People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

I keep forgetting to say that after the diarrhea yesterday morning Bridgette is fine. I think it was still stress from boarding and then us being gone 7 hours at the ER as except for during the night they have never not been out for that long a period.
I think the prescription for Fred will be ready for pick up this morning so we’ll see if the cost to us is what they said it will be and if he authorized a 30 or 90 day supply. He agreed with me yesterday that 30 days is probably the best as if he does get a bleed it would be stopped and it would be bad to waste a lot of medication. But I think Fred is calmer about everything. I’m trying to be but it’s hard. One thing this episode has made us realize is we really need to meet with our funeral home and get our final arrangements made as it looks like once again Cindy is putting off paying us the $20,000 and we had been waiting for that to get it done but we can pay for it without that as Fred did say no more trips while on the eliquis as he would hate to be out of town and get a bleed. Plus every time we try to talk to Debbie about what we want she won’t discuss it as she says we’re being morbid. Guess she thinks we’ll live forever! So we’re just going to get it done and not be thinking about it anymore.
Our weather has really cooled off and it’s so good to have the windows open.

Good morning. It looks like rain here this morning. I was going to put a finishing coat on the mailbox but I’ll wait. I have to get a couple Rx this morning too. I have to go to another town for our pharmacy though. We were by there yesterday and forgot to stop. If I don’t make a list I forget.

Good morning. I went to the pool but only did the hanging because some one was giving swimming lessons to two kids in the inside pool which is where I walk. The inside pool has the two side bars for the steps so I enter and exit there. If I use the outside steps I have to pull myself up with a bar on only one side and that is hard for me. Also if I don’t go before the waterfall is turned on I don’t like going thru it to get to those steps I think it is turned on about 10:30. So my time is limited . Obviously those kids don’t live here and never saw that woman teaching them so hope this is not going to continue Although the kids were well behaved I wondered what was happening. I won’t complain to the HOA but I hope this will not continue because I don’t think that woman lives here and this is a 55 and over and those were not her grandchildren, makes me feel a bit like a grouch but this clubhouse costs all of the owners a lot of money . I was the only person needing that part of the pool so not a big deal except to wonder if the woman lives here and will this be every week.
Today I have a lot to do so hope I stay on track

Good morning.
Sharon, it's overcast here too and looks a lot like rain.
Sandy, I take Xarelto for my blood thinner and it's quite pricey. With my insurance I pay a copay of $35/month until July and then it goes up to $120 because I hit the donut hole. It could be worse and I could be paying full price which is around $370/month. I hope Fred's med will be cheaper.
Jane, maybe that lady/kids are just visiting someone there. If they keep coming back I think I'd inquire about them with whoever is in charge of the pool.
Denise and Maya are coming over soon for lunch and a visit. I'll let them know that my sweet little kitty Molly probably won't be with us much longer.
I hope you all have a good day.

Bill's on Eliquis too. His copay for home mail delivery is $29 for a 30 to 90 day supply. At the pharmacy it would be $35 for just 30 day supply.
It's a beautiful day here. Sunny low 70's and a easy breeze.

Good Morning!
It did not look like rain this morning but when I got home from yoga it started pouring with the sun shining. It stopped raining so I think I will go ahead and get my swimsuit on and just read by the pool. It is going to be another hot and humid day.
Sandy, It is hard for kids to have that conversation with their parents. My kids know that I prefer to be cremated but whatever they decide and will give them the most peace is fine by me, and they know that. Because my parents died so young is why I thought of it at an earlier age. You may want to tell Debbie that we all are going to die, every last one of us. Maybe choosing a time when she is not stressed or upset.
Sharon, It is hard to remember everything when you don't live close to everything. When I lived in Ohio everything was 1 minute away. When I moved to Florida everything was 40 minutes away. As our area grows most everything is about now 20 minutes away.
Jane, I don't blame you for being annoyed by those children in the pool when it upsets your routine. Is there a part of the pool that the kids could go without being in your way? If not, perhaps you could talk to the woman about how long you would be, because you don't want to complain but you still need to get your workout in. Just a thought. I understand if you don't want to go there.

Good morning, friends. It's 87 degrees here and partly sunny. Another day when the low will be 80. I will go to the gym for resistance and weights and, if It is not too crowded, will walk in the pool. Or I may do a recumbent bicycle for my aerobic activity. Walking would not be comfortable.
I am pushing myself to go today. Had a hard time getting to bed last night as I was thinking about DD and how hard it is to leave the home in which the kids were raised. Both of the kids were very tearful last night after saying their goodbyes and they have a long drive ahead. But I feel so much better being more active so push I will. Talking about saying goodbyes, DGS's has been a good buddy with one guy since nursery school. They liked each other so much that they decided they should share the same name, "Logan." In a farewell note, Peter wrote, "Logans forever!" So cute.
Oh, Sandy, your travails with Fred puts a new perspective on everything. You are a great team and you always look out for each other. Thinking of you both.
Good for you for getting to the pool, Jane. I hope you have better luck with completing your routine next time.
Have fun with Denise and Maya, Vicki. Letting our furry friends go is so wrenching.
Time to get a move on. Happy Saturday, all.

Checking in. Cool morning with a wonderful rain this early morning. First attempt with sugar free Angel food cake is total failure. Will try again if that fails she will get 2 box cakes.
Steven and I are not attending the Birthday party. First of all we were not invited but we are not offended as I am sure there will be drinking and that is not comfortable for me. It's Brenda's day so let them have their fun. Son and his SO will attend.
I may be off to town for another box mix soon, wish me luck on my 2nd attempt. Might have been the eggs and I used all purpose flour instead to cake flour. Trying to remedy that. Gotta go

Greetings:
Still on the brain. Many of us play games and do things to keep our brains going strong. So I've been looking at sites trying to find some that have science behind them.
QOTD I found one that has a paid subscription and a free section. It takes about 5 minutes to do the daily free game. There is a tutorial and feedback about what you do. If you are interested i suggest giving it a try.

Vicki, How was lunch with Denise and Maya? Sorry to hear that Molly does not seem to be getting better. Our pets are our family and it is always heart wrenching to see them failing.

Ruth there was a day not long ago I’d taken the 5k challenge, but I’m just getting back into it. I walked to a friends house and back, about 4 blocks. Don suggested I go out our back yard and over to the high school track to walk so I will do that. I see lots of walkers there.
Karen C thanks for the site. It does cost so I’ll stick with my daily sudoku and differences game. Some days the hard sudoku is a breeze and some days not.
Laundry is done and patches sewed on DGD’s uniform.
Gail have the kids arrived yet? Safe travels wished for them. I still have no art on the wall yet either butI did hang one in the dining area this afternoon.
What’s for supper? I can’t think of anything to fix. Lunch was sautéed zucchini, butter and garlic noodles and sliced tomatoes.

Ruth, lunch was good. Denise was making a stop by Beasley orchard before they came over so she asked me if I needed anything. I had her pick up 1/2 dozen ears of sweet corn so we could have some for lunch. It had been picked fresh this morning and tasted fantastic. Jerry grilled hamburgers and we also had a fresh cucumber onion salad that I had made yesterday.
Molly still isn't eating or drinking but she did come out from our bedroom closet where she's been spending the majority of time. She's very social and she loves D & M so I think she just wanted to be with us all. She's been sleeping on the sofa in the family room for the past few hours. The only outstanding test results we're waiting on is the urinalysis. It won't be back until Monday. The vet said it's possible she has a UTI although not to get our hopes up. She hasn't drank anything for 2 days so I have my doubts if she'll even be here on Monday. Thanks for asking about her. We've had her for the past 10 yrs and she's going to leave a big hole in our hearts when she goes.
