OMG, Sandy. Thank goodness the PCP will see Fred instead of the NP. Please keep us posted. {{{Hugs}}}
Ahh, KC. I was worried about you as well when I heard the news. Thank goodness you are all ok--that was close!
Sharon, you are right. I must order furniture...soon. Thanks for the reminder.
Baby steps are still steps, Pat. {{{Hugs}}} to you both as well.
Vicki, so sorry about your cat.
It is hot here today. I awoke at 7 and it was already 80 degrees and that is to be the low for the day. It's ok as there are always the pools and I did an aqua aerobics class this am. I think I will visit one of the outdoor pools this evening and perhaps do some walking in the resistance pool. I want to go food shopping soon. I got a list of a few things DD wants ready when they get here...coffee stuff. They are driving down with their 3 cars, leaving tomorrow AM. I do not envy them.
I sent a birthday e-card to my friend who has done those weird things and she answered with a thank you. Still no mention of her change in our room arrangements. So weird.
Also heard from my DSis. She is thinking of moving and I told her she should come here and visit. Such a good life for seniors.
Ciao

Greetings: Whew! We are here in Macungie, PA. I'm sitting on the deck with the awning over me and I can see the screen fine. I think I'm going to work at using the laptop at home. It's just so pleasant outside!
The way I'd set up the traveling was the most miles the first day and fewer each subsequent days. Two days also had time changes. I thought the first was the most challenging, on the schedule, but it turned out to be Wednesday. We were stopped in Indiana for two hours for I-70 road construction and shortly after that, stopped for about half an hour for clean up from a crash. Very sobering. No one could have survived that crash. Then yesterday we had more stops for road construction and RAIN in PA. It rained and rained! We got here about 5:30 which wasn't bad, but the plan was to arrive at 4 ish. We're here which is all that matters. Both Bill and I are managing their stairs just fine. I was more worried about Bill than me. My boot is doing okay. We made a short trip to Target today. DDIL said their grocery section had high prices. Bill wanted his special cereal and I wanted strawberries. Everything I bought was less than we usually get it when it's on sale. It was a delight!
They have gone off to the pool. We've never spent so much time with them, so we decided that DDIL and the 3 DKS needed some time. So we are here. We're going to a Chinese Buffet that we've been to before. It's practically tradition to go there the first night, but since they'd also had a tornado warning late yesterday afternoon the decision was to just stay home. She made lentil pasta. Bill didn't like it, but I did. So, he had something else which she'd made and I had the pasta.
This is Wednesday's QOTD. QOTD: Answer any or all.
1. Do you snack between meals? Sometimes in the afternoons I'll have a cup of herbal or fruit tea and something. At home are the WW bars but when they are gone, they won't be replaced. I'll have to find something lower in sugar. Fruit, natural sugar, is fine, but you've mentioned it. I haven't started cruising for low sugar snacks. I don't have one every day, just now and then.
2. What are some healthy between meal snacks, other than fruit. We all know fruit. I think protein is a good snack. It usually helps curb sugar cravings for me. We buy a bag of jerky at Costco and it requires a lot of chewing. I like deviled eggs, too. I'll make deviled eggs and maybe have two halves for a snack. Other than those, I don't know for sure. It is on my radar for the future.
3. Do you eat after dinner? More yes than no. It's a childhood thing for me, and a deprivation thing for Bill. We have gone several evenings without a dessert, which I was shocked that we could do, but it's the fav. It's an explicit dessertish thing at 9 p.m. or sometimes earlier. Maybe a small glass of port with a chocolate or a dessert. I made a blueberry peach cobbler before we left and put it in the freezer.
4. How often do you weigh and why? Because I'm in this boot, I'm not on my regular schedule. Normally I weigh every day and record it in a small calendar. It helps to ground me in the number. I don't get nutso about the number, but it helps me be stable. Because I can't exercise I am just working on less intake. I don't want to know the number right now.
5. How regularly do you track your food? I know I should. I feel more in control when I do. I've given thought to tracking now since I'm not weighing and it's going to be at least 3 more weeks before I can weigh. But, it's the least successful of my weight management plan. I do keep some sort of running guide in my head.
6. If youāve ever had trouble getting back into exercise, what worked for you?
Okay. I'm going to Thursday's posts.

QOTD: According to Business Week theses are the best streaming services for 2021. Which do you have for on demand viewing (even if not mentioned)? If you do not have cable, which Live TV service do you have? Do you like what you are using? If they are paid services do you feel they are worth the price?
*Best on-demand video streaming services: Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, Apple TV Plus, Paramount Plus, and Amazon Prime Video.
*Best live TV streaming services: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, Sling TV, FuboTV, Philo TV, and AT&T TV.
AOTD: I've highlighted what we have. Disney Plus and Amazon Prime are shares from DS. Peacock comes as part of our Comcast. There seems to be an Amazon Prime Plus which we don't access. Without it some Amazon Prime shows cost. We don't pay.
We aren't happy with what we have. DH wants certain shows. If we could just get those shows we'd ditch the whole cable thing. The cost is way more than it's worth to us. But it's what those things we want, cost.
Weather here is lovely though we are getting breezes. I may have to roll up the canvas. There is a toad on the frame. He's become a part of the family. I don't know how he keeps from getting squished when they roll it up!
Geri, congrats on that weight loss!ll do the
Jane, you do suffer fools well. So much beetter than I would.
Gail, I'm sorry about your friend. She may be losing it. Literally.
Sharon, one thing. Pick one thing. You were doing so very well with your meal plans. You can do it! You did it before. I just hate it when anything interrrupts my routines - my meal plans, my exercise, my water intake. It's all a delicate balance. When one thing gets messed up it's so hard to keep the others in line and they usually don't stay in line. What I am really holding onto right now is my food. I'll have to make adjustments, I know, while we're here, but if I can keep at veggies, fruit, protein and keep the sugar low and watch how full I'm getting, I hope I can do this. I think I am going to return to tracking to ratchet up my observation of what I'm eating. This is not easy.
It's so good to read all of your notes and see how things are going for all.
Vicki, Sandy and Sharon, it was I-70 that was our real nemesis. That's how we came across. In Kansas we juggled around a bit. We don't like paying tolls and Kansas charges to go on I-70. Instead of coming across PA, we drop down and go in and out of Maryland and West Virginia. It's so funny. DH moans about going south and then back north. So, I say ok, we'll pay the tolls. Which he doesn't want to do. It's sort of which choice is least desirable. Funny.
Marlo, I've lost track of when you go to where the Big Guys will do your MRI. It sounds like you probably want to be there anyway. Hopefully they will have some answers.
Pat, hopefully Jerry is improving.
DSs use streaming services. I keep thinking about that because it is so expensive!

I finally signed up for my free Apple TV. It turns out that I get 1 year free. I don't know why I thought it was 6 months. I am watching THE MORNING SHOW series because it has Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston starring. I also started watching TED LASSO that Gail recommended. They are both interesting in different ways.

Good afternoon!
My goodness thereās so much going on for everyone.
Hopefully things are going well for Fred at the doctorās visit. Poor Bridgette, hope she feels better, too.
Karen E glad you made it safely, now enjoy! My MRI will be in Sept. and yes I am more confident with the main MGH Boston campus.
Sharon, you seem to be eating well still. Remember how good your blood work etc has been and how good you feel in WFPB. Did you also mention that the program was good for Donās frame of mind. Just throwing out some things to consider.
This morning I had an eye exam. Rushed, I ate a big apple before leaving and brought some cherries to tide me over so I could stop at Walmart to pick up a curtain rod that I had ordered When I came home I made Romaine, beets, avocado, cannelloni bean, pumpkin seed with lemon juice salad. I felt so good. Then I decided to make popcorn as Iām avoiding having it after dinner. It bogged me down, think I should eliminate it. Since I donāt eat chips, pretzels etc I enjoyed popcorn. Iāve decided to make the tortilla chips from corn tortillas and have a little hummus instead.
At this point I have very minor remnants of āfloatersā in my eyes. The doctor said theyāre just a sign of aging. They never go away, the brain just ignores them! He said everyone has cataracts but if one can see fine then itās not an issue. My eyes looked very healthy and my vision hasnāt changed in 3 yrs. Still donāt need glasses to drive!
Itās encouraging that Jerry is taking steps in the right direction, Pat. Hope there are some answers about Molly, Vicki. Poor girl.
Enjoy the birthdays, Karen E. Glad DH will enjoy the casino with friends.
Enjoy the pool, Gail. Iād love to try tat Aqua class you mentioned. Iāve renewed for Aqua yoga and thereās a Zumba Gold class starting up nearby. Thatās always fun. Exciting that DD and clan will arrive soon!
New cases are soaring in MA. Such a dilemma. No one wants to roll back to mandating masks etc and be unpopular. Iām feeling doubtful that DD/DSIL will be going to that wedding in Chicago 9/4. A doctor on NPR stated today that one can still contact the Delta variant and it spreads alarmingly. It is 3 times more infectious. She said one vaccinated is more protected but if infected can still have severe issues. It is worth paying attention and making careful decisions at this point I think. At least read and listen and be informed.
Waving to all! I love Fridays and weekends. Hope every has a peaceful evening.
Marlo

Sandy I am glad Fred has listened to you and that your dr is seeing him. Hope Bridgette is ok
KC. Glad the tornadoes missed you and that you are safe.
Happy anniversary to Sharon and Don
Karen E hope the cake making and party go well.
Geri are you done traveling for awhile but I think you and Jeannie are going somewhere. However I am easily confused.
Karen C good that you are enjoying this family visit and able to use the stairs
I didnāt get to the pool today and I did the two hour bridge but wonāt next week. I can only take so much mask wearing and was hot and felt my face was chapping Plus the leader keeps putting me at a table with the person no one likes. However we played well together This is the person that everyone complains about. I kept my cool with her and only complained to her once but it was a justifiable complaint and I managed to pull out the win . I actually kept score because she cheats and the other pair didnāt know how. I was glad to have the two hours over
I had a struggle getting dressed today. My tremor was bad and dressing was stressful but I wasnāt rushed so finally managed. I wonāt go into the biggest problem but will be getting more front closure bras. My 4 were in the laundry . Also I canāt put in earrings with the post little whatever you call the thing that holds it in place. Finally gave that up.
The dryer just finished so waving

Jane my earring holes closed over COVID year. Iām only just now getting used to bras again. LOL
Marlo yes we eat lots of healthy food. I also eat junk. The weight gain is junk. Don is happy now with being around family and all the yard and outside work. I keep a lookout for his mental state. When we lived here in the Midwest before, he got depressed in the winters.
I just discovered Skinny Pop. Iām not sure thatās a good or bad thing.

Back from the doctor and Fred will be on eliquis for the blood thinner. The chance of a bleed is less with this one but it could be very expensive. We'll know when we pick it up. I don't know if I shared with you that the doctors last night wanted his Lipitor increased from 10 grams a day to 40 but our doctor nixed that saying this stroke was not from a cholesterol problem but a blood clot problem and his cholesterol is low and no need to increase the dose. So I guess they are saying he did have a stroke but we won't know anything for sure until after his MRI on the 11th. He is still in AFIB but at this point nothing can be done and hopefully the eliquis will help with that but not to worry about it as the eliquis will prevent another stroke. Just be very watchful for any signs of bleeding. We think he ordered a 30 day supply which if we're reading it right will probably have a $47 co-pay but if you don't have insurance it's $400 for a 30 day supply! So that's what we know for now.
Sharon I had to stop buying skinny pop as I couldnāt stop eating it! It is so good!
