We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Happy Earth Day...đ ( A couple days early ...but it's Earth Day today & tomorrow at ABLE where Jason works) ...and really shouldn't EVERYDAY be Earth Day.
Celebrate while you can! With all Fake Prez's Deregulations, may not be an Earth in near future! Just totally shameless this swamp filled administration is anti-everything that concerns climate, environment, natural resources that make this country beautiful.
Another cloudy gloomy day here this morning, but hoping for Sunshine this afternoon.
Jason & his friends/employees at ABLE celebrate Earth Day today, so I'm celebrating too......Recycling cans, sale prices on all the rugs, quilts & other items in their store that are made from recycled materials. The community supports them in a big way coming for coffee & treats that are served along with the sales. Just walking into ABLE being greeted by so many happy, friendly, smiling faces each day that we drop Jason off, makes one realize how some with so many limitations can still smile & enjoy their days no matter what. So, ENJOY your Earth Day however you choose to spend it. đ

Happy Earth Day everyone! Linda is right that we should be celebrating it every day. Wish I could box up some of my sunshine and send it to you today, if you are in short supply right now.
Got my surgery yesterday, so that's behind me and all is well. Leg is a little sore today, but nothing that should be complained about. Just trying to focus on good things right now. I have limited my daily news intake. Read online in the mornings, watch for about an hour each evening, and trying to not let it consume my thoughts.
Linda said, "Just walking into ABLE being greeted by so many happy, friendly, smiling faces each day that we drop Jason off, makes one realize how some with so many limitations can still smile & enjoy their days no matter what." That's a good lesson for us all. Actually, even though I've never actually met Jason I feel almost as if I "know" him, and I do think of him often, especially when I'm feeling a little down. I remember something Linda told us that Jason says everyone can choose to be happy or sad, and he chooses happy. That really resonated with me, so while I don't always succeed by any means I am trying to follow Jason's wise advice.
Day before yesterday I was really down emotionally, worrying about things with my parents which I can't control. I have a BAD habit of that, and I truly am trying to break it. I just seem to be one of those people whose middle name should have been Guilt. Guilt over things that are unfixable, and yet thinking I should some how fix them. Really, I recognize it is not a healthy mentality. But some days I just can't seem to avoid it. But yesterday morning forced myself up out of the "dumps" and made reservations for a trip to Florida. We won't go until the first part of June, as DH is having physical therapy and there are doctor appointments coming up for my parents, etc in May. Still it felt good to take a step forward, and plan for something.
On the political front, things are totally confusing. There seems to be no coherent message coming from the administration. Does one hand really not know what the other hand is doing? Mixed messages almost constantly. That's another thing I can't change.

Good for you Joyce, in dragging yourself out of the doom & gloom mood. My Mom always said when I was feeling this way, " Pick a corner & work your way out" ...usually meant like cleaning or yard work or a craft. And dang, it usually works...LOL...đ....Happy healing & Florida beaches & Sunshine sound wonderful.
Thanks for the kind words about Jason. đ

Also ordered myself a Fitbit from Amazon which was delivered yesterday, and am getting set up today. Hoping that will inspire me to move more. I spend far too much time sitting at the computer especially now that I don't have the 24/7 care of my parents anymore. That's another bad habit I am going to try and break. Off to go MOVE!

"Pesticide Maker Tries to Kill Health Risk Study." Why not? Killing is what they do for a living! A very profitable living at that. Yesterday I saw my neighbor bending down spraying the life out of a dandelion. Idiot. The guy already has a pace maker keeping him alive and there he is sucking in all that toxic spray into his lungs to rid his lawn of a wildflower. A beautiful little wildflower! Hello? You're already down there with a can of poison in your stupid hand, why not just pull it out if you hate it so much? Idiot! Don't get me started... Joyce, I'm glad to hear you're recovering and feeling better. I just want you to know as far as the guilt thing goes life would be easier if you just accept it. It's who we are. It's a woman thing. Don't fight it. Guilt is baked into women along with the urge to browse up and down the isles of super sized drug stores. It's in our genes. lol. Linda, I could see all those happy smiling faces you described. They made me smile too. Thank you!

Dandelion Tea is one of my favorite herbal teas. Very good for upset tummies too. Danelions alway bring back childhood playtime memories for me. We didn't have much growing up, but somehow dandelions always were included when we played outside.

This, honestly made me laugh because of the stupidity of Jeff Sessions to even say this out loud never mind thinking it. LOL
AG Jeff Sessions seems to forget that Hawaii is a state 04/20/17 04:05 PMâUPDATED 04/20/17 04:08 PM By Steve Benen About a month ago, Donald Trumpâs second attempt at a Muslim ban ran into the same legal troubles as his first attempt. U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson, a federal judge in Hawaii, blocked implementation of the administrationâs policy.
The fact that Attorney General Jeff Sessions disagreed with the judge is not surprising. Whatâs notable, however, is how Sessions disagreed. CNN reported this afternoon: Attorney General Jeff Sessions said this week he was amazed that a judge in Hawaii could block President Donald Trumpâs executive order halting immigration from several majority Muslim countries.
Sessions made the comments on âThe Mark Levin Showâ Wednesday evening. The Republican attorney general, after noting his optimism about future court proceedings, specifically told the far-right radio host, âI really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power.â
This is a pretty remarkable thing for the nationâs chief law-enforcement official to say out loud, in public, and on purpose.
First, whether Sessions fully appreciates this or not, Hawaii is a state. For the U.S. attorney general to downplay a judgeâs authority because heâs âsitting on an island in the Pacificâ is plainly bonkers.
Imagine if an attorney general in a Democratic administration were dismissive of a ruling because he or she didnât respect the state where the courtroom was located. Then imagine how severe the political backlash would be.
Second, even looking past Sessionsâ apparent animus towards Hawaii, his broader point was that heâs âamazedâ that a judge could issue an order like this. In other words, the sitting attorney general is outraged that a federal judge acted within his authority to do his job.
To be sure, this is a controversial issue, and if Sessions wants to make the case that Judge Watson made the wrong call, fine. Thereâs ample room for a spirited debate on the merits.
But at least in this interview, Sessions didnât make a substantive case for Trumpâs Muslim ban; he questioned the judgeâs geography and authority.

Hi all. In the spirit of Earth Day and the pesticide talk I thought I would share my homemade weed killer recipe.
1 gallon white vinegar 2 cups Epson salt 1/4 cup Dawn (or whatever dish liquid you use)
Spray it on in the morning and the weeds will be dead or dying by the end of the day. However, your yard will smell like pickles lol.

My DH uses a lot of Jerry Bakers natural lawn care & weed recipes. They work quite well.
