This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph, with the following 2021 Goals:
Carole: 1.) Journal Daily, thoughts, feelings, ideas 2.) Track daily, Good, Bad, Ugly, HONESTLY 3.) Move every day, 10-30 minutes, as able 4.) Limit/Reduce Alcohol, All of it! 5.) Be thankful for something - every day
Gabrielle 1. Wellness--take steps each day to address better wellness (moving, attention to my eating, getting sleep, etc.) 2. Debt-- continue to take steps to eliminate debt (including the kids college debt that we are covering) so that I have no debt when I retire 3. Connectedness-- each month have a plan to stay connected to those who I care about (maybe dinner once/month after COVID, Zoom, phone calls, etc.) 4. Creativity -- seek out projects that keep me using the creative side of my brain (knitting, paint parties?, etc.) 5. Journaling/Self-Awareness--find a way to journal my thoughts and to think through challenges and opportunities
Sue: 1. Get moving - plan to utilize my Cubii 3-5 times per week at least 2. Moderation - limiting junk, snacks, wine and all things I know that sabotage my success 3. Daily Gratitude - continue our November daily gratitude. 4. Start a journal - my "Life & Apples" journal will arrive later in the week. 5. Be more "present" - in life, in my journey, with family & friends, in all aspects of my world
Jenny: 1) I'm moving to a clean eating plan like more veggie dishes and less red meat 2) I pulled out my Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser's " Yoga for weight loss DVD" and do that in the evening since it's pouring down rain here. 3) Cut way back on the wine at nights, they sell those tiny little bottles that have 5oz in them and limit myself to only 1-2 per day, that can work right? 4) Track everything even if I'm in the negatives and hold myself accountable
Christine: 1. Cardio exercise daily (walk, stationary bike) 2. FOLLOW the WW Plan using Honesty. 3. Daily gratitude - Say something NICE each morning
Karen: 1. Take one step at a time and be kind to myself. 2. Move by getting my kayak on the water at least one day per week... it will be more as the weather warms. 3. Stick to my intermittent fasting schedule. 4. Try to sleep reasonably
Shelly: 1. Be more organized at work. Never leave with stuff on my desk 2. Be there for people when they need someone to lean on 3. Stick with WW plan!!! No matter what!!!! 4. Be a better influence on those around me.

Good morning... TGIF... and BROADBAND DAY!! WOO HOO!!! I will log in to work early - get things done, then take lunch while they are here. We'll see how this goes! Fingers crossed it goes "as planned"!
Another beautiful "fall" day yesterday, with no rain! Well a quick shower - big rain drops - just enough for me to bring the laundry in off the line! UGH! Also another chilly (58) start to today!
I went out yesterday and picked our first green beans for dinner yummy! Then - you won't believe it - but - I had to water the gardens! LOL Yes, our beds were getting pretty dry - so I took a few minutes and watered last night.
I also started carrying stuff down from the attic - this weekend Patti & Kathy are having their tag sale! So I have a LOT of baby stuff to unload there! LOL Today I will open everything - make sure it's still clean and suitable for sale - then load the truck and haul it down! I'll be bringing Zoë home with me - but Eden prefers to come early Saturday morning - so just the one for overnight this week! Saturday looks to be a fairly good day - so I am sure they will be in and out of the pool!
OK Starting work early today so no time to catch up now... ♥hugs♥

Good morning!
Thanks for starting us Carole! Oh, TGIF it is. I am working today, but many have the day off so looking forward to a quiet space. I do feel like I am getting things done this week and closing up a few projects. It was a lot warmer yesterday (about 99 degrees at the highest) and will probably be the same today. Looking forward to the weekend!
Carole: Wow! Those raised beds must drain really well if you had to water them! I found it actually kind of funny after all of the rain that you have had---good thing that you checked. Yum, fresh green beans will be great! Also, nice to have just one of the girls tonight---sounds like a nice evening. Yay for broadband and fingers crossed it goes as planned! I am so jealous..with all of our taxes, etc. CA still can't find a way to get decent internet to everyone---it just isn't a priority. Hope that you have a great day!
Sue; Fun times for you! It's hard to believe that it is Friday already....so glad that you have had this time and I am sure that Hannah is happy about the laundry---I am amazed that the boys helped! I know that today will be another fun day for you
Hello to all who follow. Jenny - I don't recall when you were going to have that imaging done on the back of your heart, but hope that you get confirmation of good news with that. Hope that everyone has a good start to their weekend!

Good morning, ladies!
It is hard to believe that we’re on the last part of July already! Where has the summer gone?!? We only have a few weeks left until we return to school.
Carole - Your tallish weather sounds heavenly when I have been working outside in the 90 degree heat and humidity! We have had a terribly dry summer and the rivers have dropped. I’m waiting for some BIG RAIN to be able to do my favorite paddle… (I don’t want any chance of having to portage my kayak!
Good for you getting things ready for the tag sale! Baby stuff usually sells well!
Sue - We always try to travel with clean laundry even if we’re just heading home… seems so much better to pack it up! I am sure that you will be appreciated for the clean laundry. I agree that there are things that I MIGHT do differently when I look back at raising the kiddos, but I also know that I gave it my very best with the knowledge I had at the time. Emily and Isaac know that I made some mistakes but they choose to still love me. Anna has always had the gift of painting me with the ugliest brush she could get her hands on. Interestingly enough… my FB account was hacked the night of the ballgame. I’m not blaming them… but it seems like there is always SOMETHING after I have tried to reach out. I don’t believe it is Anna… but I don’t trust her husband. Either way, I am trusting that my actions said the door is still open. Theirs certainly said that the door is still closed. Nevertheless… as far as I know they’re still teaching in my building but not on my floor or grade level. (As I have thought about the year ahead it has struck me that I am the only teacher going into their 30th year. I am been doing this longer than any other person in the building. There are a handful that have been at my school a year or two longer… but I am now officially the most seasoned teacher in the building … but not the oldest.)
Gabrielle - do you have anything special planned for the weekend? 99 sure is HOT!

Good Morning everyone
Yes TGIF, I've had an emotional hard week and I'm glad it's Friday. The up's and down's of my health is really getting me thinking that I need to treat my body better especially if I want to live and enjoy my retirement years. So this is a new week and I will try and move more, especially after work when it's nice outside I need to get up and go for a walk, even if it's a short walk. My job is so sedentary that I really need to do something about this weight.
I don't have anything planned this weekend except getting my hammock chair hung up in a tree so I can go out when its nice and read in it. I always thought that those looked so cool. I also need to fill out the loan papers for Audrey's student loan, we ended up going with the parent plus loan and get that going. I'm not sure when I'm going back in for the nuclear stress test, they haven't called me yet so I will call them and see today.
Carole glad you could get some of the things out of the attic and sell at the tag sale. Is your internet out or are you switching to broadband? We are having home made pizza tonight, I will make mine a vegi pizza to keep it healthy and then I have a zero point marinara sauce that I use as well. I'm glad you had at least 1 nice day this week. You can send the rain out here to put out the fire's.
Gabrielle oh a quiet day at the office that's great. I love working by myself as well, I'm more productive when no one else is around. We have been in the high 70's and low 80's this week but it's going to start getting hot this weekend, I myself am so over summer especially after that 117 degree weather we had at the end of June, it just scorched all the plants and grass up here.
Ok need to get running hello to Karen and all who follow.
Jenny

Afternoon all...the house is quiet, clutter free and I'm struggling to hold back tears. We had an awesome week with Kale and Rowan and it's over...one of the first thing they said to Hannah & Shea when they arrived was "can we spend another week with Grandma & Grandpa next year?"!! Made my heart happy that they loved the week as much as Jason and I did. We crammed a lot in the week but also had down time, outside play time and just fun!! Many of the things we did were just sharing many of our favorite things with them like cooking/baking, painting, gardening, playing games, hanging out at the lake etc....they were very excited to share their corn planting and picking with mommy and daddy!! And Kale told Hannah..."do you know how much math you need to bake?" Made me giggle!! I know I probably bored many with all my pictures but I will cherish every one.
Carole...thanks for starting us off today!! YAY YAY YAY for finally getting Broad Band!! Hope all goes well and you notice a big improvement!! I know how you struggle with internet now!! Frustrating to say the least!! Yes, today is a late summer, early fall kind of day but I can feel the humidity rising already...will be cool in the morning but almost 90° by the afternoon tomorrow so I'm enjoying this perfect day!! It's just about 80°, sunny, breezy and perfect!!
YAY for picking your first green beans...we picked, or should I say Jason and boys picked, 2 full peck baskets....that's a lot of beans!! We will be bringing some green beans and squash for Pat tonight and some green beans for Sarah to when we go to Dutch Apple tonight. There is still plenty left for us to have a couple of meals and there are TONS more to come.... Yes, raised beds survive the "rainy days" but they also dry out faster than a traditional garden. Glad you will finally get rid of all that baby stuff at the tag sale...that should make some space for you!! Enjoy your night with Zoe and both the girls tomorrow...yes, I'm sure you will in and out of the pool if you are getting the same weekend weather as we are!!
Gabrielle....enjoy your quiet space today at work!! I know I am always more productive when no one is in and out of the office and no phone/email distractions or at least the emails are at a minimum. On Saturday no one expects you to be there so the phone/email is always quiet!! Yes, the boys helped...part of the laundry is their chore....they do socks, underwear, gym shorts, pj's and turn everything "right side to"....most of their wash gets done inside out and Hannah refuses to fix it so that is their job!! LOL!! Well, it was a fun morning but now the house is quiet....they left about 1:00pm to head to DC to meat up with friends from their flight school days....they will be with Jon, Jane & Mia for 2 nights...then onto friends from NE that just moved 3-4 months ago back to the VA/DC area...they will spend 2 nights with Steve, Ana and the 2 kids then home on Tuesday for 2 more days with Shea's parents before heading home on Thursday!!
Going to get a quick shower then back to finish catching up....we need to leave for Dutch Apple at 4:15 to pick Pat up....She will meet us 1/2 way between our house and hers and we travel from there to Dutch Apple....no sense taking two cars for most of the trip!! Only takes us about 15 minutes out of our way so no biggie and we get to spend time with Pat, 1 on 1.....

Squeaky clean now and my hair will dry before we have to leave...didn't want to look like a "drowned rat" heading out and I like to air dry my hair when I can....the hair dryer really does dry out my hair.
Sitting here catching up listening to Olympic coverage...when we got up this morning we watched the opening ceremonies...while very different this year due to COVID and all the restrictions/protocols I loved it!! In many ways it was more "low key" than prior OC but it really tried to focus on the world, the pandemic and how sports and the theme of the Olympics is what this world needs....we need to come together regardless of race, creed, nationality, etc and be one world, one people....they did the song "Imagine" and had singers from different regions of the world, starting with a Japanese kids choir, then a woman from Africa, a man from Europe, John Legend from North America and Keith Urban from Australia....it made the hair on my arms stand up. They tied the 1964 games in Tokyo to this one....the boys loved the part where they had 3 people (kind of reminded me of the 'blue man group') depicting all the emoji's that depict each event...apparently in 1964 in order to bridge the language barrier, Tokyo organizers developed the symbols that have lasted throughout the years....it was fun to see these 3 people go from one to the other...I think it was 51 in all!! I honestly will watch the replay that they will do tonight in PrimeTime. It was fun. The coolest thing to Kale was the fact that the Opening Olympic rings were made out of wood that was from trees planted in 1964 after that Olympic Game from seeds brought from other countries...all grown in Japan, then processed and formed into the Olympic rings. Many countries grown and formed together as one....a lot of symbolism that I loved.
Karen...I know, how can we be heading into the final week of July...it's crazy!! Hannah's boys start school August 12th...Sarah's on the 25th.... LOL, yes, why does clean laundry seem to fit better in suitcases than dirty. When we only go for a long weekend, we don't worry about it but when we go for a week or so we always bring 1/2 of what we need and do laundry part way through....
I will say Karen, while there are things in hindsight I might do differently if it could do it over again parenting the girls but it would not be much. As you said, we all do the best we can with the knowledge and experiences we have had....I will say, like Anna, Sarah has been the one to paint me with an uglier brush but thankfully after a bit more thought and "soul searching" on HER part, she is starting to understand that her life now and the things she might be blaming on her dad and I are NOT our doing but hers...we both did the best we could....Jason too has regrets and wishes he had done a few things differently but all in all, we are proud of both our girls....one has had a tougher time learning what is truly "solely hers to own" and what she can say we might have lead her to choose what she did but from there, like all of us, SHE could have and still CAN choose differently. I guess with parenthood and early adulthood, there are no instructions and we all must continue to learn and grown and take ownership to our own lives as adults. I pray that one day Anna recognizes that you did your best but there came a point in time when SHE was in control of her choices and how her life plays out. Always keep the door open...maybe and I sure hope so she will sneak in when you least expect it and realize the gifts of love and guidance you and Tony gave to her. Yes, I agree...her husband sounds very manipulative and I have a feeling he caught Anna at a weak, struggling moment and he said all the "right things"! Hopefully, if we are right, she will recognize his manipulation and stand her ground and fight for herself and those she left behind. LOL...noticed how you said "most seasoned" and qualified it with NOT the oldest!!
Jenny....sorry for the tough week, hopefully being Friday it will give you a chance to regroup and things are more ups than downs! Yes, I think all of us realize at some point that this journey is NOT all about the weight but it's about making better choices for our overall health. Yes, the weight loss helps our joints and many other health concerns like heart health, diabetes, etc....We all long to enjoy our retirement and now is the time for all of us to focus on our overall health to help us enjoy that time we have honestly worked our whole lives for to this point!!
Well...got word last night that DM is back in the hospital....UTI is a definite but they suspect pneumonia and possible sepsis....not sure from what but still waiting to hear more. I texted Jim this morning but haven't heard anything more.
Speaking of DM the boys agreed to color the pictures she requested and when we were doing the sun catchers, they both said "this one is for Great Nanie"....made me smile so I will send them off to her when I get the pictures back. This weekend, especially since Jason works tomorrow until lunch and then will spend the afternoon at the lot I will have plenty of time to upload all the pictures from the week and I plan to make the boys a "memory book" of pictures from our week. I will definitely order one for myself too to have the most precious of memories close and at hand!! I will bring it to them at Christmas! I think they will both enjoy looking back on the fun memories we made this week. Maybe not but I'm confident that it will mean something to both of them now and who knows, maybe for a long time?? If not, I know Hannah will definitely hang onto them...she's like me, she loves her pictures and takes as many as I do! When she hugged me when they left she said "thanks mom for posting and sending all the pictures this week....I knew they were in good hands and seeing their smiles and happiness sharing life with you and dad means so much to Shea and I"!! Man, did I struggle to hold back tears then...and yes, they are streaming down my face now....
Need to think about getting ready....excited to see my other grandsons today....WOW, hugs from ALL 5 of "Grandma's Boys" in the same day....I'm blessed for sure!!
