If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

New Challenge!
Labor of Love, July 7 - September 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
So why is it so hard? The mind set "I messed up today so might as well just finish the bottle or finish the bag of chipsâ has to be changed.
The purpose of this eight week challenge is to discover the reasons behind our drinking and do the hard work it takes to change the behavior. It is a journey of self discovery that you may or may not want to share. This can be painful, this can be bring up old memories, this can be too difficult to tackle. The reasons are so varied. But remember this is a safe place to vent and share and if you are not comfortable sharing here, feel free to use our private FB site (by invitation request).
So does anyone think that alcohol is your friend? Anyone think that the next morning just looks so much better after a night of drinking? Does drinking bring you serenity? So why do we drink?
Some people can have an easy time of giving it up but for most, it just isn't that easy. Many of us start off great and then hit the wall at 10 days. Have you tried to journal your feelings as each day progresses and see what happens when you hit that wall?
"I will let the serene moments wash over me. I will cherish them. They soften me. And the blows of today's tumultuous storm will be lessened."

Hi again. Finally starting to feel normal again. I've been doing some HOA stuff. I found out that my closing is this Friday morning. It has gone quick! I'll be glad to have that money sitting in the bank designated for the roof. I'll get back to regular posting tomorrow. Murphy

Hi girls. Went to PT today. Drove for the first time since my surgery. It didnât hurt getting into the drivers seat!! Itâs amazing the little things I notice!
Tonight DH is fixing zucchini lasagna with zucchini slices that he dehydrated and then froze as an experiment. Usually frozen zucchini turns to mush. If it works, he will be using more of our zucchini for that instead of bread! Lol
Cathy:Look at your weight going down!
Amy: I havenât watched any of the Olympics!
Murphy: Glad you are feeling better.

Hi All!
Internet was off and on last night and I guess when it was on I wasn't. No one seems to know why the neighborhood is having issues but I'm not the only one. Just gets frustrating.
Made an "easy" version of Mongolian beef tonight...it is easier because the sauce has the taste but the beef is ground beef. It was tasty.
It has just been incredibly hot and motivation to be outside is just not happening. My motivation just isn't happening. Need to do a few errands tomorrow so hopefully motivated.
My nephew had the appointment today with the surgeon. Cancer has not spread thankfully but looks like he will still lose his voice box and part of his tongue. Surgery remains scheduled for August 3.
One job DS applied for has moved him forward to the next step but I can tell he is discouraged. The other males that were terminated have not found jobs. Several of his friends were terminated from Wells Fargo...downsizing...and they are having a hard time as well. Luckily he was not a spender so he has funds but would like to not spend them.
Amy, thanks for getting us started! I was up at 3 AM but couldn't get on the site...fell back to sleep at 5. I really need to pay attention to the 250 steps per hour....just being too lazy. Thanks for getting the Fitbit challenges going as well. I just need to focus! I did watch the women's water polo vs China tonight...happy the USA team won!
Liz, glad that DH has his own room/space...counts for a lot (at least in my world). Hope he continues to progress and is motivated! Take good care of yourself! Any word on your retirement?
Murphy, very glad you checked in! New day, new start, new appreciation of each day! Hugs!
Cathy, love the photos on the wardrobe site. I'm not good about commenting but think you look amazing in red!
Jan, just know you are having a wonderful time!
GG, so glad that you are making such great progress. Hope the zucchini lasagna turned out well. I can remember (way back when) that I breaded zucchini to make a zucchini loaf and it turned out well. Then I discovered chocolate zucchini muffins!
Carole, how are things going?
Planning on waking up with "vim and vigor" or at least, mild enthusiasm. DS has got to get his car back on the road. There is a leak that he needs to trace but it is just so hot.
Got to get back to wash! and making the bed with fresh sheets...nothing like avoiding tasks!
Hugs to all, Cindy
