Hello Everyone Sue - It's good to hear from you. I hope your caregiver will be alright and can continue to help you. I'm happy to hear you had a nice rain and then pretty blue skies and nice air. I was fortunate that I had some coordinated fabrics from the same line (except for the yellow), that I could use to make this quilt. Ginny - Is the hurricane headed for you or will it miss you? I hope you'll be alright and won't have a lot of wind and rain from it. Ruth - Hope your DH enjoyed the carrot cake and that you enjoyed the baking. I'm glad your pickup went well. It's really wonderful that they have this now for those of us who can't, or don't want to, go in the stores. My mother would have loved this service since she had many health issues and couldn't go shopping. I did most of the grocery shopping when I was a teenager. I often think how many more conveniences we have now than when she was living - many could have made her life easier. Phyl - Hope you are enjoying some events this weekend and feeling well. It's muggy and a bit cloudy here today. I'm glad we'll miss the wind and rain from the hurricane since we had a lot of rain this week. I don't know how much since my weather station battery is dead again I thread basted two small quilt pieces this morning so that I can hand quilt them. I have 6 pieces thread basted now so I can work on them when I want to. One of them I'll try out the baptist fan quilt pattern. Another one is small doll quilt made with muslin and 30s fabrics. I want to finish hand quilting that old sampler piece first though. I'm working on block #3 of 6 right now. Then it's the sashing and borders to finish. Hope all of you get to do some crafting this weekend and that you have an enjoyable one. Take care!

Sue, I hope that the helper works out for you….perhaps when she is in second trimester she will be more dependable for help.
Ruth, sounds like you made out very well with your shop from home order!!!! I have had that happen also…with more expensive items substituted.
Had to run out today and pick up a few items from the store and secure some items outside. Sounds like I am in for a lot of wind and rain.
Will check back in later. g

Yes, Cj I will see some impact from this storm. Lots of rain and some wind. I am pretty far inland…coastal flooding is not a problem. Glad you were able to get some hand quilting done! G

Sue, I'm sorry to hear that your helper is having a difficult pregnancy and you probably help her more than she helps you.
Ginny, it's great that you don't have to worry about coastal flooding but high winds with rain can be very destructive also as I'm sure you know.
My dh bought me yarn. He saw online that Mandala was $4 so came and asked me if I wanted some so, of course, I said yes. Well then the price went down by almost $.44 so we wanted to know if I wanted more. Well I already have 8 of that yarn and color so told him thanks but no I don't really need it. But I had some things in my cart at Mary Maxim and was trying to decide if I wanted to get it or not and they sent me a coupon for free shipping so I had to not only get that which was already in my cart but added to it. They have 30% off and with the free shipping it's a great deal.
Now I need to get busy and use more up by finishing this blanket that I haven't worked on yet today although I did work on it last evening.
CJ and Phyl, I hope you both are having a good day

Strange day. hb was acting strange during the day and just plan bizarre tonight. I wonder if he’ll remember anything in the morning? Lots of confabulations. And I hadn’t finished the last sentence when he reappeared in the living room either his jeans in his hand. He was looking for the pins, and he said he always carted his jeans while he was waiting in line. He was thinking he was waiting for shots in the Navy, and he wasn’t sure where his bed was.
Tomorrow Is another day.!

CJ- yes that baptist fan quilting pattern is lovely….and I can imagine it looks great with your hand quilting. You do such a good job hand quilting!!! Nice that you have 6 pieces hand basted and ready to quilt… (the process of making the quilt sandwich is not my favorite part of the process). You are getting a lot done. Do you display any of your quilts? I just saw directions to make your own quilt ladder. A prolific quilter could really use one of those to show your handwork in your home and easily change what is on display on the ladder. Its sure tempting for me to want to make one, but I do not make nearly as many quilts as you do!!! Yes,these shop from home supermarket services are such a blessing….in her later years I put food orders in for my mom (who lived an hour from me) and she absolutely loved being able to have her groceries delivered. Have you started using that service yourself?? My oldest DD uses the shop from home/pick up at the store service…so nice with a large and busy family of young kids.
Ruth, gotta love your Dh- always looking out for a good bargain on yarn for you. Don’t you love Mary Maxim??? Sounds like you got an awesome deal on the goodies in your cart. Hope you were able to get a little bit more done on the afghan so you can move on to the next project.
Sue- that must be so frustrating for you!!! The confabulations are part of the process, but that has to be challenging for you not knowing what is coming next. Yes each day is a new experience…hope that today is good for you and Dh. How many days a week does your aid come in to help you?
Very thankful that Henri is veering further east. We are in for a day of wind and rain….sounds like pretty heavy rain. I saw caravans of power restoration crews yesterday on the highway- they were heading toward the city….or Connecticut- which is where it looks like this storm might have its greatest impact. Hope that I can get some time in either crocheting or embroidering later on. Gonna get my walk in now before the rain.
Phyl- how is your day going?

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad the storm has gone east and I hope you don't get much rain and wind, and keep power. Those quilt ladders are so pretty, aren't they? I also like those glass fronted cabinets where people fold and stack their finished quilts in them. I don't have a place to really display my quilts. I may think about getting a rack or something to hang the small ones. My SIL who quilts has several hangars in her house and she changes out her quilts to display according to the season. It's cloudy here today, not sure if it's humid or not since I don't plan to go outside at all I picked some fabrics this morning for the Snowman quilt along. I'll see if I stick with them. I also threaded some needles to work on my old sampler that I'm hand quilting. I hope I feel like working on it later. Hope all of you are having nice weather and enjoying the day. Take care!

Hi CJ- remember I had a porch pirate who stole a package from me in early May? Well, I am now super cautious at what I put online….and I figured I would never mention until I was back that last week we were in Nags Head NC. A big concern for the trip home was Henri- and if it would impact the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at all. I did not really want to have a problem with that, and I did check their web site to see when they put restrictions on the bridge for high wind. Well we crossed the Chesapeake and thankfully had no trouble…. The storm was still way out in the Atlantic. I am glad you were spared this storm as you got plenty of rain earlier. Yes, I think having beautifully folded quilts in a cabinet is also great way to display them. Yes, its a nice idea to change the quilts on display for seasons. I do not really have the space here either to put up a ladder, but its a nice idea. Do you have a snowman fabric to fussy cut for the quilt or did you buy the fabric from the designer?? Good idea to have needles threaded waiting for you when you are ready. Think Chesapeake shores is on tonight??? I know I have it set to DVR…..I recorded a bunch of episodes last week in preparation for the new season.
We have intervals of heavy rain. Guess that will be my weather for the next few hours.
Think I am going to embroider awhile….

Ginny, I've driven on that bridge but it was a very long time ago. Probably in the late 60's. I didn't like bridges and tunnels then very much but now I really dislike them. I'm glad the weather was such that you were able to cross it safely and get home safely.
Well I FINALLY finished the sides of this blanket. It's such an easy stitch but it's so much like a granny ripple and I never was good at those. So after a lot of ripping and some creative problem solving I finally, as I said, have the sides done. Now the top point and bottom point then to weave in all those ends I had already woven in but then had a do over of those rows so now have those to redo plus the new rows. Then I'll do the border. So after all this time the light at the end of the tunnel may be coming up.
I'm not 7 hats behind on my hat Sunday's but I am keeping track and will catch up before winter
