WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C118D2, 25 purple points, 1488 calories, 78 grams protein, 41 grams fiber, line dancing. I'm obviously still off the beam a bit but nowhere near binge territory and everything tracked. Tonight will be k-closed!! Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I dodged a bullet yesterday. An early birthday gift was delivered for DH, a 4 layer German chocolate cake. He asked if I was going to have some, and I simply said that I don’t eat that kind of thing during the week. This cake is huge, so I know there will be some left to try this weekend.
Meg, I picked up a massage gun at Marshall’s several months ago. That’s been helping with the tightness in my calves. I also use a long band or towel, lie on my back, and hook my foot into the band/towel and stretch, pressing with my foot to avoid over stretching my Achilles’ tendon.
Hi to Kathy, Nancy, and Lori.

Day 156. Going strong. Of course I haven't had any special challenges yet, but I AM building some new habits.
Jan: Thanks. I have those bands but never remember to use them. More likely sloth than my poor memory. ;-)
Where's Kathy?
BBL.

Good morning!
Jan, Nice dodge....I probably would have said the same...lol
Nancy, I’ll bring any doubles I have so you can try. Looking forward to our get together. If you think out it, it takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound of body weight. Your 1700 calorie day was 400 more than normal...you get back to normal, it’s all good!! It’s when we don’t get back to our healthy habits that cause the problem...Just wondering what your protein count was that day...
Meg, Going Strong...building new healthy habits, Love it!! and you were just away for the weekend and you had a few sleepovers, I would call them special challenges and you got thru all of them!!! Bravo!!
DH and I are heading to meet friends for lunch and boat ride, then stay overnight at the Catskills. We’ll be back home late Friday and should have a nice quiet weekend.

Jan: I just have to ask: WHO sends a 4-layer German chocolate cake as a birthday present?! I am definitely moving in the wrong circles (or the right ones, depending on how healthy your perspective is).

Revised stats: 45 purple points, 2050 calories
Mortified to post the above stats. Another bingy night. Everything tracked. Hoping to be back on track today. Not sure what has changed but it is what it is.
Jan - Major kudos holding off on the cake. When I grow up, I want to be just like you. I do the same exercise for my achilles tendon. I rolled up a beach towel and my friend sewed it up so it stays together. I do it sitting up with my legs extended onto an ottoman. My doctor was explicit that I should use the towel and not a stretchy band. Also, I don't understand when you say "pressing my foot to avoid over stretching achilles tendon" I wonder if I'm doing it wrong. I thought we do it to stretch our achilles tendon. I sort of pull my lower foot/toes toward my body. Is that wrong? I mean I'm pulling it not pressing it.
Lori - For the two bad days my protein was 104 and 99. Do you get the skinny syrup at Amazon for about 9.99 a bottle? I was thinking of trying the vanilla next. The only thing I use it for is 1/2 Tbsp in my coffee instead of any other sweetener. I'll bring a few boxes of the linguini and we can decide if we want to trade any. Enjoy your lunch, boat ride and overnight. Sounds lovely.
