Hello Everyone Thanks everyone for your kind works on my pieces, I appreciate it Phyl - I hope the new food plan will help you feel better. I'm happy to hear you are working on some crafting projects. Ruth - I'm glad your DH's license renewal went well and that you were able to get some groceries while you were out. Ginny - I'd love to see some of the fair pictures It was hot here today and we had a thunderstorm late this afternoon. I finished hand stitching the binding on the Redwork piece and I'll show a picture of it soon. I just have 2 small hand quilted pieces to finish the hand stitch binding on. I think I'll take a break from big projects for a bit. I have Pat Sloan's new block to make and the monthly Mini Sewing Bee blocks came out on Monday - they are a bit challenging this time, with such small pieces. And I have my aqua scraps to sort through for the Rainbow scrap challenge. Hope everyone has a good evening

I will try to get some of those fair pics transferred over here…..guess there is no harm in doing so as it was a public event.
CJ- congrats on completing the redwork piece. It sounds so pretty!!! Yes, sometimes its a good idea to take a break from larger projects. That is where I am now, and am waiting for some charm packs to arrive to start on the prairie point ornaments
Hot here…..got an appointment and some errands to run tomorrow in the heat.

Ruth, well I hope that you got all your business done at DMV or port entry or whatever they call themselves now!! Cannot imagine wanting to make another trip there.
Phyl, hope that the cancellation works out for you…always nice to get an appointment over with sooner instead of having to wait for a long time. Congrats on a successful trip to Joanns!!! Did you buy the fabrics for a specific project?

They are pretty quilts but I truly like yours and CJ's better.
I did organize my "hoarding room". Actually I don't know what this little space is supposed to be. I would guess maybe it was intended to be a little reading area. It is quite small and has a floor to ceiling window that looks out on the open space and mountain beyond that space. We have two large shelving units in there and keep our extra supplies there so it's more like a pantry. It's not even on the same level as the kitchen so definitely wasn't intended to be a pantry.I also have two little chests of drawers in there where I keep clothing like socks, undies, etc.
CJ, I did see on the news that it may get to 100 in your area and you also have high humidity so it's sure not going to be a good time to be outdoors. I would guess it will be much the same where you are, Ginny.
See you all tomorrow

Ruth - well bless you for organizing the “hoarding” room. With that floor to ceiling window, I might be tempted to put a small chair in there for reading or even a small station for crafting. For a few years I had my sewing area with a bit of a view of the back yard….and I did enjoy that. You are so very kind- and yes CJ makes some lovely quilts and quilts that could be on display at a fair. Not sure why I was only able to post links last night and not pictures…. And I wish I had more time in there to really look at the lovely quilts on display. I tend to be a traditionalist, but enjoy looking at some of the more artistic quilts, or those with themes that break the mold. I once saw a quilt that had toddler dress in each block. (At least the front of an adorable little girls dress was part of the block). Again so pretty and a nice idea.
Yes, today is what the weather said the other day- our worst day. I just got back from my walk, it was in the mid 70’s but you could feel the angry heat starting to build. Glad I am inside. Unfortunately I have an appointment today and have to go out for a few hours. I do have to stop in HL to pick up my fabric (which I ordered and got on sale). That might be my crafting for the day. This heat does wipe me out and tire me, even if I am inside and in air conditioning.
Stay cool and have a great day Ginny

I did see that one of the quilts in that last link had clothing on it. It was interesting. I also missed the Christmas tree one to the left on that link. That one was great too.
Not much going on here yet. Fell asleep early (for me) so got up earlier than normal also. I've just been sitting and trying to get the sides of this blanket done. I think I'm almost finish with sides...hopefully four rows to go. Then will be the top and bottom and finally the border but also DREADED ENDS TO WEAVE IN. I'm glad I did the first batch of ends after I finished the center but the sides have probably triple the number of ends. I'll probably do those before doing the top and bottom of the blanket.
I think tomorrow dh wants to go do another pickup from Walmart because there's something there he wants to add to our stash of food for winter and in case this delta variant is as bad as they're saying on the main stream media and things close down again. He also wants to get pizza. It's his birthday tomorrow and that's what he wants to eat. He's been having some gi problems though so he may decide against pizza. We'll see. He's napping now which is why I'm using the time to crochet. Don't want to work up here where it will disturn his sleep.
I hope the hot weather is not too bad where all of you are but I'm afraid, from what I hear that it is. Stay hydrated everyone

It’s still hot here, but there are two days in the 60s headed this way. I can hardly wait!
This morning I pulled out the directions for a crocheted lap quilt. I need to find my crochet hooks or I would have started! That’s my crafting for today!

Hey Sue, good to hear from you!! As far as I am concerned, pulling out directions for a lap quilt and realizing that you need crochet hooks sure counts as crafting. Hope you were able to find your hook and the yarn you were going to use for this afghan!!! Tomorrow is another day….how are you doing?
Ruth, happy birthday to Dh! Wonder if he will decide for or against pizza for dinner…..pizza is a favorite food of mine, so I would get that. Hope you are able to stock up on what it is that you want to should things get strange again and certain items become scarce or hard to come by. How sad that we have to think that way. Glad to hear that you are almost done with the blanket- from our end it seemed to go quickly but you are the person who spent a long time figuring out the pattern and which yarn to use. Are you pleased with how it is turning out?
Indeed it was super hot here today….I stopped at my friends house to drop off something I had picked up for her and spent some time with her and her Dh on the deck. I thought it was nuts and would have rather gone inside…but then I figure perhaps they wanted me outside because of covid. (They are unvaccinated). I had to leave as it was just too hot out- and I have difficulty breathing in the extreme heat. Believe me it was not comfortable. I got my errands done- picked up my beautiful fabric in HL, and stopped in Home Depot. They sell N95 masks there (made in the USA) so I bought a box of those. My errands went pretty well this am. Glad they are done with for now. This heat breaks on Saturday. Will be very thankful for that.

They didn't mention any 60 degree days here but one day next week will be only 78 so that's an improvement. I'd love to have year round temps in the 70's. I don't like extremes.
Sue, great to see you! Yes lap blankets are great things to have. I hope you found your hooks and yarn. I know you've mentioned buying yarn from Knitpicks. I never have but I hear they have really nice yarn.
Ginny, sorry you had to sit outdoors at your friend's house. They must like heat. I'm glad you were able to pick up your fabric. And it will be a good thing for us all to keep stocked up on masks. Maybe this whole thing will just go away but we never know. At least we'll be ready if we need them. How's your new cat doing? Is he getting along with Tea?
Yes I'm happy with the blanket. It's really pretty. I did have to improvise on colors. You know I ran out of the aqua. So I made some revisions and hopefully made it to look like that's how it was supposed to be. The top and bottom might take me a couple days although they definitely aren't as long as the side so it SHOULD go faster. And the border that will tie it all together will take awhile to go around the whole thing and it will depend on how many rounds I do. And THAT will depend on what the size is after I get the part done that the directions call for. (I haven't looked at that yet) Still with all the ends to weave in (there's no way to crochet over and hide them) it may take all weekend to have it completely done.
Dh has decided that he'd better not take a chance on eating pizza tomorrow so we'll do that Monday.

I've been meaning to ask how much gasoline is in everyone's area. Our's here is $3.69/gallon. I can't even remember the last time I bought gas. Since we rarely go anywhere and have three vehicles we never have low gas tanks We've been using our little car almost exclusively and it doesn't use much gas anyway. The tank keeps staying close to full. The other two are used so seldom they are both close to full.

Hello Everyone Sue - I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Ruth - I hope your DH has a nice birthday and gets to eat something he enjoys. I'm glad to hear you are happy with the blanket, I'm sure it's beautiful. Gasoline here is over $3.00 but not as high as it is there. I'm fortunate that I don't use much gas anymore either. Ginny - Thank you for posting the pictures of the quilts, they are beautiful. I love seeing what others are making. I hope your appointment went well today. Phyl - Hope you are feeling well. It's very hot here today and tomorrow is supposed to be too. I haven't even been outside and I think I'm just going to leave my mail in the box until tomorrow. It's all junk mail, but being on the busy road I try to get it out each day. I finished the hand stitched binding on the last few pieces, so now all the binding is done. I did enjoy the hand stitching, but I can't imagine doing a large quilt! Here's a picture of my Redwork piece: Take care everyone!
