This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph, with the following 2021 Goals:
Carole: 1.) Journal Daily, thoughts, feelings, ideas 2.) Track daily, Good, Bad, Ugly, HONESTLY 3.) Move every day, 10-30 minutes, as able 4.) Limit/Reduce Alcohol, All of it! 5.) Be thankful for something - every day
Gabrielle 1. Wellness--take steps each day to address better wellness (moving, attention to my eating, getting sleep, etc.) 2. Debt-- continue to take steps to eliminate debt (including the kids college debt that we are covering) so that I have no debt when I retire 3. Connectedness-- each month have a plan to stay connected to those who I care about (maybe dinner once/month after COVID, Zoom, phone calls, etc. 4. Creativity -- seek out projects that keep me using the creative side of my brain (knitting, paint parties?, etc.) 5. Journaling/Self-Awareness--find a way to journal my thoughts and to think through challenges and opportunities
Sue: 1. Get moving - plan to utilize my Cubii 3-5 times per week at least 2. Moderation - limiting junk, snacks, wine and all things I know that sabotage my success 3. Daily Gratitude - continue our November daily gratitude. 4. Start a journal - my "Life & Apples" journal will arrive later in the week. 5. Be more "present" - in life, in my journey, with family & friends, in all aspects of my world
Jenny: 1) I'm moving to a clean eating plan like more veggie dishes and less red meat 2) I pulled out my Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser's " Yoga for weight loss DVD" and do that in the evening since it's pouring down rain here. 3) Cut way back on the wine at nights, they sell those tiny little bottles that have 5oz in them and limit myself to only 1-2 per day, that can work right? 4) Track everything even if I'm in the negatives and hold myself accountable
Christine: 1. Cardio exercise daily (walk, stationary bike) 2. FOLLOW the WW Plan using Honesty. 3. Daily gratitude - Say something NICE each morning
Karen: 1. Take one step at a time and be kind to myself. 2. Move by getting my kayak on the water at least one day per week... it will be more as the weather warms. 3. Stick to my intermittent fasting schedule. 4. Try to sleep reasonably
Shelly: 1. Be more organized at work. Never leave with stuff on my desk 2. Be there for people when they need someone to lean on 3. Stick with WW plan!!! No matter what!!!! 4. Be a better influence on those around me.

Good morning!
I hope that we can all take some time today to reflect on what we each really need to feel good about ourselves and to feel some balance in our lives. Jenny shared some thoughts yesterday that I found to be motivating---those opportunities to think about what we need to do that it good for us to have the life we want moving forward. I have a longer run today and will be doing it by myself--I will have my headphones and will be safe. A lot of the group is running trails now and I am getting ready for the September marathon so need to get my road running in. DH will run today with the super big group (he is kind of a rockstar there so he enjoys that).
We are back into the super hot wave of heat--not 100's but just consistent and not a lot of cooling at night. The smoke from the fires out here is not bad yet, but I guess that they even have a trace of it in Maine? CRAZY. Hoping that everyone is smart about being careful and not getting any new fires started.
I plan to spend some time today cleaning the house and cleanlng out the fridge to feel on top of things for the week ahead---it's all picking up getting ready for school to start--some start around 8/5 or so.

Sue: Oh, it must have been hard to walk back in to your quiet house after seeing the kids off---what a great week you and Jason planned for the boys! I loved the sentence in your post where you said that you got to hug all 5 grandsons in one day---yes, what a gift! I am always in awe of what a great parent and grandparent you are--so glad that you and Jason see that. How was Dutch Apple? It feels like all is right in the world when Sue and Jason go to Dutch Apple! We have been invited to a "thing" at a winery tonight and said we would go. But now I am seeing signs everywhere and realize that it might be a HUGE event so we might be avoiding it after all....I had no idea when we were invited. Just not feeling like being around a hundred people right now with all of the variant issues. Yes, the Olympics opening ceremony was so special! I remember from my time in Japan how appreciate they are of history, respectful of all people....I really enjoyed watching it too. DH is loving it--sports nearly 24 hours/day. Hope that you have a nice, calm day today!
Jenny: Did you find out more about the nuclear imaging? Good for you for staying on it. What a gift to be given the chance to add some things to your life to improve your health and make your retirement more enjoyable! Yay for getting the student loan things figured out. When does Audrey check in to the dorm? It's all so exciting!

Karen: Good to see you and yes, already the end of July! I hope that you get some rain as well--super dry here too. Wow, 30 years! Isn't that something? The kids are fortunate to have you. Sorry about the ongoing issues with Anna and her husband. I know that it must be so hard. So glad that you have little Eleanor to preoccupy some thoughts!
Carole: Hope that you had a nice evening with Zoe! Maybe an evening swim and some somersaults in the pool? Hope that your day is off to a nice start.
Christine: The kids first "official" weekend in the new place...how is it going for them so far?
Okay, need to get moving as I am tryilng to beat the heat and will be out there running for a few hours. Hope that you all have a good day--will try to pop in later if possible.

Good morning - I think my "self-care" Saturday will be sitting in the sun - while the girls swim in the pool! I am thinking it won't be warm enough for me to get IN the water, but I will totally enjoy the sun today! IT's only 60out there now, but supposed to warm up and be the best day of the weekend! A produce list will be made so that tomorrow I can and WILL cut up produce to get salads READY for the work (in the office) week ahead! We are getting a little bit of fresh produce from our gardens, but will need to supplement with some from the farm stand.
I need to go back and read/catch up a few days.

Thirsty Thursday went OK... had more liquids than I had been having. I did even better yesterday, and that will be more of a focus today! I will need to keep pushing liquids on the girls, so I will take my own advice and drink with them!
Gabrielle: Oh dear... sorry DB is asking for financial help - I agree with retirement on the horizon, it makes you stop and think. {{{hugs}}} and good luck with that one.
Sue: So fun to surprise the boys with pick their own corn! I saw the pics on FB - looked like there was enough for all of you to enjoy!
We had showers yesterday (again) but so quick they didn't amount to anything.
Yes.... being in the office makes me more focused... sometimes. LOL Last week I had snacky lunches because I never got my salads prepped! I am determined to be more "ready" this week.
PTown has mask "advisories" now - but so many places require them that every picture I see is people waiting in line with masks on!
Have to LOL that you SEE three tomatoes, and know they are ready to pick... but will have Jason pick them!! Be brave Sue - go pick them yourself

Well I did get all my baby stuff out - set up - cleaned - and hauled to Kathy's! While at Kathy's I also made several trips up and down her stairs to help haul more of her stuff outside. So much WORK involved in a yard/tag sale! Hoping they do well - if not financially, just hope they GET RID of it all! We brought Zoë home, too late for anything but a quick board game with Grampa and then off to bed!
Gabrielle: I hope your Friday went well, and you did get those projects closed up! LOL Yes, all this rain, and I had to water the gardens! Oh well, I'd rather water than have things floating! Yes, the green beans were yummy - I think I eat as many raw as I end up cooking!
Well NO - the broad band did NOT go "as planned"! OY VEY! Are we surprised? First off there is an issue bringing the cable in where our current phone line comes in. Up in a crawl space, and not easy to get up into.
Second, where it comes up from the basement, it is behind the hutch - not a problem for the router, but my new phone line has to come up there as well - so I'd have to move the phone. We can't really put the phone/answering machine on the top of the hutch (where the router is) - so we either had to move the hutch or move the router. UGH! OK We decided to let him bring it into the living room - not go through the basement... not a huge deal, except - now the phone/answering machine is all the way in the living room. Just a PITA! We still have our cordless phones so we can still answer them wherever - but the answering machine is not convenient!
The third and FINAL STRAW (for me) is the signal from our pole is not strong enough! SAY WHAT?? SO we have the new modem, on the front living room wall. Not a big deal, it will be behind the bookcase or chair. We have the new router and phone box on the book case - but - Neither.One.Works.! Since it was late Friday - we are on the list for first thing Monday for them to come fix the line! Already needs to be FIXED and it hasn't even WORKED yet!
Good thing we are one of the few "test" houses being hooked up this week! LOL They want us to be able to tell everyone how WONDERFUL it is, so more people will sign up and get hooked up! LOL Anyway... I am sure in the end it will all be fine - and work great - but yesterday/today are not good days to ask me how it's going! I won't be here Monday, good thing its Ken's day off - HE can deal with it!
Meanwhile they did NOT cut my current internet - during the first phase we have the choice of using Verizon or Tri-Wire (well when it's working) and we don't get billed for the new yet.
Karen: I know, seriously it feels like summer is about over now! I wish we could send some water your way. The river here is 300 - 400 CFS (?) Higher than normal, so the local tube rentals are unable to even open. My friend has not opened once in July!! Too MUCH rain - too dangerous for novice tubers. The rafting companies are making money - and the kayakers are out in full force, but people that like to float down the river on a lazy weekend are not able to enjoy it this year! So sad really - so much pleasure and business is being lost.
Hey, does Eleanor need any baby clothes?? I have not gone through my totes yet... we have preemie to 12 month up in the attic. If needed I could get a package sent off.
So excited for you to be teaching your 30th year in a brand spankin' new building!! I know there are things that will be missed from the old, but looking ahead to the NEW must be exciting for everyone!
Jenny: I wish you luck finding the motivation to get up and move! I tell myself every day - today is the day - but it rarely happens. I too need to do SOMETHING, and NOW is the time. I wish we lived closer I'd walk with you. ♥ If only I could share some of the rains we have had... and cooler temps! Nine AM and only degrees! Sunny but chilly. We are supposed to be switching to broad band... time will tell I guess!
Sue: {{{hugs}}} it has to be so difficult to have the house so quiet now! You had an awesome week with the boys - and how sweet that they want to come do it again next year! Maybe it will become an annual thing! I bet H&S enjoyed it as much as the boys did! ♥ You didn't bore me with the pics - I loved seeing the boys enjoying the time.
Oh Sue - hugs from all 5 boys in one day - is quite the feat for you ♥

Gabrielle: Thanks for starting us off this morning - Like I said, my self care will be to enjoy the sunshine and warmer temps today - when it warms up. Good luck on your long run today - by yourself, must be nice once in a while. With your headphones - and time to clear your mind. Glad you are also aware of safety out there ♥
Yes, we had a very hazy day this week, and they said it was from the fires out west! HOW?? Doesn't seem possible - but I trust the science that says that's what it was!
I too need to work on my fridge, and get the produce list ready. Not sure if I am doing the shopping and drop off of kids or if Tracy will. We will figure that out when she gets up. I just need to know what we have and what we need!
Yikes, not sure I'd go to the event tonight either. Not knowing how many people will be there, how many unvaccinated, etc. Good luck {{{hugs}}}
OK It's after 9, time to get Zoë dressed and ready to head outside! While it is only 67 degrees it IS sunny... I also need to get started on laundry, and other oddball chores of the day.
I do hope you all take some time today to enjoy some "self-care" we all need it, and deserve it ♥hugs♥

MMS for now...off to the grocery store! Not a lot to pick up but do need a few basics so I can make more Blueberry Zucchini Breads and Lemon Zucchini cake/bread....yes, we are overrun!!
Went to Dutch Apple last night and had a blast...show was great and so good to see Pat!!
See you all later....been vegging watching Olympics while I uploaded all my pictures to Snapfish and Amazon Photos so I have extra copies....want to put them on my computer too! Also did my nails to celebrate the Olympics....red nails with R/W/B sparkle on top!! Turned out fun!! GO USA!!
Have a great day all...back later!

Afternoon all...back from an expensive but successful shopping trip....Jason needed some Claritin and I got a ham to make Ham & Green Beans soon as the green beans are really starting to produce and we will soon have more than we can eat fresh....that right there was almost $50....doesn't take long to jack up that grocery price tag! LOL!!
Sitting here with Olympic Water Polo playing the background...Team USA Women are doing great!! Looking forward to Mens' Team Competition starting later today....
Was originally planning on coming home and making the breads but after more thought figured it was better to do it tomorrow so I don't have to find storage for the stuff I'm bring to Lacey's "Brushies Party" tomorrow....she is planning a "thank you dinner" for some of her most loyal painters. Some of us are bringing a little something and I'm figured the breads/muffins would be a nice dessert.
Thanks Gabrielle for starting us off today!! What I need for me today is a rest....I had an awesome week but boy, do we both realize there is a reason you have your kids when you are younger....in your 60's it's a lot to have them 24/7 for an entire week....you always have to be "ON"....both boys were great and listened and behaved well most all the time, only a few moments of "less than good behavior" but they quickly improved what they already knew was NOT acceptable behavior!!
We too are back to those hot temps....low to mid 90's starting tomorrow for most of the week!! Today the temps aren't quite that high but the humidity is definitely on the rise....Hopefully you got your run in before the temps got too high today. Good idea to get in more road work with the marathon coming soon!! Thankfully our fridge is pretty much free of too many leftovers....will need to figure a few things out for the week....I know we will have leftover pulled pork on Wednesday when Hannah's gang and Pat come for dinner so don't want to have too much....with all the fresh produce, it's hard to find space in the fridge sometimes so this time of year I try to keep leftovers to a minimum!
Yes Gabrielle...as soon as Jason dropped Pat & I off at the door at Dutch Apple, all three boys came over to give us both a hug!! What a great day....hugs from ALL of "Grandma's Boys"!! Dutch Apple was great....did well food-wise and the show was fantastic!!! The Beast had a phenomenal voice.....I can't imagine how hot he was under the mask/head covering he wore until the last 5 minutes of the show....all the actors/actresses were great!! Really a wonderful ensemble and production!! I know Pat was excited to finally see Sarah's gang for the 1st time in over 15 months....She is super excited for Wednesday when she gets to see Hannah's gang...it has been over 2 years since she saw them.
I agree Gabrielle...if the event at the winery is a HUGE event, it might not be the best idea to attend, especially with the uptick in cases in CA....I keep hearing some areas in CA are really bad and would be back to the "purple" level of restrictions...that's kind of scary!!! How is your area at this point??? I am still so grateful our local area is doing pretty well at this point.
Oh...had to laugh...I saw an article on one of the news emails I get regarding COVID updates/news. Apparently the Alabama Governor (republican, if that makes a difference) said we need to put the blame where the blame lies with this current increase in cases squarely on those who are NOT vaccinated...they are the problem!!! Nothing like calling them out!! I loved it because it's fact....the unvaccinated are the problem....in our area, 98% of the new cases are unvaccinated and 83% are the Delta variant...that kind of says it all about both the unvaccinated and the variant's severity!

Carole...glad the garden beds are giving you some nice fresh produce! Yes, depending on when things come it you do still need to get other veggies/fruits to fill in....nothing comes in all together when you want it to....each crop has it's season!!
Glad your water/liquid intake is improving Carole...I will say, I am really proud of how well I did over my Staycation...I really tried to focus on it all week. I say your "self care" for the day is perfect...get that Vitamin D while the girls enjoy the pool....
Oh Carole..the boys were so excited to actually PICK their own corn....they couldn't stop talking about it!! Yes, we all got to enjoy 2 ears a piece....Jason is bringing home a couple for each of us for tonight's dinner too! No Carole...I do NOT pick the tomatoes...what I think is ready Jason will often let "hand another day or two"....he will squeeze every damn tomato on the stalk to see if it's ready to pick....he did pick all three, it was actually 5...there were 2 more on the other side I couldn't see from where I was standing!
Are you kidding me Carole...can't believe the Broad Band was such a fiasco. Hopefully by Monday it will be up and running as it should be and all will be great! Glad they didn't cut your current internet, such as it is...but better than nothing!
Waves to all yet to pop in....hope all those that have been MIA for a few days are doing well and are just busy!!! Take care of yourselves everyone!! You deserve it!!
Time to put my feet up in front of the fan for a bit and and just relax!!

Good evening! Can't believe it is 7 pm already. Greg and I went to early dinner at Outback. I had my usual grilled shrimp appetizer with steamed veggies. I have been watching the Olympics on and off today. It is interesting to watch the various sports
Once again I am behind and need to read the last few days posts. It is like 90 here and big time humidity.
Hope everyone has a good rest of your weekend. My self care will be planning for at least Monday and Tuesday so it won't be stressful!
