Good morning friends. Slept well and grateful. Also grateful to wake up to a temperature in the 60's Hopefully it will only reach 70's today as they said would happen. We shall see.
I need to make a trip to Hannaford's either today or tomorrow. That's the only thing on my agenda.
Judy I hear your frustration on living like 'perfect little people' Praying that you hear something soon. Happy you're enjoying the Olympics. I can also relate to setting boundaries for house showing. I think it's a great idea to be with family and your work schedule sounds very doable. Pam as always you cram a lot into a day. At one point I swore people were breaking in and leaving us laundry! Amazing how it piles up. Happy to say that I have ONE LOAD to do today I should have done it yesterday but just when I was about to we have a rip roaring thunder storm. Luckily we didn't lose power. Didn't last long but it was fierce. By that time the mood was gone Your hot chocolate with Bailey's Irish Cream sounded delightful.
Waving and shall CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Hump Day!! We woke to a nice cool morning as well today (only mid-60's) but to promises to get to mid-80's by later this afternoon. So I'll make the most of the early part of the day.
DH went last evening and took his mechanic to inspect the new truck and he was good with it. He offered to by DH's current truck outright, but DH turned him down. I wish he had accepted, because I know (from experience) how these things go. His current plan is to have his mechanic fix it up and then sell it (for more). I know how those things get put on a back burner, and I'll just mentally write-off the loss. Then if it happens, I can be pleasantly surprised.
Ann ~ I will hope for you (and along with you) that your temps stay moderate today. We are certainly due!
Judy ~ Enjoy your family time! How great that you can switch around your work hours. Is it already time for you to go back to the office? Time flies when you're having fun. Thoughts and prayers for a real estate offer today!!
Pam ~ You are busy as always! I know you're getting anxious for your visit from your Michigan family. I was inundated with vehicle information yesterday which caused me to not sleep well. My car is a lease (until next May) so there's nothing urgent about it. But right now while used cars are at a premium my salesman ran the numbers and when I get a new one (which I already picked out) my payment will stay about the same. That's good news! DH is the one getting a newer truck and I am so happy for him!! He is long overdue!
Today I have an open schedule as well and one thing I simply MUST do is get out for a walk. I haven't been in a few days and I miss it. I'm already dressed in walking clothes, so as soon as DH leaves, I'm out of here.
Pray for us today as he meanders his way through this financial transaction. This is not his forte but I am leaving it up to him. I tried gentle reminders to *get the title* and *make sure it gets added on our insurance* and other little tidbits. I am sure I'll get drawn into it sometime, but I'll try to leave it up to him (as much as possible).
BBL. Make a great day!

Sue I hear you. Praying for a nice cool weather break all across the board Last night's thunderstorm did cool things down but brought out my dear friends the 'mosquitoes'. Sheesh. This time they were so brutal that Carl that is normally never bothered got some bites on his back. I also would have jumped at the truck offer but men see things differently. Like you I've learned (finally) to not make his issues my issues. I hear you on taking a back seat to 'financial stuff' especially those regarding cars and titles and whatnot. Hopefully you will get to play a very minor roll it it. I also want to walk and will depending on the flying insects. Our area is quite buggy......Unfortunately no matter what I use it is useless. Ann ~ What a great saying!! "not to make his issues my issues". What a great thing to remember. When I told DH that I woke up at 3 in the morning worrying and had a dozen things running through my head, he asked why I didn't wake him up and talk to him instead of worrying? We are absolutely at opposite ends of the spectrum in that regard. I worry about things sometimes unnecessarily, and he doesn't worry at all and it usually works out exactly the same either way.
I have called the Credit Union and talked to the nicest lady! I need to make a large withdrawal from our savings account there to pay for the truck. She was SO helpful, suggested a cashier's check instead of a bagful of $$ and also told me I could just go through the drive-thru and put a sticky note in with my ID with the name to go on the check and the amount, also whatever I want typed on the check. I don't have to order it ahead of time or anything. Whew!
So now my part is done (for now) and I think I will go out for a walk.

OMG I swear our DH's are joined at the hip. Carl worries about nothing. And me? Polar opposite. And yes...things happen with or without the worry and most of the time in our favor. I guess it's just the way some people are wired. Glad you liked my saying That is an ideal situation to do the withdrawal from savings for the truck. It's so refreshing to get a helpful customer service representative that goes the extra mile. I am happy that you got to cross that off your 'to do' list. Enjoy that walk...you've earned it. We hit Hannaford's and got some great produce deals as well as loin pork chops for tomorrow Those were 1.00 off as they were a manager's special. Nobody had to twist my arm to place them in the cart LOL. Now we are home and all is put away. Carl is busy in the shed doing whatever he feels the need to do. I'm about ready to pick up the kindle and read. When the sun is out it's quite warm and it's playing hide and seek. I will walk again but only when I see clouds in the sky LOL. Then I wonder why I'm vitamin D deficient Tootles!

Hi Ann ~ I am back home and all is done. DH called me and he was going to go to the Credit Union (he said unless I was planning to). Since I had the information, I decided to go and getting the check was just as easy as the customer service lady had told me it would be. Wonderful!!
I met up with DH up the street, and I drove him to the car place. I got to met the seller, who is a semi-retired car dealer from way back. It seems now he just dabbles. But DH's new truck was sitting outside and she is just as cute as I remember. It is spotless, had paper mats on the floor due to just being detailed, and was sparkling in the sunshine.
DH drove the new truck back to his Shop and we parked it there. It is quite a bit smaller than the Avalanche (which I always thought was a beast - along with being a beauty) and he looks so good driving it. It is smaller enough that I could easily drive it (though I doubt I ever will). I took him back to get his old truck and while there, we popped in a local restaurant for some lunch. We both had a BLT and I enjoyed my iced tea very much! I had only eaten yogurt & berries w/F1 for breakfast and then a HB egg and banana for lunch, so I was pretty hungry; and the sandwich was just the perfect thing! Tonight we are having a tossed salad with grilled salmon on top. I will still be well below my SP for the day.
I have cleaned out a couple of drawers in my file cabinet downstairs (way behind!) and made up a new folder for the new truck and put copies of his documents in it. I also pitched the files for his previous two vehicles <LOL> It is trash day here and I got the trash container out of the front of the garage, and while I was at it, I filled a sack with old stuff and put it inside. I also called our insurance company and added the new truck on our policy. I left the old truck for the time being, because DH will need to move it some. When he sells it, I'll remove it.
Since I think I am all done with today's chores, I will go read a bit. Have a great afternoon!

Sue that is such super duper news. Thanks for sharing. Wishing DH a grand time as he cruises down the highways I bet he looks and feels great behind the wheel! I sat and read a bit then decided to finish up the laundry. Now I am officially all caught up. Our trip to Hananford's was a good one and we are now all stocked up once again. Tonight we are having breaded chicken patties with sweet potato air fries and pickled beets. Super easy and we like that combination. I add sliced tomato lettuce and light miracle whip to the chicken sandwiches and serve them on grilled hamburger buns. Easy peasy and good. The sun is still beating down. Will wait until it sets before we walk Benjamin one final time. He's good going out in the yard as at times he just isn't up for a walk and we never push him. Carl is grilling supper and I'm going to set the table. IT's such a nice feeling to be all done with chores...happy reading, Sue

Hi!
The days are zipping by so fast, I have trouble remembering what I did when. Today, while DH was in hyperbaric tx, I ran by Walmart for 2 items. I left with 5 and none were what I went in for, since neither item was available. Then I headed to Home Depot to pick up stuff DD3 ordered for chores they intend to do here. I had about an hour and a half to wait for DH, so I downloaded a new audio book from the library. I'm enjoying it very much. It's a light romance called Beach Read by Emily Henry. Once DH got out of the hyperbaric chamber, he had his weekly wound care visit with the doctor. The wound continues to shrink and the doctor decided to put a cast on again. This means I don't have to do daily wound care. Yay! Not sure if DH will make it until next Wednesday without needing the cast changed, but the nurse said they would do it Monday if they need to.
We ate sandwiches and fruit in the car for lunch, then hurried home. I just had time to change and do my hair before heading to BTR for the credit union meeting. DD2 and I made plans to meet so I could give her the car seats for the kids, as she will pick up DD3 and family at the airport on Saturday. I left home just before 3:00 and didn't get far before I realized I had forgotten the car seats. I turned around, went home and got them and called her to tell her to give me an extra few minutes. It all worked out and we got the exchange done in the CU parking lot, which is not far from her apartment. It also saved me from hauling them up to her 2nd floor apartment and her having to haul them to the parking garage.
I was the only board member to attend the meeting in person and all of us, the management staff and I, wore masks and sat apart. I declined our usual restaurant dinner out afterwards. The number of Covid cases in LA has sky-rocketed and I just didn't want to chance it, especially since I don't know who is vaccinated and who is not. On the way home, I stopped to get gas so we will be ready to go in the morning. By the time I got home, DH had a small container of crab and shrimp au gratin in the oven for me. I made a salad to go with it and enjoyed my dinner very much. We watched the last episode of Bosch before DH turned in for the night. I am not going to be far behind him. We were joking today that we were both wishing it was Friday, instead of Hump Day.
I still have things that should get done before DD3 and family arrive, but have no idea if I will get it all done. Tomorrow, I need to get hospice visits done, mine and the one for the volunteer whose husband tested + for CV. Another volunteer called this week to say she can't do visits right now because she is babysitting grandkids. I had her do a phone visit this week and next week, my supervisor can decide whether to reassign the case to someone else. I just can't fit another visit in this week. I also need to spend some time at the office mailing out sympathy cards to the families of the 3 patients who died this week. Maybe Friday? Thank goodness my supervisor will be back on Monday!
Sue - What a tightrope we walk with our DHs, trying to be helpful, yet not controlling! Sometimes I want to pull out my hair. DH was supposed to talk with the PCP Monday about seeing a dietitian. We discussed it beforehand and then again on the way to the appt. When I asked what the doctor said, his response was "Oh sh*t! I forgot to ask." I just told him he doesn't need a doctor's referral and to call whenever he wants to schedule. As much as I want this for him, I know if I call and make an appointment he will say I'm trying to boss him around.
Ann - Your dinner sounded great! I love pickled beets and sweet potato fries. We often have homemade breaded chicken patties, but I never thought to eat them on a bun. Great idea!
Judy - I thought to check and see if you had posted while I was typing and saw your wonderful news! HURRAH!!! Can't wait to hear all about it.
I'm jammified and will read until I start falling asleep. Sweet dreams!
