Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. A perfect day predicted, weather wise, 53 right now, high 70's and no humidity for the day.
Marsha, about the storms we were told we were going to get the other night, I know I saw and heard some thunder and lightning, but it was nothing bad, and if we got those winds that were predicted, I did not hear them, and you could not tell by looking out, around here. It was not wet when I got up, so as with your rain gauge, I think we hardly got anything from that storm. My DD2 was mad, since she has so much in her backyard, like all different kinds of flower pots, iron tables and chairs, so she posted a pic on Facebook early that evening that everything was ready for the winds, with how she brought everything either into the garage, or close to the wall. Her friend posted a comment that she did the same thing, so she knew that we would not get anything, and sure enough, we didn't get anything. How was your lunch with your former co worker? That is what I miss, especially after seeing my close friends from when I worked at the hospital, and all those women knew DH so well. He was good for, when we had pot lucks, running things over to our break room that we needed, like paper plates, etc. He was like the lab mascot, since he worked nights back then, he was always available and willing to help out with whatever we needed. One time he ran to the store because our breakroom was out of coffee! Horrors!!! Can't let that happen! So all the women just loved DH. It was so much fun reconnecting with some of those ladies, at the Memorial. Anything fun planned for the weekend?
Gareth, I hope you like the recipe! I need to put that on my menu rotation, when I finally get that menu rotation straightened out. Today I have to divide up that Taco Junk, to freeze, as there is so much of that. Thank you, and yes, it seems that the worst of the storms stayed in the south of the state. Haha, funny....you said only 90 predicted for your day yesterday. ONLY! Are you expected to keep having those hot temps? I looked back on the calendar yesterday, and funny, I saw that how on the 1st I had my hair apt. That seems like so long ago!!! I feel like this has been a very long month. I hope August doesn't feel like that too. We are expected to get rain tomorrow, then Sunday is supposed to be great, so I think I will drive over to one of the trails and walk outside, which I have not done much of this summer, what with the high heat and humidity.
Anngie, it is nice to get rain, just as long as it clears and then the beautiful weather comes back. Yes, we had a discussion about the red yeast rice, and someone pointed out that with taking those, I needed to be taking CoQ10. So just keep that in mind, if you decide to look into the RYR. What with your niece's wedding coming up, you can do it! It took the Memorial to get me going on loosing weight for it, originally I wanted to loose 10# by then, but kept loosing, so by then I was up to 15# lost. You know what it takes, so good luck, I know you can do it! When I first went back to WW in May, they put me on the Blue plan, which has the most daily points. After a couple weeks, I decided I wanted less points and more free points, so I switched to the green plan, and since then it has been great. That Summer.....it sounds familiar, but just can't pull it out of my brain, I will have to look on my kindle.
Robin, I have been enjoying the watermelon this summer, it just seems so much more sweeter, so I don't mind cutting mine up, but if I was working, I would not be happy having to cut it all up. It sure looks like we will all be going back to mask wearing. I just hope that with all that has been scheduled to come back, like festivals, that those do not get canceled again. It has been nice doing normal things once again. I know with all the hugging, and standing close to groups of people at the Memorial, I have ended up with some kind of either cold or sinus infection. But since I do not have a fever, and otherwise feel fine, I am not going to worry about it.
Carol, that bike race sounds like pure torture! Yes, who would want to participate? But then you always hear, afterwards that they have so many people in it, just as any other stupid event in the hottest time of the year. I have learned over the years, what with doing the Atkins diet years ago, when that was the in diet, and diets that just count calories, that you are right about WW. That is the most sensible diet, and the proof is in the fact that most people that go on WW, come back to it, year after year, when they need it. I wouldn't be surprised if that woman at your church did the Keto diet. That was hot for awhile, but from what I have been hearing, that one is going the way that Atkins did. One of my friends on FB was promoting some kind of healthy diet, that goes along with a high impact workout routine. She is in her 40's, so she can do that, no way could I do some of those different routine's! So she can have that.
I bet Pinky is having a grand time, on vacation!!!
I am so happy to be getting out of the month of July!! Getting closer and closer to DGS JV football games! Now that DH won't be able to go and cheer him on, I will cheer for the both of us!!! When they had the games, back in 2019, when he was in middle school, I swear the whole neighborhood could hear us cheering!!!
If I was in a plateau, I am happy to see I broke through it. I lost 2# this week. So of course I have readjusted my goal weight. Since I lost 17.8 pounds, I reset my goal to loose 25 pounds. I hope I am not asking too much, so we shall see.
Have a nice day everyone!

Karen - I moved my potted tomato and my herbs to next to my house before the storm and had dh bring in his hanging spinny things so you are right, we were too prepared. Lunch was nice. My former coworker is retired and never married and her social life was always with her parents - going to dinner with them, drinks, football games. Her mother died several years ago and her father is quite sick now and for the first time I heard her express regret that she had never cultivated a social life independent of them. There is a lesson there I think. I wonder if there will be a spread of COVID after EAA ends. Congrats on breaking your plateau!
I see my weight creeping back up. Many weeks of bad habits are showing. I need to get a grip, and I feel that mentally I could do it now except I have too many travel plans and that always throws me off. Tomorrow we are heading to Milwaukee. We have evening tickets for the interactive Van Gogh exhibit. We'll stay over and hopefully see ds and ddil on Sunday at the Jewish Food Festival. (I hope so since we will have their birthday gifts!). Then next week we'll head to madison for 2 overnights to move dd out of her current apartment, then a week after that we will move her into her new place. Then on the 27th dd and I will go to Savannah for the wedding (speaking of which, I'd better get plane tickets). All the out of towns make eating really tough.

I was tidying up some this morning, then couldn't stay late at home at all because our secretary missed the first train. I am having a cleaning crew coming today. I am waiting for them to call to tell me exactly when they will be there. So no time to post.
Karen, you are doing so great with your eating, I only wish I had it in me to do it, and maybe if I was just cooking for myself, I could, but it just is not working out that way right now with the 2 of us. I have also found that the fruit has been very good this summer. Not only watermelon, but also blueberries.
Marsha, I had to google to see if I missed anything about what EAA was, I see it is just something in Wisconsin. I always found the name of that town funny, Oshkosh. I didn't realize the wedding wasn't for another month yet. I agree that travel makes things so hard on a weight plan too. I once heard someone say that crossing state lines doesn't give you a license to eat.
I played mah jongg with my friends last night, and I won a few games, so that is always fun. We started late, so didn't even play that many. One of these friends has a daughter with severe developmental issues. She is one of a twin, is 36, and lives in a group home. She is in the hospital now with pneumonia, so she did not play because she was at the hospital. We never want to ask too much, I always wonder what her life span is, whether it is normal, could she live like this into old age? I just can't imagine, and we have a cousin who has a child who is in his 20's, and is the same. They have no language, still have to wear diapers, can eat and walk, that's about it.

Just finished the laundry AGAIN. I'll never understand how two people always have so much laundry. I walked between loads. It was in the 60's and nice temp wise. Our air quality though is so terrible from those wildfires. It's really hazy out and they have have warnings out for children, elderly and people with heart, lung or breathing issues to stay indoors through tomorrow. I doubt very much DH will want to walk in those conditions when he gets home.
Karen, today I can say "only" 79ΒΊ predicted!
I'm almost finished with The Nature Of Fragile Things that I can't recommend highly enough. Really good book that I hate to see end.

I don't have any idea what diet the woman from church is on. Someone she "recruited" posted on Facebook he had lost 20 pounds already. Someone asked him what he was doing and he referred her to that woman from church. It sounds like a cult, won't say the name unless you are a member. It seems like everyone who loses with Adkins, Keto or whatever gains it back as soon as they stop that particular plan. I know that is what happened to the woman I worked with.
The state residential hospital where DS and DDIL work has some patients who are well into their 50s with severe developmental issues. It is very sad because they can't do anything but like Robin said, eat & sleep. I don't know if they have to be entertained like babies. I think they may be more susceptible to illness.
I had trouble going to sleep last night and then woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm feeling it now and will go lay down for a little while.
