Happy Saturday WW friends!
I got a full, restful 8 hours of sleep last night and woke ready to face the day. I got floors done yesterday afternoon after we got home from DH's hyperbaric and his much-needed haircut. We had burgers and oven-fried sweet potato fries, which made for an easy dinner. I also got the tomatoes and okra picked.
Today, I gathered up boxes of stuff that's been gathering in DD3's room as I cleaned closets and loaded them into the Highlander. I donated them to a thrift shop in town and then stopped at DD1's for a few minutes. Abby is having a "Half-Birthday Party" today with a waterslide. Her birthday is Dec. 11 and everyone seems too busy with Christmas parties, family Christmas gatherings, etc. to attend a birthday party. After a couple of disappointing attempts, DD1 decided to celebrate mid-year, which has worked out better. There were several squealing, happy kids playing in the water. DD1 got a big enough slide that the 2 older DGKs and their friends can enjoy it later after Abby's party is over.
I stopped at Super 1 for groceries and found everything on my list, except some Atkins dessert bars for DH, which I can get next week at Walmart. It was such a relief not to have to go to Walmart. At Super 1, there are ample people to check you out with little or no waiting, less crowds and very pleasant, helpful employees. I may pay a little extra there, but I really don't care. I pulled into the Murphy gas station, but they were out of gas again, so paid a little extra at our local station here in the Village. Again, I really didn't mind paying a little extra. It is a shock to pay $40 for a tank of gas, though.
I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon working on the 3 guest bedrooms to be ready for DD3's family next weekend. They just need a bit of dusting and airing out, but are otherwise kept pretty neat.
I enjoyed some sliced baked chicken breast topped with homemade guacamole and grapes for lunch. Dinner tonight will be
stuffed bellpeppers and Good Potatoes. I plan to make extra stuffed peppers for the freezer. I was up .6 at WI yesterday, but still well below goal, so I'm okay with the fluctuation, especially since I have had almost no exercise.
The heat has been terrible the past couple of days, with the heat index well over 100 degrees. I do not plan to do any gardening unless I get out there really early in the morning. I did have to dig a grave in a back corner of the yard for a large rat who gave up the ghost on the patio near the swing. I guess the outdoor bait traps our pest control guy has out are working. It's times like these that I REALLY miss DH being able to be up and about.
I didn't want to toss it in the garbage, as today's pick up was already past and the next one wouldn't be until Wednesday.
I just wanted to be sure you all understood my friend's/co-volunteer's DH WAS vaccinated. His is a "breakthrough" case caused by the high numbers of un-vaccinated in our state. I plan to start wearing a mask again in crowded stores for that reason. CV is the last thing DH and I need at this point!
BTW, I was finally able to get an appointment with my therapist that works for both of us. Monday, after dropping DH at home after his treatment, I will head to BTR to see her.
Ann - I did catch a glimpse of the moon before heading to bed last night. I wish I had looked when it was just rising. I'll bet it was gorgeous!
Sue - I can't understand why WW keeps "losing" your records. So strange! But hopefully they now have it all straightened out.
Judy - Hope all is well with you. I have read nearly all of Elin Hilderbrand's Nan Tucket books that I can get my hands on at the library. I enjoy them very much!
