WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Just wanted to post an update....My Mom is home from the hospital and doing remarkable well. The meds worked wonders. She has no sign she even had a stroke. They said the Hugh factor was getting her to the hospital within 4 hours of first sign. She, thank god, was on the phone with SIL when speech started to slur. SIL called her back and she didnโt answer. My DB called the cops to check on her, broke in the door and she was slumped on chair. Rushed to hospital and got the meds in time. She is truly Blessed and has a guardian angel watching over her. Iโll be staying with her at least a few days to watch for any signs of secondary stroke.... Very scary to think how different all of our lives would be if my SIL didnโt react....
Nancy, hope weโre able to reschedule...
Hope all are doing well.

Day 163. This healthy eating is feeling really natural. No sugar cravings, but some occasional salty-snack cravings. DH bought a huge bag of Bugles (a favorite) and I portioned out 2 servings for myself, enjoying them on 2 different days. Yay!
Lori: Amazing to hear about your mom, and the quick reactions that got her the stroke meds she needs. So thankful for you all! A reminder to treasure each day.
Nancy: Thank you for always affirming me (and all of us).
Kathy: I love that you got a kayak for Mother's Day. Perfect gift!
I did the rower this morning and plan to go on a non-Jan-type bike ride tomorrow with DD.
Peace to all.

Kathy - Still in the swing. Wish I could say the same.
Lori - Scary to say the least. I've heard similar stories that didn't end as well. So happy to know that DM is happily in her own home and that you're available to stay with her until she is thoroughly stabilized. Missed our get together but know that we'll figure something out.
Meg - Continued kudos. You are simply awesome!!! Still watching daily for these glorious posts. Who would have thunk?
