WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C118D10, 7 purple points and 723 calories + isolated birthday meal.
The good news: I stuck to my guns re tracking before and after meal.
The bad news: Ate much too much of the meal. I would have been happy with half the mac n cheese, half the creamed spinach, half the mini bread loaf and half the cheesecake. Unfortunately it was all too delicious and I ate all of the sides, all of the bread and more than half of the cheesecake. The two tails were well worth it but I also had about 1/3 of DH's filet mignon. Lesson learned for next time - Prepare my plate with sensible portions and deep six the rest before even starting to eat. I don't like to save it and louse up tomorrow as well so it was the garbage pail syndrome in spades.

It’s going to be a bright, sunny day with comfortable temps—oh how I wish I had another day off! I ran 10 miles yesterday for the first time in 5 years!! It wasn’t pretty but I got it done. The weather was perfect for it; it’s so much harder when it’s hot and humid.
Nancy, no regrets about your eating yesterday! You thoroughly enjoyed your birthday meal. If the food was mediocre and you continued eating, then that’s a different story.
Lori, it seems like a lot of restaurants scaled their menus back due to Covid. How was the service? Did they have enough people working?

Yesterday I made this “fake” potato salad - litecravings.com/cauliflower-potato-salad-with-bacon/I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was - Even DH tried it and said not bad....amazing what you can do with cauliflower Nancy, So Glad you enjoyed your Celebration meal! Sounds delicious!! Bravo for sticking with your plan. That is the key!! Pressure is on.,.hope you enjoy the fiber gourmet pasta as much as I do... Jan, Awesome run!!! Your doing so well with both maintaining and exercise! We went at an off time so service was good. Breakfast Sunday, you can tell they were scrambling due to short staff....so sad and crazy that they can’t get the staff they need due to gov’t giving away so much funds in the way they did...

Up 4 lbs this morning <g> You play, you pay.
Jan - I know how you'll be spending your retirement.
Lori - I hope so too. I'm really looking forward to adding the pasta to my regime. I'm getting a bit tired of the brown rice. I'm thinking 2 oz could be a mini meal for me with a fruit, and 1 oz could probably serve as a side. It's good you enjoyed the fake potato salad - something new to vary your menus. Do you ever have Thursdays off? Our new aide is looking for the extra hours.

Hi guys! Day 153. The weekend was fairly moderate: no exercise but I tracked. Saturday eating was pretty reasonable except for a wonderful diner lunch. Sunday eating was a little more indulgent but I ended the day with a very light, high-protein dinner. Considering I didn't really PLAN anything, I'm OK with how things went. We enjoyed visiting with our friends and were safe going and coming, so that's what I'm most thankful for.
I have my eating planned today and I did the rower this morning. I'm still reading The Diet Fix and listened to HSM (while I rowed) to get some inspiration. I'm checking out Cronometer, a tracking app similar to MFP. Coming at it from several directions!
Nancy: Looks like I missed your birthday - sounds delightful. And I know you're back on track.
Jan: Yes, I've been loving this cooler-than-normal July weather!
Lori: I wish I could find a fake pasta with few or no carbs. What's the carb reading on the one you guys are talking about?
TTYL. Thanks for being here!

Meg - The linguini has 41 carbs and 25 fiber, so 16 net carbs. I found this online "The key difference between total carbs and net carbs is that total carbs include all the different types of carb in a food or meal. These include starches, dietary fiber, and sugars. Net carbs, on the other hand, only include carbs that the body can fully digest into glucose" I don't know if that makes a difference to you. 2 slices of wonder bread, for example, has 24 carbs and 1 fiber so 23 net carbs. 2 slices of 647 bread, on the other hand, has 26 carbs and 14 fiber so 12 net carbs.
