This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph, with the following 2021 Goals:
Carole: 1.) Journal Daily, thoughts, feelings, ideas 2.) Track daily, Good, Bad, Ugly, HONESTLY 3.) Move every day, 10-30 minutes, as able 4.) Limit/Reduce Alcohol, All of it! 5.) Be thankful for something - every day
Gabrielle 1. Wellness--take steps each day to address better wellness (moving, attention to my eating, getting sleep, etc.) 2. Debt-- continue to take steps to eliminate debt (including the kids college debt that we are covering) so that I have no debt when I retire 3. Connectedness-- each month have a plan to stay connected to those who I care about (maybe dinner once/month after COVID, Zoom, phone calls, etc. 4. Creativity -- seek out projects that keep me using the creative side of my brain (knitting, paint parties?, etc.) 5. Journaling/Self-Awareness--find a way to journal my thoughts and to think through challenges and opportunities
Sue: 1. Get moving - plan to utilize my Cubii 3-5 times per week at least 2. Moderation - limiting junk, snacks, wine and all things I know that sabotage my success 3. Daily Gratitude - continue our November daily gratitude. 4. Start a journal - my "Life & Apples" journal will arrive later in the week. 5. Be more "present" - in life, in my journey, with family & friends, in all aspects of my world
Jenny: 1) I'm moving to a clean eating plan like more veggie dishes and less red meat 2) I pulled out my Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser's " Yoga for weight loss DVD" and do that in the evening since it's pouring down rain here. 3) Cut way back on the wine at nights, they sell those tiny little bottles that have 5oz in them and limit myself to only 1-2 per day, that can work right? 4) Track everything even if I'm in the negatives and hold myself accountable
Christine: 1. Cardio exercise daily (walk, stationary bike) 2. FOLLOW Keto Plan using Honesty. 3. Daily gratitude - Say something NICE each morning
Karen: 1. Take one step at a time and be kind to myself 2. Move by getting my kayak on the water at least one day per week... it will be more as the weather warms. 3. Stick to my intermittent fasting schedule. 4. Try to sleep reasonably
Shelly: 1. Be more organized at work. Never leave with stuff on my desk 2. Be there for people when they need someone to lean on 3. Stick with WW plan!!! No matter what!!!! 4. Be a better influence on those around me.

Quick hi from work...Gloria is finishing the sorting of the inventory that needs to be entered so I'm just doing busy work until she is done in a few minutes so thought I'd get on and say good morning. Have a busy day today....work, shop, make Asian Salad for tonight, 90th birthday Party Open House for Jason's cousin, then finally the Y Gang cookout!! Will then come home, fall into bed and hopefully sleep well and late tomorrow!
Have a great day all...might have a chance to pop in a little later before we head out to our gatherings!!

Good Morning -
Sue - thanks for starting us today - I knew you were crazy busy with OT most days but I couldn't remember which days you were going in - how's the schedule looking for next week? Will you still need to head in extra early most mornings? Hopefully you have some time in the evenings to wind down. Are Hannah and Shea still on the East coast or did they drive back to NE? What a great trip they had and I bet it will be full of good memories. How is Sarah doing with her new job? Where do the Boys stay while she's at work? I know, I should probably just CALL you to get caught up LOL
Gabrielle - I saw on FB the post for the Ranch's Fruit Stand - I wish I lived in your vicinity as everything sounds so good! How many varieties of peaches does DH grow? Any word on the smoke and wine grapes? I remember my Uncle Jerry who is HUGE into the wine making as a hobby (his son actually works at our late June's winery! small world, right?) anyways - Uncle Jerry was always warning us to avoid certain CA wines from certain years due to bad smoke year. LOL I can never keep track - but I do know out there it's a huge deal and not a laughing matter - Are you going for a long run today? How's the Achilles heel?

Almost lost my above post - so cut off half and just hit 'send' lol
Jenny - I was trying to say (before I hit the wrong key and lost my message) that Blasting at the plant sounds so neat and WOW what a strange event to have to call the neighbors for - but I guess they would be used to hearing from you once in a while. Yep, we had Tornadoes touch down - south of our county but it was on the National news yesterday due to the amount of damage at a Dairy Farm and one of their Dealerships. Terrible damage. How's Audrey doing with her summer job? I hope it's working out for her - any time for a nice walk this weekend? I'm planning on heading out this morning - temps here are still cooler than usual since that storm which actually makes it perfect for being outside and walking.
Carole - how are you doing since returning from the Casino/Resort? The pictures on FB were great - but I do have a question: What was the inside joke for the large Truck? LOL I even mentioned it to my DD that I couldn't understand why you posted pictures of a large semi-truck from your Casino trip - do tell! lol Do you have either one of the Girls today? Hope this is a good Pool weekend for you and those awful storms have passed over you too -
Lisa - I liked Gabrielle' comment to you about never regretting your visit to the gym LOL I'll keep that in mind here too! I'm glad you have some consistent days for PT Work and I hope things at the college are returning somewhat to normalcy - but then there's this Delta Variant of COVID we are hearing about - how is that impacting your area?
I checked my FitBit for Sleep this morning - most days my sleep score is Fair, in the high 60s or low 70s. Today it was 88! WOW! that's a crazy improvement that I hope continues. I have noticed I'm not reaching for the Tums this past week - I was constantly getting heartburn after most meals or even drinking sparkling water! So that is a great improvement. I need to PLAN some meals and hit the grocery store either today or tomorrow. One of the recommendations I read on Keto is PLANNING your Meals days in advance - that way it's much easier to grab and go. I know some of you here do just that and I hope to follow in your footsteps.

Good morning!
So it is 4:00 am on a Saturday and I am up getting ready to head out for our long run and, of course, sports are on the TV out in the living room! I have to say, I love the Olympics, but I can use a break from 24 hour sports (the Tour de France was recorded and that made it our last 24 hour access sport). It won't be quite as hot today---it was 102 yesterday. We all are looking forward to a break. I had a good day off in terms of getting things done--got to pick up a couple of things for my great nephew--turning one the weekend of August 14th (I am travelling down to stay at my sister's in So. CA and we will go to his bday party). There is a Lakeshore Learning store that I wanted to go to so that I could get him a couple of more educational kinds of things...I am sure that the little guy has tons of toys already. I really am looking forward to that road trip--I will be travelling alone and I will enjoy the time. Anyway, I did pick up a couple of things I needed (some hair conditioner I like, etc.), then took DH lunch, then met DS27 for a light, late lunch. Came home for a light dinner --- just a good day. I only had to handle a couple of email things -- about 30 min of work-work so it was nice! Looking forward to the next two days off as well.
Sue: Thanks for starting us! I didn't realize that you were working today, but I think that you haven't had much time to post so we wouldn't know. Yes, hope that you can sleep in tomorrow! Wow, so much overtime for you! Hope that it doesn't wear you out.
Christine: Did you do anything special for Gary's bday? Such a nice photo of all of you on FB! I remember you having a relative interested/well-versed in wines but didn't realize about the connection to June's winery---wow, yes, small world! Yes, the smoke is a real problem and we have crop insurance now only for that purpose since summer/fall smoke has become (sadly) a regular thing in CA. If it hangs around too long and at the right time in terms of the grapes ripening, it ruins them with smoke taint. Our buyers actually have the grapes tested for smoke taint before we even pick them. So, fingers crossed we get them picked before any lingering smoke (better yet---NO smoke!). It is a source of significant stress for my DH...sad too. So glad that you are sleeping well and that the indigestion has settled down! Wow, so happy for you that this is going well (if you don't have too much of that "keto flu"). Is there a way to know when you are in ketosis? Hope that you can get that walk in while it is cool--sounds so nice!

Jenny: Well, it sounds like the fellow you were training will be nice to have around (although it might be when you are gone, huh?). I remember you talking about the blasting before (and I even described it to DH based on your description). Yes, it does sound exciting! I remember you said that they do something to scare away the birds before blasting, right? Hope that it all went well...we have a quarry not far from here, but I don't think that they blast often. I am so glad that you are being spared from the smoke. Did it rain on the fire areas? Of course, now they will have to worry about mud slides this winter....uggh. Hey, when does Audrey move into her dorm? So exciting!
Carole: I hope that work went okay (from home, right?) yesterday. Looking forward to hearing about your trip. I don't recall if you had family celebrations this weekend....maybe a break until your bday in October? On the Real Housewives of NY (my guilty pleasure to watch while running on the TM), they went to Salem, MA. I remember being there...fun times. Hope that you have some downtime this weekend and maybe a little redhead at your house right now?
Hello Lisa--hope that you have a nice weekend planned!
Okay, time to sign off and get ready to go. I am meeting DS21 after running for a cup of coffee and I want to buy him some pants---I have been telling him that for months and today is finally the day. Have a good day ladies. Who knows? Maybe I will pop in later.

Afternoon all....got home about 12:30 after a long morning of work and trip to Walmart. I had to go to "Jason's Walmart" and I hate that store but that's where I needed to pick up my shoes for an upcoming paint night! They only had them at this Walmart and not mine that is closer to work and a MUCH better store! Anyway, they had NO skim milk, no avocadoes, no red onions...3 things on my list so needless to say, Jason will stop at Weis on his way home from the lot for milk but there will be no guacamole to bring this afternoon...only the Asian Salad. No biggie, except it a group favorite...we always have more than enough food to go around.
I've got the slaw dressing cooked and now it's cooling, it's like a brine, no mayo or anything that will spoil sitting out in warmer weather. That's why it's one of my "go to" dishes to share for picnics!! I've toasted the Ramen noodle pieces, almonds and sesame seeds and they are cooling too so now have a few minutes to look back a couple days and catch up a little...with all the OT this week and Hannah's gang here on Wednesday I have been way out of the loop but hopefully If I head back a couple days I can figure things out!
Went back to Monday....
Carole...had to laugh that Tracy picked up a shift but you are probably right, she did it before she new she would have the added hours. I'm hoping it means OT for her and not just more hours for the same pay! No...DM is in a place that she will always remain in her own apartment but can stay there even if she is total care BUT for each thing she needs, she has to pay more. It's not like the Brethren Home, where Pat is moving this month....she will start in a cottage that is total independent but no lawn care, no snow removal etc...if she needs more help she can then move to Assisted Living, then to Intermediate Care, then to Skilled Care....it's the nice part about a community like the Brethren Home...guaranteed care as you need it but NOT more money except the usual annual cost increase of all things. Where my DM lives there is no guarantee...she is basically renting an apartment in the building and pays to go to the dining room, pays for someone to help her shower twice a week, pays to have someone clean her apartment, pays for laundry...pays for everything! It is NOT a place I would have chosen for her EVER!!
Any way...DM got discharged from the hospital on Wednesday or Thursday of this week to a skilled nursing facility...the last update was interesting...
Ma is doing better – WBC down to 14.6, Oxygen down to 2L.
However, her heart is still weak and she doesn’t have much strength. She asked me to “tell her everything, and be honest.” So I told her that rehab was up to her – she will either get strong enough to go home to The Waterford, or she won’t. I told her the goal is being able to get out of bed by herself, get to the bathroom by herself, do everything needed to be done there by herself and get back in bed completely by herself.
She’s not close to being able to do that – particularly because of the pain in her back from the last fall, and a renewed fear of falling. She still needs someone to help her do any major adjustments in the bed.
This rehab facility has Medicaid skilled nursing home beds. She would probably qualify for Medicaid, so there’s the possibility of it becoming permanent, but we really want her to get back to her apartment.
Not sure how DM feels but I emailed back and told them flat out...she is NOT safe to be at the Waterford...this is the 3rd time she has been in the hospital for the same reasons in 2021....it's only July!! As I said and you can see by the last line...Jim and Annie want her back to her apartment and I pray DM says no, she wants the security of the help!!
Christine...So had you had a great walk with Cindy last weekend and no knee or foot pain...WIN for you!! Do you know the new administrator that you will have as a contact now?? Sorry the rains ruined the fundraiser...hopefully it didn't end up decreasing the contributions. Glad you enjoyed the day but I agree, at this point with the COVID cases going up thanks to the unvaccinated and the Delta variant, the added outdoor seating options is a good thing! So excited for Ben and his new job...won't be long until they settled into a nice groove...so happy for both of them! LOL, will admit Jason is not a fan of throw pillows either but I have them too!! Ben will soon realize it is a "non-issue" and he just needs to toss them to the other end of the couch when he wants to sit...just like Jason does!
Carole/Christine...while you are all getting rain, we could still use some...we are not in severe drought but definitely well below the water table!!
Honestly Christine...with all the baking there was an awesome breeze coming in the windows and I had all the fans moving the air so it was not too bad with the oven on for hours and hours....I was surprised. According to Jason it was a nice breeze but really HUMID so he was happy to come in the house where it didn't see quite as bad! LOL! OMG, the Olympics are on here all day long when we are here...I agree, it's fun to have some local Olympians...Hali Flickinger has 2 bronze medals now I think...I know the 1st was bronze and I think her 2nd was too...there is a volleyball player from Chambersburg, which is about 45minutes to an hour from here that is still in the medal hunt! As you know by now, Hannah's gang was here on Wednesday for dinner. Pat was supposed to be here too but she threw her back out packing for the move in August....thankfully we could FaceTime with her for a while so she and Hannah could chat and the boys were actually pretty talkative too so it was fun for her!

Jenny...glad DH came for a walk with you...I know this is your journey but in light of his recent health issues, the walk will do him good too!! I still chuckle when I see Audrey in the hammock swing...the news feed on FB pops up random things and I guess if someone comments on the picture, it shows up in my feed again...I'm thinking that you hung it but she's hogging it...not fair! LOL!! I'm thinking you might be right...Holly might not realize you usually do 4 10 hour days and not a usual 5 day week! Hopefully you get back to your 4 day weeks! Did WWOW say why she isn't retiring?? I know Carole and I can't wait to retire...when I hit 65...I'm out....Medicare is all I need....we have been hopefully investing well over the years so while retired from FT work I can get a PT job as a lunch lady at a school for some extra and then collect SS at 67 at full retirement while having some extra fun money during the school year!
Gabrielle...yes, the boys all love music, musicals and I think live theater lets them know what those see on the movies, like in "Greatest Showman" start doing until they "get a break"....when you look at the backgrounds of many people in any movies that are musicals, they started in local theaters like Dutch Apple...makes me happy when they hug me at the end of the night and say...."thanks Grandma for bringing us here"!! I hope they never lose their love of music and appreciation for live theater!!
Well...still have a few "glitches" and accesses that need to be resolved on my computer but NO crashing or stalling...that is plus as I was rebooting several times a day before vacation!!
YAY Jenny...glad you have your appointment!! Thanks for letting us know!
Just glanced at the clock...need to hit the shower and finish up the Asian Salad...catching up will have to wait until tomorrow!
