If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love, July 7 - September 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes “how can you love someone else if you can’t love yourself”.
There are many ways we don’t show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over “why did I drink too much” and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happier”. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isn’t here, so let’s deal with the present.
So why is it so hard? The mind set "I messed up today so might as well just finish the bottle or finish the bag of chips” has to be changed.
The purpose of this eight week challenge is to discover the reasons behind our drinking and do the hard work it takes to change the behavior. It is a journey of self discovery that you may or may not want to share. This can be painful, this can be bring up old memories, this can be too difficult to tackle. The reasons are so varied. But remember this is a safe place to vent and share and if you are not comfortable sharing here, feel free to use our private FB site (by invitation request).
So does anyone think that alcohol is your friend? Anyone think that the next morning just looks so much better after a night of drinking? Does drinking bring you serenity? So why do we drink?
Some people can have an easy time of giving it up but for most, it just isn't that easy. Many of us start off great and then hit the wall at 10 days. Have you tried to journal your feelings as each day progresses and see what happens when you hit that wall?
"I will let the serene moments wash over me. I will cherish them. They soften me. And the blows of today's tumultuous storm will be lessened."

DH & I walked at the lake, then went exploring and found another park in Acworth with nice trails. No lake, but partly shady and no hills! The community center is there and apparently there will be a farmer's market today which we plan on checking out. Stopped at Publix for a few things on the way home, then DH helped me plant the lilies. It was only in the mid-80's, but felt much hotter. I was pretty wiped out, took a shower, rested a bit, then called my replacement to review what I need to do for her while she's on vacation, which starts today. I did not nap yesterday, but had trouble falling asleep last night. Probably b/c I planned on getting up early for work. Tossed and turned for a while, then got up and had a bowl of cereal, which seemed to help.
Jan- Sorry you slept poorly Wednesday night due to the thunderstorms, hope last night was better. Not buying any more junk food sound like a good plan for getting BOT. Hopefully the senior center stays open. The Walmart in Dallas has very little left in their garden center, but the one in Acworth still had quite a bit earlier in the week.
Murphy- Glad you slept better. Sorry about all the extra work for the HOA in regards to the folks not paying their dues. GL with the closing today.
GG- Sorry PT was so tiring. No masks were nice while it lasted.
Carole- GL with your double shifts.
Liz- Sorry Isabel had a bad day, poor baby. Glad it's so far, so good with DH eating again. You were smart to continue to mask up.
Cindy- I feel bad complaining about the heat when I hear about your. Yay for the hummers, GL with your new plants. Yay for the internet being better. I haven't seen bunnies in the bird seed, just squirrels and chipmunks.

nothing to report. Electricity still coming and going and when off that means no fan and it is warm. Did some laundry earlier and it is out on the line. Hope it dries before sun sets tonight. When we shopped we did pick up wine and I did have more than a glass last night. I was feeling like having some and did...so, yes Cindy, I still feel like having it sometimes BUT don't feel that as often as I used to.

Congratulations!
Good morning all! Woke up early this morning and since I don't have to be at the bank until 10:30, I decided to get into another dehydrating project. I've been watching YouTube videos and wanting to try dehydrating some sliced potatoes since I had some that would need to be thrown out in a couple of days. They were kind of small but I peeled them and then sliced them on my mandolin slicer. I also managed to slice a chunk off my thumb!! That thing is sharp!!! I think it has finally stopped bleeding after the 3rd bandage change! LOL. Anyway - I'll go to the bank and then celebrate with lunch at Chic FIL A. Much better choice than hitting the A store next to the bank for a bottle of champagne! LOL. Will check back afterward. Murphy

Check in Daily Accountability 5 I'm here!!! Time Management Accountability 3 Yesterday just felt like regrouping. Today I have a list Labor of Loving yourself first! July 7: 195 July 14: 195.7 July 21: 195.2 July 28: August 4: August 11: August 18: August 25: September 1: Final Weigh In/September 4: Good morning all. Had a good day yesterday but not really eating wise. The scale will be an old crank tomorrow, but not unexpected. Went t Panera with the knitting girls, cup of tomato soup and 1/2 a grilled cheese cost me 24 points so that day was a mess again. But I'm still looking things up and learning. No treats jumped into my cart and I passed on the 99c bakery you could add with your lunch entree, so baby wins. Today I have some garage sales scoped out, then sis comes this afternoon, not sure what the plan will be then. Maybe grill something for dinner. So close to finishing a pair of socks Ive been knitting forever, want to work on those today. I ordered a new/used Iphone yesterday, mine is just not updating the newer apps and it's time. I have a 6 and went to an XS. Supposed to have the best camera, even tho I usually use my "real" camera, maybe I'll finally get service at the cabin like everyone else. Hope you all have a great Friday. Jan Amy Sounds like so many fun places to walk and explore. Sorry about trouble sleeping but cereal is better than A. Will you have to work a lot this next week while your replacement is on vacation? I skipped Walmart yesterday after getting groceries at another store. Will need to go today for the cat food and to check the plants. Cathy Yay for getting the clothes done while you had some electricity. Hope you enjoyed the wine, good that you can still buy it if you want. Did you go out with friends this week? Cindy I'm sure all the critters are happy with their treats. I had gotten a solar fountain a couple of weeks back and it's already on the fritz. I need to see if it's just clogged up or just "cheap", which it really wasn't...Glad the toad found a friendly ride home and sure it'll enjoy your garden. Hope the internet is fixed up for good. Any vigor come your way? Liz Sorry the baby was cranky, is she old enough to be starting to teeth? Glad to hear DH is starting some foods and doing better. Take care of you too!! What are you knitting on? Still blankets? Carole GL with your early shift, I couldn't do it anymore I'm curious what horror stories you've heard about those getting the shots, I've really not heard much about that, yes some adverse reactions, some people had clots? but for the number that have received it seems like pretty normal percentage, like how many react to flu shot or penicillin. Guess it depends on which news and things you read. Stay safe. It's going to be interesting when more jobs require it, not sure what the legal aspects of that will stir up. Guess if they can fire CIndy's son for not filling out a survey, companies can do anything. GG Do you take Advil or something after PT to help with the aches? What plans to you have for the weekend? Is DH doing better on his eating choices this week? Do you ever say anything or just let him eat and drink what he does? Always say we can only be responsible for ourselves and not try to police others. Murphy I liked your idea about freezing portions of the rice. I can take some back to the cabin then and make teriyaki bowls or something with chicken and veggies. Do you spend much time with your neighbor who moved in next to you? Do you have any other trips planned for the fall? Hope you get some rain and that you're doing well. Pink nails sound pretty!! I probably just missed my 7 am steps....duh better get moving!!

Hi all! Sorry I forgot to report back after the closing! Everything went fine and quickly. It's just a relief to know that the money is tucked away if/when needed for the roof! My thumb is still sore but at least it's not bleeding anymore. At least I don't think so. I'm afraid to take the bandage off! LOL. After the bank business, I stopped and got gas and then ran by the post office. This afternoon, I've been dehydrating broccoli to have on hand for broccoli cheese soup this winter. It's nice to be preserving some food from the freezer which helps make room there! I wish I knew how to can stuff. Mom did lots of vegetables and jams and jellies but I would like to know how to can meats.
Forgive the lack of personals. I'm realizing that typing makes my thumb hurt! See you in the morning! Murphy
