Kathy, are you still getting rain? That system hasn't moved much since yesterday. Bobby's son should know, and pancreatic cancer usually is pretty quick once it's diagnosed (Alex Trebek being the exception). He's really gone through a lot in the past couple of years. Thanks for the tip on FamilySearch.org. I've never heard of it. I caught a free weekend on Ancestry a few years ago and pulled some stuff off that was fascinating. I found some records from my grandmother's parents who emigrated from Austria when they arrived by boat in Baltimore in 1889. Three of four grandparents were 1st generation Americans. So I need some overseas resources if I will go any farther back on most of my line. DM's paternal side is going to be very challenging because her father was out of the picture when she was 7 years old, so I only knew DM's aunts on that side of the family. The cherry plums don't seem as sweet as a regular plum. They are also much to much, much smaller in size. I have some a little larger than a cherry up to almost the size of a small plum.
How are the eyes, Chele? We are still hazy today, so I bet you are as well. Will you go to YS tomorrow, given that you did so well earlier in the week at the orchard? Do you have plans for the weekend? I picked a couple of the Fooled You jalapenos this morning and they are as good as I remember--jalapeno flavor with no heat. I'll have to get more seeds next year. I think I will give up on zucchini next year. What I have grows these huge incredible leaves and the fruit get shaded out and don't grow well.
Linda, I wish my phone had a block caller button. That would be handy. I get a lot from the area code of my cell phone, which isn't the area code we now live in. So, unless it's a number I have in contacts, it's always spam. Publix here didn't have the cherry plums last year. They also have the pluots this year but I'm not a major fan of apricots, so I passed on those.
Was the jewelry party a good one, Becky? Did you earn a lot of stuff? I saw something on the Noon news about the UAE using drones to cause it to rain there. They are more of a desert than your part of TX do maybe that would work to stave off droughts.
I got a good night's sleep but am still a bit tired. I did almost 900yds in the lake this morning, so I think I will just cook the pizzas for dinner and call it a day. I did all the watering already as there is zero chance of rain today and not much of a chance until Monday. Most of the garden is doing well and I need to start taking a container out with me when I go to harvest because it took me 2 trips to get all the tomatoes, bush beans, and jalapenos into the kitchen. I will probably steam the beans on Sunday and will have quite a bunch. The sungold tomatoes and jalapenos were part of lunch and they were a really good change from what I have been doing. Happy Weekend, Chicks!
Waving to Liz and Denise.

Karen, it is fascinating to see the actual immigration records. I've only been able to find a few of mine since a lot of them came in much earlier. FamilySearch and Ancestry have international records too, so you could try those as a starting point. I had a brick wall for a long time with my Irish ancestors, but the Catholic parish registers are online now and I was able to find some of their baptism records and the townland where they came from. FindMyPast is another good site. They have US records, but also a lot of Ireland and the UK records. Almost all of the sites have free trials from time to time and you can always search for free to see what they have.
One thing on FamilySearch is that not all of the records are searchable. They have a lot of courthouse ledgers that have been scanned in and you can browse through them. Most of the ledgers have an index in the front, so it's not too hard to see if a name you're looking for is in there. I've found lots of wills and other probate and court records that way.
Another band from that strange system is on top of us right now. It was sounding like fireworks going off in the distance, but now it's pouring. I don't think I'll need to run my sprinklers this weekend. From your review, I'll stick with cherries instead of the cherry plums. Those Fooled You jalapenos sound great. I like the flavor, but not too much heat.
My cousin's daughter has been a folk/indie/pop singer on the local Colorado music scene for the past several years. She has a new song out today called Felt like Love by Carolyn Hunter. <===== shameless plug 🎶🎵 Chele, hope the eyes have improved. Waving to everyone.

I’m getting there, Linda. A couple of things I knew about or saw on reruns but didn’t experience first hand. That poor child. Did they rescue him/her? No way I go through water.
Kathy, just what Florida needs, more rain. As if the ground isn’t saturated already. Genealogy is fascinating. Not sure I want to know what my Italian ancestors were up to or my 19th century Scottish/Irish immigrant ancestors either for that matter. 😁
Becky, how was the party? Did you get some nice jewelry? Any rain come your way?
Liz, it’s Friday. I hope you and Zoe are feeling better.
Karen, you have to get in the lake while you can. It seems like it is such a short swimming season. Your zucchini and our eggplant. Pfft! Disappointing. We finally found some flowers on the cucumbers. We have less bees this year so that may be the problem, although the green beans are doing well and the tomatoes are finally fruiting.
It was cloudy until a couple of hours ago. I did go outside today and the eyes are not itching and burning, so the smoke haze must be dissipating. Kroger was fine yesterday. No new fruits or veggies. We will most likely go to YS tomorrow. We are not expecting any rain until Sunday and then it is only a 38% chance. We will be back in the 90s the first part of next week. We are headed into our hot, dry season. Typically, end of July into August is our high heat time.

Linda, I'm getting there too. There are some I've heard of but they were before my time. That rising water can catch people off guard especially at night. We had some bad spots on one of my commutes that would pond on the road after heavy rains and you couldn't see it at night. The police would put warnings up the next day, but it made for some scary drives home.
Chele, lots of rain is one of the perks? of living on a peninsula. This is our rainy season and it usually goes through October. Lol on not wanting to know what your ancestors were up to. I've uncovered some interesting stories and a few scoundrels in my family history.

Thanks for the start Karen. The jewelry party was fun. I don't know if I won anything. I don't know when they plan to do the drawings. My stylist is having an open house(I can't go) to show the new line of jewelry and that's when we have to give her our wish lists by and I have already done that. I also agreed to book an online party with her which puts me in another drawing but so many people attended who knows who will win. She said she thinks my jewelry is in for her 1/2 price sample sale she had a few weeks ago so I will be getting those items as well. I haven't heard about the UAE or drones causing rain. Only West Texas and parts of South Texas are in drought as of right now but the rain faucet has turned off probably through the end of July and you know how little it rains in August. I remember in September the year we got married it rained for quite awhile after we got married. I told Kenneth maybe we ought to get remarried next month or September so we can get some decent rain. Tomorrow I will start on my last gallon size baggie of cucumbers. I will miss them but I won't miss working in the garden in the August heat for sure.
Linda I'm glad you got rain because I know you need it but hate to see the flooding.
Chele It was an online party and my stylist hasn't figured out everyone's carts out yet. They call them smart carts because they figure everything out on the financial side. I did order some pieces before the party so she could have my wish list. Not expecting any rain for awhile and it's hot and humid again although we had a nice breeze from the south today.
This morning my phone evidently died because I was charging it on the way to HEB and it went black and I saw the Apple icon and it hasn't come back on so I have an appointment at Best Buy tomorrow afternoon to either get it repaired or replaced. It's almost 2 years old but not quite. I have been killing and cleaning fire ants off the counters today.
Waves to all.
