I am sorry i havent posted. As you all know i have been having digestive issues for awhile now. In fact this has been going on for a little over 5 weeks now. Spent yesterday in the ER. Diagnosis was diverticulitis or ulcerative colitis. They werent sure which. But after scans and bloodwork thats what they determined. Started me on antiobiotics. Hopefully that will do the trick.im exhausted by such pain. Ive tried to read every day but just no strength to post.

My day yesterday was not good at all. I’ll give you background info first. The Tuesday before our trip Fred came home from golf and was trying to tell me about a problem he had putting the car in park and kept telling me the dividend didn’t work plus a few other garbled words. I said Fred you are not making sense as there is no dividend in a car, are you okay? He assured me he was fine and there most certainly was a dividend in the car. He kept stumbling over the word and I said I think you are having a stroke, let’s go to the ER! He said no I think this is heat related and then he was talking fine and was saying how he couldn’t get the car to go from drive to park but finally managed to. Okay well I still think you need to get checked but he refused. So Thursday we left on the trip and I forgot about it. Sunday night after we got home he said you know I’ve been in AFIB the whole time we were gone? I said how do you know as he never feels the symptoms and he said I was manually checking my pulse and I could feel the racing. I asked why didn’t he say something? He just thought it would stop as it usually only lasts a few hours. He then took his blood pressure and it was up so he did go to the doctor Tuesday who sent him to the hospital for a CAT scan. We kept waiting to hear and Fred kept checking his blood pressure and our regular doctor’s nurse called and said you need to call your heart doctor as you probably need to get back on a blood thinner as your CAT scan is okay now but it does show you had a stroke in the last three years. Have no clue why he had no symptoms of it. Anyway yesterday his blood pressure kept going up and we could not get through to our primary doctor but did get through to the heart doctor’s nurse who said she would talk to the doctor and call us back. Fred then took his blood pressure again and it was 181/123! I said okay I’m done with doctor’s offices we’re going to the ER right now! We checked in there at 3:30 and did not get put in a room for about an hour. By then his blood pressure started coming down but he was still in AFIB. The first doctor said you do need to be on a blood thinner and we know it will probably give you a stomach bleed like before and if it does you will have to stop and then we will discuss putting in a watchman that filters the blood to prevent clots but that is only if the blood thinner does not work. Then a second doctor came in and said he was having a neurologist come to check him out and so he did and the neurologist was really nice but said he wants an MRI done as he’s pretty positive he had a stroke within the last three years but not as recent as 10 days ago and only the MRI will show the damage. But not to worry as for now he’s fine but if left untreated he could have a full blown stroke at any time. So we had the first doctor talking to our primary doctor and the neurologist talking to our heart doctor and all said yes back on blood thinner and also his Lipitor dosage is to go from 5 grams to 40 grams a day. The first doctor we saw said sooner rather than later he is to see the heart doctor and our primary care doctor. We both said good luck on our primary doctor as an appointment within a week is impossible. But Fred does have an appointment with the np so the ER doctor said that will work as once in the office I’m pretty sure your doctor will see you as he was the one who said he wants to see you. So anyway we were in the ER from 3:30 yesterday afternoon until 10:30 last night. Then when I got up I noticed Bridgette had major diarrhea during the night. I know it was her as Bailey came to bed with us. So I’ll try watching her to be sure it is her as I still have some of the tablets left to stop diarrhea. So that’s what’s going on in my world!

Oh, Sandy, prayers for Fred and you. Jenny, I'm glad you posted today. May everything calm down for you and your issues. Phyl, may all go well in your world with your health.
Kathie, have a great time on your trip.
Today I head back home. I would like to see my sister but I am not sure we will do that. We are still under heat advisory so we may just go on to my house and DD turn around and get back home as soon as possible. I have had a great week. It is time to get home though. The coffee pot out here in the guest house bit the dust so DSIL brought me a cuppa from the house on his way to work. No more until DD gets up then I will go in and have more. Gotta get all my stuff ready to load. I will be back to normal next week and get August up tomorrow night. You know me it will be early every night.
Thanks for July, Connie.
Have a great day all.

Sandy - prayers for you and Fred. My husband was the same way - I finally got him to go to urgent care and they sent to the hospital because he was having a stroke. We are getting some cooler weather - in the 70's and lower 80's for the next 10 days. When my sheets are done. I think I may go for a walk.

Oh goodness, Sandy, how stressful and it is a shame we have so much trouble getting appointments. We want it done right now and it never happens that way , not even in ER. There we see whomever is the Dr of the day. Never see your PCP during that time. I feel like they spend all our time doing tests on top of tests and hard to even get the results. Good luck to you and Fred. I know you are frantic. He sounds like pretty laid back but still he must be worried inside also.
My DD#2 had a PCP appointment today and blood work all good and she is too. has Been through a lot of stress these last 2 weeks. but she is such a calming person. not sure what her DH would do without her. She stopped after her appointment and we went to bank to have her put on my checking account. I did call and they said just come in no appointment needed. So we are both glad to have that done. After her Mother in law died last week, it just brought to mind how important that is. In Pa the estate is still responsible for all the outstanding bills and would be forever to get your money back if you are not on the checking account and able to pay the bills. And his Mom had done that. So now I have too. Just kept putting it off and hard to get a time for them to get to the bank. this worked out great.
Jenny , finally maybe some answers and will feel a bit better soon. Are you sure you are eating correctly for both of those things? Maybe Dr will give you some tips. My friend is not allowed to have a lot of veggies. Know you are like me, a real fan of veggies.
the humidity is down and there is a lovely cool breeze with lots and lots of sunshine. Pittsburgh and surrounding areas missed the bad storm and tornadoes , went south of them which makes it long way off for us and I am north of Pittsburgh. the big puffy clouds today are beautiful as is the blue blue sky. It has not been blue in long while.
the birds are really chirping today, and still no bird feeders. the humming bird has been at the plant on my porch so that is good thing. I did hang a wind chime on the humming bird shepherds hook. Looked weird just sitting there. no news on the bird disease.

Sandy: My prayers will be with you. I will have plenty of time to pray on my flight tomorrow. My DDIL checked me in which had to be done 24 hrs. in advance so I'm in good with the airline. I do have to wear a mask which is NOT a problem. I will leave the house at 8AM tomorrow and my DGSon will be driving me to the airport. I still haven't even come close to packing since Jim is still in bed and my clothes are in the bedroom but at least I have the suitcase ready and the traveling Waterpik.
Hope to tuak you all in tonight.

Back from the doctor and Fred will be on eliquis for the blood thinner. The chance of a bleed is less with this one but it could be very expensive. We'll know when we pick it up. I don't know if I shared with you that the doctors last night wanted his Lipitor increased from 10 grams a day to 40 but our doctor nixed that saying this stroke was not from a cholesterol problem but a blood clot problem and his cholesterol is low and no need to increase the dose. So I guess they are saying he did have a stroke but we won't know anything for sure until after his MRI on the 11th. He is still in AFIB but at this point nothing can be done and hopefully the eliquis will help with that but not to worry about it as the eliquis will prevent another stroke. Just be very watchful for any signs of bleeding. We think he ordered a 30 day supply which if we're reading it right will probably have a $47 co-pay but if you don't have insurance it's $400 for a 30 day supply! So that's what we know for now.

Hi!
Sandy, just said a prayer for Fred's condition. Those fearful days in the ER or the waiting rooms are so scary! Phyl, glad your tests turned out well. Welcome home Lucy! Good job all month, Connie! Jenny, so glad to see your post! Diane, I'm sure it was too hot to walk today. Who have I missed -- Nancy, did you take a walk? Kathy, have a fabulous time!!! God bless Bobbie!
Long day today to KCI and back. No problems though. Cousin and her husband are safely ensconsed in their hotel room. We all enjoyed "supper" at Cracker Barrel.
Hope to see you tomorrow, but I'm the main travel agent for our little group of four. My eyes are drooping. Need to give them some rest.
~~Mollyann
