Today is the day we give ourselves credit for what we did this week, and give gratitude.

This week I take credit for getting to my in-person WW meeting, tracking, weighing and measuring, keeping the right food in the house, keeping up with my online support groups, exercising, and doing my meditation. I have gratitude for being able to go out to breakfast with my friend, and having a nice phone call with each of my sister-in-laws.

Credit for tracking everything I ate (even though I went beyond my points allowances), for exercising 4/7 days, and for weighing in at a WW Center for July.

How much do you think about food and eating?

I don't think a lot about food because I lost my food imagination, but if I trigger and get an obsessive craving it can be on my mind for a while. I have a routine to my eating and eat mostly the same things so I'm not thinking about what to have for a meal, I go to my standards.

My goals for the week are to attend an in-person Weight Watchers meeting, track, weigh and measure, keep the right food in the house, keep up with my online support groups, exercise, and meditate. My me-time is my computer, reading, puzzle, exercise, and meditation time.

I spend a lot of time thinking about food and eating. I seem to always be trying to decide if I'm really hungry or not, about whether I'm satiated or not, about what I'm going to eat next, about what I've already eaten, about what food I'm going to shop for and then shopping for it, about preparing that food, and about what to do with left overs.

What is your history with WW (Weight Watchers)?

My brother and SIL did WW back in the late 60's and were successful on it. SIL was involved with it for years. So that is how I knew about it. I went to one meeting in the 1980's but didn't go back. I lost weight with them in 1991/1992 and 1996. Gained my weight back both times. This time I joined in 2006, lost 80 pounds, and have kept it off off for over 13 years. The last program I really liked was Points Plus but am doing okay with Green.

I first joined in 1971 after my first year of college. It was the first time I was overweight. My mother had a friend who knew Jean Nidetch from her neighborhood, and my mother said we're going to WW so I went. It was the start of many many years of losing and gaining weight with WW, on and off. I got to goal and Lifetime for the first time in 1990. I continued to lose and gain repeatedly for years.
This last time that I rejoined was in 2009. It took me 15 months to lose 35 pounds, but I got back to goal for the 4th time and have maintained since then. I learned to maintain for the first time, on the Points Plus plan. I've mostly been off WW again since then, but now when I'm not following WW, I'm following some other plan. I collected a free etools voucher every month starting from when they first began to issue them, and my free account now is good until July 2027. I like being able to check in at a WW center for free, and stay for a meeting if I feel like it.
Most recently, I've been experimenting with following WW green plan, the first time I've really followed WW since the end of Points Plus. I upped my points to maintaining level, and I'm finding that even if I go into negative weekly points a bit, I'm slowly losing weight.

Thursday, 07/22 What food do you consider fun food?

There's a chicken wrap I get when we do take-out that I consider fun. I consider sweets fun when I have them. Oh, and watermelon is fun in the summer.

Fun foods for me are sweets and fried foods. I don't eat them very often, especially the fried foods, which I eat rarely. I also consider any restaurant meal to be fun food, because someone else does the shopping, preparation, cooking and cleaning up. I have those once or twice a week.

07/23 – ““All too often when we eat, we’re also multitasking: watching TV, answering emails, scrolling through social media,” says Jess Glazer, a certified personal trainer and founder of FITtrips. “These habits are detrimental to having a strong, clear, healthy relationship with food, and they can hinder our ability to make dietary changes.” “In order to truly focus on what you’re eating, how much you’re eating, why you’re eating those specific foods and, most importantly, how those foods make you feel, you need to starve the distractions,” Glazer says. That means when you eat, just eat. “Focus on your food, the process it went through to end up on your plate, where it came from and how it nourishes you.” With this technique, you’re more likely to finish a meal feeling satiated.” What do you think of this approach?
