8/11 33💚/23W cathygeha 🤗 glad you had a bit of electricity! I was wondering how you handled the food situation with limited electricity. So things that need refrigeration are just out of the question ? Milk, butter, cheese, etc.? I know you have limited access right now but when things improve I'd love to hear all about life there. ❤️

❤️ We have had enough electricity to keep the fridge and freezer fairly cool so have not worried too much about it. BUT have heard recently that the local village generator, unless they can buy more diesel fuel, will not be able to provide electricity within a day or two. And, the government discussions won't be happening for another week...again.
There have been an increase in food poisoning cases, restaurants are not working as much, hospitals are lacking medicines and diesel for their generators... Roads were closed today and people were protesting. A friend drove to Tripoli for groceries and tried four different routes home before going over a mountain and coming in the back way to her village.
I have pretty much become vegan so will make a pot of beans and had been freezing them but now may only make enough for the day. I have done some jam making and such but that is not very points-friendly. We have stored grains and dry legumes and have some tinned goods but need to restock those.
In the past (like in 1984 and before) when electricity was iffy, we would freeze an ice cream carton filled with water and sometimes two cartons when the electricity was on then move it to the refrigerator to keep what food was in there cool till the electricity returned then repeat. In the past we also had a UPS with two huge batteries that would run enough electricity during cuts to keep the refridgerator going and run some fans, the computer, a few light bulbs.
I hope they solve the situation BUT if not...we will adapt/adjust/keep plugging along.
I don't want to have any animal products with refrigeration as it is. My husband said he wouldn't eat an animal unless he saw is slaughtered before him (I couldn't eat one after that!). Anyway, we have been eating yogurt, long-life milk, eggs and refrigerating the produce BUT I probably won't replace the dairy products and cheese once what wee have is gone. We will buy for a few days and fresh and not use the fridge if there is no electricity at all.
The people are in lines that are longer than a mile waiting to get gasoline for their cars and propane for the stoves, some people are dying because they can't get their medicines. It is a mess...
We are better off than many and I am thankful I am not in the city!

Today I had fierce leg pain down the front but like sciatica...not sure why...that and the situation here had me eating "healthy" food but using a LOT of weekly points. I have a feeling the scale might be up in the morning.
35/21 dailies used 13 weeklies remaining to use between now and next Monday
Old Core Plan

Did a side by side tally:
CORE: 25/21 with only 9 weekly points left for the weekend PURPLE: I have only used 11/16 points so far that were not zero points

NO IDEA what the points were today. Finished off the cheese and milk in case electricity cuts are longer and have cleared the refrigerator as much as possible of all things that might mold. I reset the app for PURPLE instead of CORE and will begin tomorrow rather than toughing out this week on Core.
So...scale was 162.2 again this morning and won't be surprised if it is that or higher tomorrow.
