Phyl, its so frustrating when you have phantom tooth pain that they cannot seem to find the cause of. Hope that the sensodyne helps- that takes a few days for the tooth to respond. Its absolutely insane the “normal” prices of products like that. Good thing you have access to Sams. Wonder what is causing the bloating- but I gather that is a part of your health status. I really hope you are able to make it to guild.
CJ- my head is spinning with all that you accomplished today!!! Hope cooler temps are headed your way….I am curious how to handle corners on an octagonal shape- but I figure there is a youtube to assist with that. I thought of you this afternoon as the one shop we went to mostly sells machines and a LOT of them. They had some beautiful long arm machines….tempting but I do not have the space nor inclination to buy one. I know you have rented long armer time- this shop seems to provide that service.
Doing ok tonight….DD#1 and the kids were here for awhile. The kids are fun and so silly. A cold front came through and the temps have dropped a bit. Looking forward to a cooler day tomorrow as today was in the low 90’s.

Phyl, It sounds like you have fluid collected in your abdomen(ascites) but I would think the ultra sound would have detected that so I guess you don't. I hope they find a way to fix things so that you're more comfortable.
Ginny, I'm so sorry to hear about your older cat. She did live a long and happy life. (I thought your older cat was a boy cat) It has to be hard losing a kitty you've had so long. I hope you can rescue another nice cat and it fits into your family
CJ,It's Tuesday already but I have no doubt at all that you will successfully meet your goal for finishing those items by the end of this week.
Ginny, the 11 inches is only 18 rows. I didn't get my 22 done yesterday and don't think I will today either.Yes you have a great machine so you probably won't need another for about 20 years...well unless you decide to invest in your own long arm.

Good morning!
Ruth, so those rows do not add much length to the afghan….is it a pattern that is easy enough for you to make? Some patterns are just really frustrating and not very relaxing to make (albeit very pretty!). I am not doing math in my head at the moment, but it does seem that in another 2 or 3 days, should you get your approximately 20 rows done per day and then you will be done. Then what is next? The pattern you got from a friend?
Yes, the vet’s comment to me was “she was my oldest patient”. Tom, the male I had to put down in December was older- we think. Tom showed up at the house at the approximate age of 10, so we were guessing that he was 23. This kitty I actually adopted through the vet’s office and she turned 21 around May 1. Nope, I am most likely not going to invest in my own long arm. I love quilting, but I also love to crochet etc…..and am unsure how many large quilts I will take on that would require long arming. I missed being yelled at this morning…..the cat I just put down was very vocal and the vocal assault started the minute I get up until she got fed and fresh water. I do not miss worry- and this past 6 months there was plenty (was she eating? Did she seem ok and was it time to put her down). this morning DD’s cat (who is getting along very well with my cat, they are almost the same age and still have some kitten left in them). But it was a joy having DD’s cat here- he is a very social fellow. Sociability is the main characteristic I will be looking for in another cat if I were to get one.
So I guess my crafting yesterday was going into those two shops. This am I am going to get some cleaning done around here- perhaps mow the front lawn if the grass dries. We got some rain last night and its cooler here. (SO thankful for that). Not sure if I will quilt the kittens quilt later on today or crochet.
Phyl, hope you were able to get comfortable last night and get some rest.
CJ, thought of you plenty yesterday as I looked at those cool sewing/long armers. I wonder if that store I was at rented the machines for use? (Too far a drive for me to consider)
Sue, hope your new caregiver is getting used to your routines and Dh is adjusting to her

PHyl, same thing happened to me a few years ago. I was convinced that I was going to have to have at least one tooth pulled because two of them seemed to hurt a lot. Dentist said it was just sensitive teeth. I did buy Sensodyne in the grocery store right then but soon after found Sensitive teeth toothpaste at Dollar Tree. Large tube $1 and same ingredients exactly and in same amounts as Sensodyne. The price you found at Sam's must have been some kind of clearance because they sell it 4 tubes for $23 usually. You got an amazing deal.
Ginny, I do remember about your cats now.The two older ones were boy and girl. That's how you got Tea is because of having to put down the oldest one. I seem to have Joe Biden moments. Actually each row of the blanket is 3/4 inch so taller than a regular sc would be and each four rows ends up being 4 inches but I'm slow. Now that I finally got the four row repeat straight in my head the pattern is much easier but still time consuming because putting 7 loops onto your hook and keeping them from falling off takes time. That's a disadvantage of Clover hooks...too short of a shank.I should have grabbed one of my regular hooks but don't like to change in the middle of a pattern. Yes the next blanket will be the one my friend sent me and I think I'll work on it and one of the Spiderman blankets at the same time. I'll see how that works out going from one to the other.
Yes CJ accomplished a whole in such a short time. She's amazing at quilting.
Now I found out that my son's two oldest are planning on moving into an apartment of their own so I want to make them some kitchen things. Too bad they don't live closer since I have so many things I could give to them

Hello Ginny - You are a good cat mama - your cats lived such long lives, I'm sure they had wonderful lives with you and your family I'm glad you had a good time with your DD and DGC. I'm constantly tempted to get a smaller longarm machine, like a HandiQuilter Moxie, but I don't want to worry about the maintenance on those machines so I know I'll never get one. I just wish I had a local person who does longarm quilting and I'd take all my nice tops there to get finished. Ruth - That's nice that you can make some kitchen things for your GDC for their new apartment. Phyl - Hope you are feeling better today. Sue - Hope things are working out for you and the weather is alright. It's another hot day here, with a chance of storms and another chance of storms tomorrow. But I'm hoping we don't get any of the strong ones. It may seem like I get alot done, but it doesn't seem like it to me I feel like I'm so slow at everything and there isn't enough time to do all I want/need to do. I did get the 3 quilts tops and backing pressed and they are laying with the batting (so it can relax). And I did the machine quilting on the two small table toppers. I'm not thrilled with how they look but they are done and will be fine for table toppers. I did look at a few videos of binding an octagon shaped piece and one method was close to how I do regular binding so I'm going to try that one. I also pulled out some of my old hand quilting projects, since I had to move them to set up my machine quilting machine. There is one I thought I was going to hand quilt, but I think I will machine quilt it now. And there is another small piece that is ready for binding, so I added those two to the group I'm working with now. The one piece is a log cabin quilt I made in the 1990s! Now that I can finally machine quilt and bind, I'm glad I can finish them There is another piece that is a redwork wall hanging. I finished all the embroidery I just need to finish the hand quilting. I'd love to get that one done someday. Take care everyone!

CJ, you do get a lot done but I know the feeling of people thinking that you get a lot done and you personally don't think you do. I love log cabin quilts and it's one I probably could do without messing it up too much.I'm glad you found your's in your stash and will now be able to bind it. What are you going to do with all the table toppers? Maybe you should set up an Etsy shop and sell some. Of course that's kind of a pain in the neck to have to go out to mail the things you sell and also to deal with those negative people that complain no matter how great your projects are.Plus many think that homemade crafts should be given away almost free and complain at the prices which may already be lower than you should be selling it for. I'm surprised a lot though by how much some of the people in the crochet groups get for certain things. Much more than I though anyone would actually get.
Anyway just babbling again
Phyl, maybe ask your doctor about a test called a Fibroscan. It specifically scans the liver and is said to be one of the best tests you can have, takes no time and is not costly at all...so they say.

Ok, I just pulled out the whole thing. I made the same mistake I've made in the past in not laying out my blanket on something flat every couple rows so when I had almost 20 inches done I did that and found that it was mostly in the shape of a trapazoid. I somehow missed two of what she calls wings way back near the beginning. I had looked at it before and it looked ok but, as I said, didn't lay it out flat. So now I'm looking on the Daisy farm craft site and trying to decide which blanket to make.I think I'll make some kind of stripes because all this pink is getting to me. I also decided that I will use my friend's pattern to make a blanket for oldest grandaughter for her new apartment.
I hope you all had a good day.

Good morning!!!
Ruth, I hope that you can find a nice pattern on the Daisy farm site that is well written and easy enough to manage. And I am so sorry that you pulled that entire pattern out. So frustrating that the directions were not as clear as they could have been. The two grandkids who are moving out, is that DGS who just returned from Tawian?? How has he been since his return? Yes there is LOTS you can make for them as they embark on their journey into adulthood. I pray that they make wise decisions and get along well together. Moving out and getting an apartment is, well the normal thing for most young adults to do….especially as they are in a large family.
CJ- you do accomplish a lot my friend!!! THink that is pretty cool that you are going to revisit a quilt you made in 1990!! Do you still like it- I am asking because sometimes we change our likes/dislikes in colors as time goes on. Do yourself a favor…..send one quilt on a vacation to Missouri for long arming. The price was absolutely comparable to in store long arming - at least where I live. And they did a wonderful job. Totally agree with you about purchasing a long arm machine for home.. Nice idea but I doubt i would ever do that.
Be back later. Ginny

DD#2 and DGS#3 are heading over. Perhaps my crafting today will be the two Annies quilting/crafting catalogs I got in todays mail. Some cute stuff but I do not think I will buy anything. I have enough stuff here already!

Hello Ruth - Sorry you had to pull out your whole project, I hope you found another pattern to use. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed spending time with family. I do still like the older quilt - it's in purples and yellows which I like together I received an Annie's catalog too and I liked some of the Halloween patterns that were in it. I went out this morning, so that pretty much takes away my time to work on quilting. I hope I'll be able to get back to it this weekend. My sewing room is a mess, since I had to move a bunch of things to set up the heavy duty machine. I need to get these quilts done so I can put everything back. I find it difficult to work when everything is out of place Take care everyone!

CJ, going out throws me off too. I hope you can have a lot of time on the weekend to work on the projects you are choosing to work on. Yes I did find a pattern to do instead of that pink "butterfly" blanket. I'm cheating and making a cowl instead. I had one skein of a bamboo yarn that is pink and has only 98 yards which I'm pretty sure will be enough for this cowl. My dgd is only 9 and she's small so a small cowl will work. I already have the width so I'll just work the length until the yarn is used.
Ginny. I'm sure your dd and dgb are back home by now so I hope you had a good visit and good baby time.
Phyl are you doing ok. How did the CT go? I think you said you wouldn't find out any results until Monday at the earliest but sometimes they do get results sooner esp if the doctor calls the radiologist.
Sue I hope your dh is becoming accustumed to having the new caregiver show up
Now I just made a starting list of what all I have to get done by certain times. I've added to it by starting to make things for the dgc that are going to have their own apartment.

hi crafters,, the scan went well, had to drink 3 - 12 0z cups of the contrast.interesting how they do the scan, roll you up to the machine hold your breath, roll you back breath,.
started at 3 ,walked out a little after 4.was told to drink more water to flush out the contrast.I drink 5 -6 16 OZS glasses of water a day ,add about 5 more to that last night. I did not feel bloated, just stuffed like I had eaten 3 big holiday dinners.wonder i DI NOT POP ! LOL.
results were in my chart last night. course if you don't know the medical terms and lingo it's hard to know what they are saying.looks like my insides are doing great.
have not heard anything yet,it is FRIDAY. I usually hear between 4-5 pm if they call. might get a letter in my chart again. PHYL

Hello Phyl - I'm glad you test went well and hopefully the results are good. Hope you weren't affected by the bad weather over the last few days. Ruth - I love to make lists, so I hope your list will help you know what you need to work on. The best thing is when something is done and you can check it off Ginny and Sue - Hope you are doing well. It was supposed to be cooler today, but it didn't seem like it to me. I think the weekend is definitely going to be a bit cooler. I finished pinning 2 of the 3 quilts that are ready to be machine quilted. I'm going to try to finish pinning the last one tonight so I'm ready to start machine quilting tomorrow morning. There is one other quilt (the old one) that I thread basted, so I'll see how that works to machine quilt over it. I think I'm only going to quilt in one direction on two of them since the blocks I'll be quilting through are only about 3-4 inches apart. I think that is plenty of quilting since I don't like a heavily quilted quilt. Hopefully I'll get the 4 tops done this weekend and maybe even get them all trimmed. Then I can work on binding next week. I still have to get a block made for the Pat Sloan Summer Soiree quilt along and I don't want to get behind on that. Hope all of you get to do some crafting this weekend. Take care

Phyl, I'm glad it looks like everything is ok per your report in the online portal. Does it say WNL at the end? I don't think I'd ever be able to drink that much fluid at one time.Congratulations on getting that done. I don't have good opinions of doctors that make you wait over a whole weekend to get results. At least your's a troughout even if they don't give results quickly.
CJ, I do hope you're able to get everything done that you're planning on doing. I know you hate to get behind. I do too. I don't like quilts that are too heavily quilted either so if I actually quilted I'd be doing as little as I could. Probably there are some things that need more than others.
Wonder where Ginny is today. I hope everything is ok
Well I used up all the yarn I had for that cowl and I'm not sure it's large enough. I did block it so we'll see what the dimensions are when it's done. Dgd is only 9 so doesn't need a huge one but I still might have to take it out and use the yarn to make something else, make it narrower, or use a pattern that doesn't use as much yarn. Now I'l starting a cable cowl...still crochet...for another grandaughter who has a Nov bday. It looks very pretty in the picture. That's another reason I ripped out the butterfly blanket. It just didn't look as good to me in person as it did on her video.
I'll bbl to check on Ginny. She may be typing at the same time

Gosh, hard to believe I did not get here today until now.
CJ- thank good ness for cooler temps….yes, its starting to feel cooler here now, and I hope that the cold front starts to get to your area also. That is quite an accomplishment that you got those two quilt tops pinned. (If they are larger quilts it is a lot of work!!! Why did you decide to thread baste the one quilt? I know for some quilts, different techniques are helpful. Recently I am using pins and spray basting. I am sure it is going to look great quilting in one direction. The amount of quilting that looks nice can depend on the size quilt blocks, the fabrics used and how intricate a quilt it is. I am sure they will look great.
Phyl- so happy to hear that the test went well and it sounds like you are ok. I hope you get your results soon. Sometimes you can pull certain words from a medical report and look for them on the internet and sort of figure out what the report says. Hope that your results from the doctor come in soon. Congrats on not popping!!!!
Ruth- lists are helpful for sure- and even better if the due dates are set so you know what your priorities are. Any idea when DGS and DGD are moving out?
Went out to breakfast with a friend (former coworker this am) . It was so nice to see her and catch up. Hope that we do not wait 3 or 4 years like we did from the last time we saw each other to get together again!! this afternoon Ds and I went to the shelter and ended up bringing home a really nice 2 year old cat. I know you are supposed to give new pets a day or so to acclimate, but I know both my cats are used to other cats….so we let him loose in the house. So far, it seems to be working out really pretty well. Then I got to some intensive cleaning in the family room…so have had no time to craft today. Think I will read my magazine, (country woman) which has a lot of quilts in it this issue.
Sue, hope you are doing well.
Hope that each of us gets some crafting in this weekend! Ginny
