe joint pain was gout. Eating a bit better but mostly I think the Advil helped. Moves now and doesn't hurt. Hugs GG Keep up the good work, baby steps and build up those muscles. Yesterday was the total case of not checking points before ordering at a restaurant. Guess I figure one piece of that pie in the last 30 years isn't a deal breaker. I just remember having it once with my dad at Baker's Square, he had told me how yummy it was. And if I'd known the points I still would have wanted it and just not enjoyed it as much feeling guilty while eating it On to another day. Will you be making the trek to the grocery store soon? Cindy Glad all is well. Hi to all.

Hi girls! Yesterday I did hit 3000 steps and I had 6/9 hours with 250 steps. Today I’m going for 9/9. I took a shower this morning all by myself and fixed my hair afterwards. It’s amazing how tiring it was! DD messaged me and said she read the book How to Babysit a Grandma to Rylee and afterwards, she said, I miss her. I want to be there! Isn’t that sweet? She’s planning on coming down for a bit this weekend.
Cindy: Glad all is well.
Amy:I think you do a lot even on days when you think you don’t!
Liz: I’m glad DH is doing so well! I had the opposite result from not leaving DH so many years ago. I’m so thankful I didn’t! My life would have been so different and not in a good way!
Murphy: What did you have for lunch? I added a piece of bacon to a turkey sandwich. Such a small difference with such a yummy change!!
Jan: Enjoy! We always miss you when you are gone!
Cathy: That sounds like a lot of wheat!
