This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph, with the following 2021 Goals:
Carole: 1.) Journal Daily, thoughts, feelings, ideas 2.) Track daily, Good, Bad, Ugly, HONESTLY 3.) Move every day, 10-30 minutes, as able 4.) Limit/Reduce Alcohol, All of it! 5.) Be thankful for something - every day
Gabrielle 1. Wellness--take steps each day to address better wellness (moving, attention to my eating, getting sleep, etc.) 2. Debt-- continue to take steps to eliminate debt (including the kids college debt that we are covering) so that I have no debt when I retire 3. Connectedness-- each month have a plan to stay connected to those who I care about (maybe dinner once/month after COVID, Zoom, phone calls, etc.) 4. Creativity -- seek out projects that keep me using the creative side of my brain (knitting, paint parties?, etc.) 5. Journaling/Self-Awareness--find a way to journal my thoughts and to think through challenges and opportunities
Sue: 1. Get moving - plan to utilize my Cubii 3-5 times per week at least 2. Moderation - limiting junk, snacks, wine and all things I know that sabotage my success 3. Good morning - Thirsty Thursday... Need to keep the focus on more water here. Drinking water that is... but we may have actually been 24 hours with no rain - maybe - shhhh, let's not say it too loudly! It turned out to be a beautiful day yesterday -sunny, warm with a breeze. Just beautiful.
Work was "work", but not as many people calling me for "help" So I managed to get a few more backlogged things completed. I (myself) was having trouble focusing, and so MANY internet interruptions - Hoping today is much better in both regards!
I never did get here yesterday - so back to Tuesday!
Sue: SO nice that the kids can go outside and entertain themselves! Also good that Gloria could help you out so your work week ended as planned.
UGH Ken's cough is STILL hanging on! Even with the meds, he sounds awful! I made him message the doctor again - but he was told give it the 2 weeks! UGH - easy for HIM to say - HE doesn't have to be here listening to it - NON-STOP! Yeah, so much for sounding better - he did for the first day or two, now it seems back to normal! I suggested he go to CVS for a Covid Test, but he didn't... no surprise there!
Oh right... forgot... no masks = no contact! Yes so sad, but yes... they make their choices!
So nice to hear your DM wants pictures from the boys. Sending her a small bunch of photos sounds perfect.
My gosh you are keeping yourself and those boys busy this week!

Well WORK IT WEDNESDAY didn't go quite as planned... I did get 7 of 10 dots for moving, but slacked on water and tracking. Seriously I don't know what is "wrong" with me again. I have absolutely NO focus or motivation!
Gabrielle: I don't know how you all do it! Watching and worrying about your crops... not enough rain - too much rain - too hot - too cold - too smoky, I'd be a wreck by harvesting time! Hoping your nice weather of mid 90s continues for you. We are 56 this morning! Seems like it was a very short summer here... moving into Fall already!
Yes the work from home week is good. With Tracy gone too, it just seemed a good way to get caught up. It's not going quite as planned - too many people needing my "help", but at least I am home, and not sucked into all the drama in the office too!
Yikes, nope - no berries are worth rattlesnakes! LOL I am not a big berry fan anyway, but add snakes and ummm - no thanks!
Jenny: WOO HOO for no blockages!! When is the nuclear stress test scheduled?
Sue: Nice that the boys sat quietly reading so you could catch a few extra winks. Yes, the week is winding down quickly! I have no plans this weekend - not even sure about the girls coming up. They just spent 4 days together, so we'll see what they want to do!
I saw that PTown is back to mask advisory, due to the uptick in cases.
We may have picked the right year to do raised beds! LOL So many folks around here have waterlogged gardens - but ours is just fine. Being up off the ground, they drain well, and are not soaking. Ken's waterlogged tomato plants were transplanted, and it seems only 1 survived! We still have several more, so losing 2 was no biggie.
Yeah, I have pulled the rug up onto the table - it has dried out... eventually I hope to try power washing it, but if it doesn't clean, I will have to replace it. Mold is one of my allergies! It is outside, so I am sure it's not a huge deal - but it looks gross! LOL
Oh my.... those boys DO love their bugs!! Ewwww
Karen: {{{{hugs}}}} So much to deal with - but focus on YOU - you deserve this time to be you. Enjoy taking care of yourself - getting out on the water - snuggling with Eleanor.
I LOVE that you still try to get Anna to communicate. As long as it doesn't stay with you all day... hope you were still able to enjoy the day at the ballgame! Wow over 9# - growing BEAUTIFUL little girl ♥

OK My time is winding down... time to shower and get myself ready for another long day at work! Furnace guy is coming at 8 AM, annual cleaning/service. Tomorrow is broad band day - so work will be - whatever! LOL I will focus on my critical stuff and Emilie's morning work - to (hopefully) get it done before they come at noon. Since after that I have no clue how long I will be "off line"!
Sun is shining and it is still dry... today is looking promising! I am not holding my breath, but hoping for the best!
♥hugs♥

Good morning!
Feeling kind of warm again....not too warm (76 degrees) but it is 4:00 am and that seems warm to me! Thank you for the reminder to drink water Carole--I need to to that as well. I have noticed that I have been distracted at work and not as good about it. Yesterday went okay, some not-the-best eating later (early evening) but I know that it was because I had a call scheduled with my brother who is going through the divorce and he is asking for some financial help. It just makes me anxious as it is significant and I feel like, with my retirement date that I set being on the horizon, it makes me think twice. I have a few months to decide so we will see. Today will be better!
Carole: Thanks for starting us off....LOL, yes, the girls might be ready for some time apart. Heck, Jaclyn and Patti might be ready for the girls to have some time apart! LOL. Glad that you are having a good week...well, good for the most part! Hey, I think that we all go through those lack of motivation times. You'll come out of it! I am so sorry to hear about how bad Ken's cough is...and sorry that he won't get a COVID test. Would he do it if you told him that you are worried and it would help you worry less? Just one more piece of data, right? So glad that your garden is doing well! That is great news! I am NOT good with the crops, etc. and being worried....DH is much better with it all, but I feel like we all sense his stress (and I try to settle it). It is not for those who need to feel like they have control though! Hope that you have a great day, my friend...and some sunshine!
Sue: What a great time you are having with the boys---so much fun! I am going to have to try that zucchini bread with blueberries...sounds so yummy! How did the eggrolls come out? I wound up getting home late from work and had to jump on a call with my brother so we had to have a quick dinner. Yep, the farmer's life is not for the weak! Hope that you have a wonderful day!
Jenny: So glad that you got some good news about your heart and that they are being thorough. What a relief! Hope that the other appt is soon and you can really be at ease.
Karen-good to see you and glad to hear that you are still YOU...still letting Anna know that you are there. Eleanor sounds beautiful and healthy!
Okay, time to get moving. Have a good day ladies!

Morning Carole, Gabrielle and all to follow....boys slept in until after 7:30, have been fed, are getting dressed now, then some time outside in the cooler part of the day. After lunch we will do more crafts, paint and just veg waiting for Jason to call...then I will head down to the lot so the boys can pick their own corn for supper and plant the last batch of the season. Was going to do the egg rolls tonight but when Jason said the corn would be ready today we changed our plans and will grab a pizza on the way home and then the boys will have some corn on the cob....not sure Jason and I will get any but maybe it will be enough for just one!! I'm ready!!
Boys have now been sun-screened and are outside playing, their laundry is in the washer. I had told Hannah I would do it today so that when they got here they could just gather their stuff and head to DC instead of having to head back to Deb & Dave's to do the boys' laundry....since they only brought 1 week's worth of clothes to save suitcase space it needs to be done....and I want to make sure they get to visit as much as they can this trip so I'm happy to help her/them out. I told the boys they would have to help me fold this afternoon! They were not impressed but they said they would!!
Time to catch up a bit!
Karen...welcome back!! Sorry you are struggling again but you are right, grief, stress and all those things do come in waves and hit when you least expect it! Glad you are back on the wagon again!! Hope you find NOOM helpful for you. Glad you are finding things like the canning, yard work and of course kayaking to help distract you.
Makes me sad that Anna continues to just ignore you and not even acknowledge your "hello" at the Crawdad's game. Honestly...they BOTH need to grow up and realize that parents do the best they can and sometimes they do things that kids feel is smothering or controlling but it's all out of love and wanting the best for our kids. One day I hope she can just talk to you and tell you how she feel....I know my girls have commented on things I had done raising them that they felt was unfair and it's OK that they felt/feel that way but it was not meant that way and their feelings are valid but it is not a reason to shun anyone...it's a way of growing and when the time comes to have kids of their own approach things differently, the way THEY think is best for their kids. I will say, I do smile when I hear myself in the girls interactions with their boys...I guess I didn't do things all wrong but I do admit, sometimes I could have done things differently. Parenthood comes with no instruction manual and we just plod along do what we think is best. We take from our parents what we feel is valid and discard what we don't, then make our own way in parenthood.....it's a learning curve for every new parenthood. Hugs to you my friend!
Ah yes...Eleanor is growing like a weed! I love her newborn pictures. They just made me smile... Isn't it amazing how much love we have as grandparents for the precious gift of grandchildren. I have some friends that do not and will never have any grandchildren and I just wish they could have the opportunity to share the joys of grandparenthood....
Carole...thanks for starting us off today...I'm just getting ready to swap my coffee cup for my water tumbler...have been doing very well even with the boys here! I'm trying really hard to keep the "work week water routine" going even on a staycation!! So far, so good!!

Carole...YAY for 24 hours w/o rain. Hopefully you got outside at some point in your work day to enjoy it!! We were NOT supposed to get any rain yesterday and twice the rains came...first, the boys came in from outside and I figured the lake was off. Then the sun came out and the trip to the lake was back on!! Boys were excited! Then about an hour before Jason was to get home the skies opened up, temps dropped 8-10 degrees and the long faces made me sad...but again, the sun came back out we did get to head to the lake last night when Jason got home...spent about an hour there then the clouds rolled back in, no rain this time but it was chilly so the boys got out just to be safe...never know when the storms will blow in these days. Apparently the earliest one yesterday did some severe damage in the Gettysburg area but we just got some rumbles and a little rain but no harsh winds or rain. Some of the pictures were really scary!!
LOL...the boys just hollered in "Grandma, we see ripe blueberries, can we pick them"?? So they now have a bowl and are picking fresh blueberries to have with lunch. Kale also asked about all the green things in the one part of the garden..."are they weeds or plants"?? When I told them they were weeds and Grandpa needs to get them out he said "I work on some of them for Grandpa"!! Love the kid!!
Yes Carole...it is nice that the boys will entertain themselves and the fresh air never hurt any kid!! I know in the summer we were outside all day long....we came home at night when the street lights came on! Sorry Ken's cough is still terrible...I was hoping after you post the other day that the meds were working!! I'm still surprised they didn't do a COVID test just to be sure when he was at the doctor...that's pretty standard around here....even with Kellen's earache a couple weeks ago they automatically do a quick COVID test for all cold/infection symptoms.
Yes Carole...I am keeping them busy but also quiet time...when they are outside and busy I get a respite from the 9000 questions!! My brain gets so tired trying to keep up with all the questions, excuses, explanations, etc....Hannah warned me and she wasn't kidding! It was funny yesterday when we were FaceTiming with them I told Kale something and he said in the usual "preteen sass" ...."APPARENTLY!!" Hannah cracked up and said "it's so funny when that is NOT directed at me"!!
Funny Carole...but as much as you love being home to work...you always sound more focused and motivated on the weeks you are in the office. Getting out of the house forces you to actually plan for lunch and snacks, gives you a water routine, like the water bottle to and from work.....I know I am more focused during the work week. I'm sure this week was very productive at home without Tracy home...I know you often have to plan around her sleeping and her chattering!! Glad you are getting lots of things done and caught up!! Sorry people at work can still "find you" at home but like you said, no drama!!
LOL...it felt like an early fall morning here too but it is only a 1-2 respite from the HHH...the ugly summer weather is coming back on the weekend and all next week. I think the lowest temp in the 10 day forecast is 86° but the humidity will be oppressive!
WOW...I didn't hear that PTown reinstated the mask mandates...people are still "not getting it"!! It's like things got lifted and it was "business as usual" and people really didn't heed the cautions and recommendations for unvaccinated people and even vaccinated people in certain circumstances. The only city I had heard about was LA. Thankfully PA as a whole is doing OK and our county has been under 20 cases/day for over a month except for yesterday when it was 24....today it's back down to 18....I still see a fair number of masks and I saw a fair number at Lake Tobias too.

I agree Carole...raised beds are still doing great this year despite the rains in many areas. We have gotten "enough" rain at the lot but could use some more, especially on those HHH days....really does dry things out!! Sorry you lost one of Ken's waterlogged tomatoes but like you said, you have others so you should have plenty for the season. I need to remind Jason to check to one tomato plant in our yard...there are 3 ready to pick! Glad the rug dried out, hopefully the power washing will clean it! Even outside, if mold is one of your allergies, best to get rid of it if it can't be cleaned...no sense taking unnecessary chances.
LOL...yes Carole...the boys and bugs are magnets to each other. They found another one this morning...not sure what it so I told them to leave it alone!! I agree...EWWWW!!
Carole...hopefully your work day will be productive today so the Broad Band installation tomorrow won't cause too many issues getting the work for the week done. Bummer they didn't give you some idea as how much "offline" time you would have. Are there things you can do when you are offline?? So excited the Broad Band day has finally arrived!! You've been waiting long enough!!
Gabrielle...we haven't even hit 70° yet and it's 11:00am!! I think our high for today is only 80° and really low humidity so it actually feels cool! But as I already mentioned...the humidity and temperatures are going up from here so I will thoroughly enjoy it!! Sorry your water intake and food choices are a little "off" lately. I take it your DB is asking for actually money and not just financial advise as he transitions through the divorce. I get your hesitation and anxiety with your retirement plans already in motion. LOL...gardening, farming, etc is definitely NOT for anyone that needs to be in control!! So many variables that are totally out of your control!! Glad Ed has a better handle on his stress when it comes to the crops. Guess that's why he works the ranch and YOU are in education!!
As you might have read by now Gabrielle the egg rolls were to be tonight but due to the corn being ready, we are changing it up to pizza and corn on the cob!! Boys don't know and they will be so excited to pick their own corn and then husk and eat it!! Kale has been waiting since we were at the lot the other day, just hoping that he would get to have some. Jason did reassure him that IF he didn't get any this week, we would have some next week when they come for dinner! Now since we are having pizza tonight I need to rethink what we will have on Wednesday. I think I have a pork shoulder in the freezer so maybe I'll put that in the crockpot and make pulled pork sandwiches?? Easy, no muss, no fuss and will be ready when I get home...then Jason will husk the corn when he gets home or maybe he will wait and husk with the boys??
OK...time to throw the boys clothes in the dryer so they will be ready to fold after lunch. Have a great day all...waves to all I missed and all yet to pop in!

Lunch is done...the boys have folded their part of the laundry, I still have mine to fold but that will take about 5-10 minutes. Now they are getting in touch with their "inner Picasso"!! Kale is painting a watering can and flowers....Rowan is painting a chicken!! I made them take their shirts off so that they didn't get any paint on them...it will come off their bellies at shower time! LOL!!
Will be a little while before Jason calls so just a quiet afternoon of crafts and creativity!
