Good afternoon from hot and sticky Dayton. We had a piddle of rain for about 10 minutes this morning. The sun has been out since late morning. We may get a storm this afternoon. It is looking less and less likely. I pocked a few green beans and I think I saw some eggplants forming. 🤞🏼 No sign of the Armenian cucumbers yet. The regular cucumbers I got at the farmers’ market were excellent. How is everyone today? Karen, how was Osteo and the gym? Linda, any more dust storms? Becky, how are Kenneth, the kitties and Scooter? Are your bites healed yet? Kathy, I read where Disney will require masks again starting tomorrow. I think. Waving to moonriver, Denise and Liz.

Chele, I just saw that about Disney. Glad to hear hear they have some common sense. Usually the other theme parks follow their lead. DeSantis did say that the new Orange County guidelines are okay since they are voluntary and no fines are involved. He is going to fight the counties that have imposed new mandatory mask mandates. They can't impose them for students since the kids need to breathe. He also said that Florida is an "oasis of freedom", so come on down! Karen and Becky, what do you think of Texas and OK going to the SEC? Steve Spurrier said Texas can't win the Big 12 anyway! Not sure who asked him, but it sounds like he hasn't mellowed any in his older age.
Karen, looks like Publix has a BOGO on the Bird's Eye Steamfresh veggies this week, so I'll probably stock up on some of those. DM got a coupon in the mail for $8 off each of her next 4 orders, but I didn't get one! It showed up in her Informed Delivery for her mail and I haven't seen one in mine, so it's not that it got lost in the mail.
Linda, that was interesting on the people born in 1900. They sure didn't have an easy time of it. Liz, almost to Friday! Have things calmed down any since the survey is over? Looks like we might have more storms today. We got some heavy rain again yesterday. Hope everyone has a good day.

Linda, I don't even understand why it's legal to do such a completely biased audit. Our county positivity rate just went to 16%. Of the 1,347 new cases on 7/27 ... 98% were unvaccinated and 26 were breakthrough cases. That's at least a little bit of encouraging news for the vaccinated. I don't think we're even at the peak of this surge yet though.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Like Kathy, I'm surprised anyone had any kind of reaction to your masks at Sam's. Maybe he's been living under a rock for the past year and a half. A lot of your fellow Ohioans are visiting us right now. I saw a bunch of them on the roads today. At one point I wondered if you and Iggy were the only ones who stayed there. Hope you enjoyed all that rain. I've only had a few cucumbers so far, so I guess both of ours are taking their time. I grew Armenians last year and I remember their being kind of late. But when they started coming, I could barely keep ahead of them. I was close to my average at Osteo today, which was a relief after how bad last week went. The gym wasn't very crowded, which was wonderful. Got an entire workout done and didn't have to wait for anything.
Kathy, did you hear Kevin McCarthy's rant on mask wearing in Congress yesterday? Pelosi is right--he's a moron. Hasn't he been in your state to kiss the ring recently? And he doesn't consider that a hot spot? We are in our 4th day with new cases over 2,000 and positivity rates over 12%. Almost 1,000 people are in the hospital right now. I hope some of the non-vaccinated will listen to what Biden said this afternoon but I'm not holding my breath. I know masks in heat are not be comfortable, but no masks at theme parks is a bit scary. Glad that seems to have changed despite DeSantis. "Oasis of freedom" or oasis of irresponsibility? It's a shame you can't get the zip code data now. We only got to 96 yesterday but I saw 97 in the car coming home. Are you still enjoying a little cooler weather? We're having to water twice a day right now to keep the fruit trees/bushes happy. I usually water the bales and containers twice a day anyway because they dry out more quickly. I was a little surprised by the announcement from "the other UT" and the Sooners. Apparently somebody from Texas A&M said, "why do you think we left the Big 12?" I have to say that Oklahoma could give the Crimson Tide some competition. Texas could give teams competition in both men's and women's basketball. Texas would also give the Vols and Vandy a run for their money in baseball and swimming. It will be weird, but so was the Aggies in the SEC. Maybe I'll get to see my Horns play more often. Dale looks for his alma mater--Texas State--to petition to be in the Big 12. Hate to burst Stevie's bubble, but Texas HAS won the Big 12, in 1996 (first year for the conference), 2005 (when we also won the national championship), and 2009. The first was under John Mackovic and the last 2 were under Mack Brown. I saw the Steamfresh veggies on sale but it wasn't worth stopping just for that. I did find a medley at TJs I think you would like (doesn't include corn). It has broccoli, green beans, peas, and zucchini. I also got some frozen artichoke hearts, which I can't seem to find anyplace else. Nice perk for DM. Hope you'll get one soon as well. From what I've heard, the Department of Justice has warned AZ in writing a couple of times about things they are doing that may not be legal. I wish Garland would do more than just warn them.
Things have changed so much in just over 120 years, Linda. But things are also very different than they were when we were kids in the 50s and 60s. What a lousy night both of you had and I don't blame you for having no ambition today. That humidity really ratchets up the heat and just saps it out of you. $5.7M is a lot of money. I could suggest numerous more worthy things to spend it on. Do they really think all that money is going to the fraudit? Can you say, "Gullible"?? I heard about the viral loads vaccinated people can carry. I don't want to make anyone ill, but this is all preventable, so if they get sick, it's on them not me. I plan to start wearing a mask at Osteo next week and will everywhere but the gym and I'm major distanced there.
Liz, how's the visit going? Will it be finished this week? If not, I hope you won't have to work the weekend. Is Zoe continuing to improve? Anything going on with your boy? How many more weeks does Gary have to work? Will he go before or after Labor Day?
How's the garden doing, Denise?
Becky, did you buy more jewelry last night? Still loving the new phone?
I did some stocking up at TJ's today. Lots of frozen veggies, low sodium veggie broth (the best anywhere!), and some organic diced tomatoes with medium green chilies that are awesome with macaroni. Traffic wasn't really bad today, which was a welome surprise. We didn't get any rain like Chele did. May get some on Sunday and that would be nice.

Thanks for the start Chele. You beat us in rain. We had a piddle of rain this afternoon for about 5 minutes. Scooter had tried to get out of the yard gate when we were going to get the cattle in. She knew something was happening and she was right. We had thunder and lightning so we came in too. Everyone is doing well. The scars are almost gone finally but we have mosquitos in the master bath so I get bit when I go to shower and we still get a few ants. I have one small cucumber left. I will actually have to put them on my grocery list for tomorrow.
Kathy I think it's a good idea for Texas and Oklahoma to go to the SEC. I don't think they are going for 4 more years. I like their yearly game so I hope they get to keep it. I couldn't believe some of the Aggies don't want to start their game back up again. Must be young kids who really don't know about the intense rivalry.
Karen I guess we agree to disagree on Pelosi. I think she is a moron. Most of the time I just see her with her mask around her neck. Last night was just the party but I did order more to help the gal hosting the party. I also ordered night cream from MK. The actual jewelry party for the hostess is tomorrow night at 8:30 so I may just pop in since I already did my order. I will be hosting a jewelry party on 8/9 I think and I told the MK I could host a MK party on FB as long as she did the talking and she is good at that. She lives in Taylor and she told me about a good ear piercing place in Taylor. I had let my ears grow closed and earrings for this company are cheaper than anything else. I have plenty of necklaces and bracelets now.
