I'm IN. diva49, safe travels to you and your family. I'll be heading to the mall later to walk in the A/C. It's just too hot/muggy to enjoy it outside. I'll be watching Olympics coverage later today. We had a brief rain last night so I don't need to water the yard this weekend. We need more rain but the yard is in pretty good shape for now. Have a nice weekend, y'all.

Morning all! How fun diva49 are you guys doing a college scouting road trip with DGS? My dad did that with TJ β€οΈ love that he has that special memory. So, I was yesterday years old when I learned about "chimney swifts". What a beautiful bird right? And a federally protected bird π₯° I love that. Here comes the part where I have learned all about them. Long story grab some coffee. I dropped Luigi off at the vet, went to grab some things for my mom at the store dropped those off, and about an hour later she texts me that she's hearing a noise but can't figure out where it is coming from. So I head back over there, she's narrowed it down to the fireplace area. I bang on the fireplace screen and OMG eeekkkkk (insert visual of me running to other side of room). Then we start with the hey Google what noise does a bat.. squirrel..bird etc etc make (you get the idea). Next up I go outside and see the fireplace 'cap' on their roof (it's a brick arch thingy so it has like a cage screen over the top of the where the smoke comes out). Which leads me to think whatever is in there has the strength to have ripped this off *faints right then and there*. But these are my 80something year old parents so I suck it up and grab the hose and try to spray it with the pressure nozzle to go down the chimney but we couldn't get close enough. Next we think to blast so AC/DC music ('all night long' in case you wondered what we went with), no luck there either. Now you guys know me and I don't give up easily, but, with my dad immobile and sitting there in a chair in the same room, I started calling wildlife removal experts and the first one that answered got the job. I told him if he came right away we would pay a bazillion dollars (yes I actually said that and I might have promised him my first born too, sorry Eric! π€£ππ€£) By this point I have to go back to pick up Luigi from the vet so I missed all the fun stuff but my mom is texting TJ with the updates. (I duct taped cardboard over the screen it was very secured, I didn't just leave them hanging.) It appears a raccoon ripped off the cap and the Chimney Swifts are migratory birds (here's where the federally protected part comes in to play) and along the way to their destination they find chimneys to nest in. HUNDREDS.OF.THEM. So my folks chimney is now a nursery (they can't touch it until the babies hatch and everyone moves on) and soon they will be proud godparents to hundreds of baby chimney swifts. On Tuesday, I am taking my mom to Costco for hearing aids (I was like seriously how did you not hear this?!?) *packs bags and heads back to CA* π€£π I am IN!! Have a great day friends! βοΈβοΈβοΈ

DebDoesWW , you tell the BEST stories! Yes, chimney swifts are birds that appears in Texas in the summer. Hopefully, they will move on in September and then you can get the chimney covered. Good luck!

I'm in.
It's a beautiful day here - sunny with a breeze and lower humidity. I have a really long list of inside chores but, no desire to be in when it's so nice. Um, I think I'll be putting most of them off until tomorrow. lol
DebDoesWW , that's just wild! Hope Luigi is doing okay
Enjoy the day!
Have a safe trip and a good time MJ.

I'm in. DebDoesWW , Eenjoyed the way you told your story today about he bird in your parents chimney, priceless!π Years ago when our kids were young, our boys run the movie projector at our local show and would come home late, two different nights we ended up with a bat in the house, I'm scared to death of them because I didn't want them getting tangled up in my long hair. Someone suggested we leave a light on where the boys came in the house which worked, no more bats. They must have been riding in on our sons clothes in the dark house entry way. We had a heck of a time getting those bats out of the house! We had a swallow come down our fireplace chimney, it was banging around in our living room and DH caught it in a large fishing net and let it out the front door. We had a screen put on our chimney with no more problems. My neighbor had the same thing as your parents a nest of baby raccoons in her fireplace chimney, she also heard the noises, when they left DH put a screen on the chimney! We also had a chipmunk crawl down our dryer vent and got caught in the pipe, we had to have someone come and get it out. We put a screen on it also. Crazy stuff!π€ Eenjoy your day!

I'll catch up when I can, new computer and I can't get it to boot to my SSD with my old info on it. Apparently Dell has done some changes to the BIOS and it "seeing" my drives other than in windows itself, not for boot purposes.
