Day 17 – End Overeating
Today we talk about overeating, when you eat more than you planned, or eat past fullness. Beck wants you to practice overeating by putting more food on your plate than you plan to eat. At the meal push the extra aside and only eat what you planned. Counter any thoughts you have about eating the extra food. At the end of the meal throw the extra away or save it for another meal.
How do you handle situations when there is too much food on your plate such as in a restaurant or if someone served you at a dinner party?

I plan on doing this tomorrow. It is a good exercise for me to do because I've joined the "clean plate" club lately and sometimes eat too much. It is hard for me to leave food behind.

I should have read this BEFORE lunch! I had a portion, liked it and then...finished what I should have saved for tomorrow. I won't put MORE on the plate tomorrow but will put one portion on and stop...even if I want more

I'm not comfortable enough yet to do this. I could maybe try it with some zero point fruit, but anything else would be difficult. I prefer doing this before I start my meal. It's easier to cut something in half and put the other half away than to have it sitting there on my plate. I also like this for dining out, order a to-go box with the meal, pack the rest up, and then feel free to clean the plate. I was successful at breakfast this morning. Resisted taking seconds because I listened to my body and was satisfied.

Hah! I did this last night because we had a GIANT pizza that Mr. Lani just had to try - new pizza place in town. And it only comes in one size - 16 inches. I had two slices, skipped the chips and came in at 225 calories under plan. Boo-yah!
Now we have leftovers, but I can fit them into my plan today.

I went out to breakfast with my friend and didn't clean my plate. I brought the leftovers home to plan into another meal.

I sort of did this last night with our weekly Friday night take out. I dished out my serving, and then finished and was satisfied but not uncomfortably full, and then that was it. My plate went into the sink and I was done. I have enough for another meal now.

How do you handle situations when there is too much food on your plate such as in a restaurant or if someone served you at a dinner party? I usually don't find myself in the above situations because of the pandemic but I've listed below situations I do encounter. Eating out: * If we go to the drive in I can ask for a box when ordering my food and box half before eating. * When eating at drive in share food like large onion rings as one is enough I don't need to eat three. * Order first so I get only what I've pre journaled. * Don't go starved or I will over eat At home: * Crucial to journal amount of food allowed and stick to it. * Dish up my food in the kitchen and put remainder away before eating * Always sit to eat, no standing.
