Ruth, when we decided to chAnge cable providers direct tv just wanted me to take everything to a UPS store who checked in and packed everything. It was easy- but finding an official UPS store was a hassle.I doubt they care if you are returning old equipment that does not work. Technology has changed so much that the old boxes are probably useful to them only for recycling of components. For internet TV you need to buy a TV that has the software and an internal modem of sorts. You can watch TV using some free streaming services - which I am not all that impressed with.
Will you contact the same companies about the replacement of the septic system? I wonder if the person who worked on it before will give you a break on price because you used him before and it did not solve the problem. Weaving in ends is so tedious….
I ended up in Michaels today and bought the aluminum nose wires….got a little bit of crocheting done too. Have a good night all Ginny

AND I AM DONE!!!!!!!!!! I wove in the gazillion ends then started the border...that's LONG way around that blanket. I did run into some bad parts of the yarn which I hadn't on the previous 3 skeins (maybe 4) skeins of white I was using but just a little bit after I started the border I ran into a section of yarn where gray strands were mixed in the white so I had to cut that part out. So I finally got it done and wove in those ends and now it's completely finished. Now my plan is to do all the birthday things, then Christmas things (have some of those done already) Then that will be off my mind and I'll make the other blanket. Now that I've decided I need to take it there instead of mailing I have time. Plus dgs' birthday isn't until Feb 1st anyway so it will be a bday as well as housewarming (apartment warming) gift.
I'll bbl to see who stopped in and how your day went.

Ginny, I looked but didn't see your post there before I wrote mine. Anyway, I'm going to go with a different company because I don't trust this one. I'll see what dh thinks and what he wants to do but the company I found sounded good to him.
I still haven't been to Michael's here and it's been open a couple years now...before the pandemic. I'm glad you found the nose pieces for your masks.
When I read about returning things to Directv online I saw that there were several options that THEY would choose from but the one they chose for us was to send us a packing box. They didn't saw where I am supposed to take it but that info will be in with the papers they send with the packing box I'm sure. I would have liked the one like you had and to go to either UPS or Fedex but If they have me go to the PO I guess that's better because it's much closer. Did you have to return your remotes. Dh said he's putting ours in the box whether they ask for them or not. We have 4 of theirs.

Good morning!! Ruth, over the years Direct tv had to send me new remotes as the older ones broke….I threw out the older remotes, and gave to the UPS store the remotes that were still functional. DTV gave me no choice, and I thought I had to pack everything up….so I took the equipment to them in an open box. Well I took the equipment 3 times….first try was a local Track 7 who is an agent for the UPS, USPS and Fed EX. They told me I had to go to a UPS Store, so I drove another 10 miles to the UPS depot- which is a pretty large UPS facility and has a commercial sale counter. Went in there and they told me I had to drive another 10 miles to a UPS Store….really? Meanwhile I got all kinds of snotty emails and texts informing me that DTV was STILL waiting for my equipment. Except for het Track 7 visit, none of these places were part of my normal routine….or even close. UPS boxed the equipment and scanned the items into their system…and the emails stopped. I am not thrilled with my current cable provider but am kind of stuck with them. Yay yay yay!! You got that large blanket done. What a process too, having to work through yarn that was less than cooperative. What a process and a shame that the yarn had some issues. Where is the quality control from the yarn company? Its common unfortunately, think we all have had yarn that was like that. So frustrating. I knew that Michaels had the nose clips for the masks because they indicated inventory of that online. (Which was actually even the correct amount). I was pleasantly surprised to see that they expanded their sewing section. They do not sell fabric but at least a decent stock of needles, scissors, elastic and a sewing machine for purchase. Had some excitement here last night….the younger of my two cats was acting a bit strange, and I should have recognized her behavior front the last time she caught a mouse. Sure enough, just after dinner, a small mouse showed up and the female did what a good mousing cat does…chase the mouse. I stayed with her and let her have her fun for a few minutes, watching carefully to make sure I always knew where the mouse was. Thankfully the mouse ran under the door to my tiny linen closet….and it jumped on top of a pile of rags and hid under a rag. That made it easy for me to scope up the little mouse (covered in a rag) and take it outside…..walking it about 1000 feet from my house. I hope it never comes back!!! I had 2 traps set and will get out today to pick up another 3 pack of traps. I gotta say, the kitten is an awesome mouse trap!!!! I did get some crocheting in last night and am almost back to where I was when I discovered I had to rip out rows. Now with Dd asking me to make masks, that will take precedent on my crafting list Its supposed to be hot and miserable today - a good day to stay in and make masks.. Time to get out there for my walk before the temperature is disgusting. CJ- hope you are staying comfortable. Just heard on the news that they are predicting another tropical system in the gulf, which looks like it might curve around to your area. Ugh…..not what you wanted for sure. Sue and Phyl, hope you are both well and getting some crafting time in to relax. Ginny

I haven't seen any mice here yet but it will be fall soon and all the field mice will be looking for a home which they will not find here. It's great you have your brave mouse hunter to spot them so that you can get rid of them. I keep thinking about the disaster it would be for them to find our stashes of fabrics and yarn.
Well now since I can't mail the blanket to dgd I'm going to make her a couple things so the one I'm working on now is a cowl made in dk yarn and pattern is a video tutorial for what the video maker calls Boxes in Boxes stitch. It's basically slanted shells with columns of dc between. It's pretty and I'm using a variegated yarn in browns and tans. Dgd likes earth colors and this is also a neutral so she can use it will most things. It's very easy.
It wasn't supposed to be hot today but it was then clouded over and might rain but that's always iffy.We might get thunder and lightening but probably no rain which, of course is bad because of the possibility of the lightening starting fires
See you later

Hello Ginny - It's good to know your cat is doing it's job Hope you can get the masks made so you can get back to your crocheting. Ruth - Hope you do get some rain and no wildfires. Enjoy working on your new project. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It was hot here again today but some rain was in the area mid afternoon and that cooled off the temps some. It's still hot in the house though. I'll be glad to get to the end of September when the heat won't build up as much inside. I finished Block #8 for the Summer Soiree quilt along and I'm happy with the way my blocks are blending together. Just 4 more blocks to go. I need to go ahead and start working on the sashing since I'm going to use the same fabric for them all. I just don't want to start sewing rows together yet since I'll have to figure out my layout of the blocks so they look the best. Take care everyone!

CJ, wow you're almost done with that quilt top. Only 4 more blocks...that's great and I'm happy to hear that you like them.

CJ- indeed your progress on the summer soireee quilt along is incredible. Its so satisfying that you like the way the blocks are going together- make total sense to get the sashing set up while you are still waiting to make the last 4 blocks. Agree, September has the potential to be lovely, when cooler temps prevail and the heat is not so prevalent in the day time.
Ruth, the boxes in boxes stitch sounds so pretty and also sort of easy to make. A real win- win. I would imagine a variegated brown/tan yarn would be stunning in a stitch like that, I am sure that DGD will love it!!!
Got started on another mask for Dd….and then Dd#2 came over. Plus i had contractor #1 for my drainage issues… interesting quote…I will learn from all 3 contractors and see which one makes the most sense.
Think I am making a ton of masks this weekend. Heading up to Joanns this weekend also with a friend who needs to buy more fabric that she got there.
Have a good night all G
Oh- the kitten is hot on the trail of another mouse. I figure that the flooding from the hurricane is sending them in the house early. Yes, I am going to get more traps to take care of the problem.

HI CRAFTERS, I am doing ok.
August 21st I spent 4 hours In the ER.I felt good that morning, abut 10.30 got light headed. checked my bp and bs they are fine.got in my chair drank a full glass of water started reading my book.
some more water and then crackers.
had gone to the bathroom, sat down again. was going to another room and got little wobbly told Don lets go.
got there and got into the triange right away, she sent me back.course they are willing me.went to the br before going to the room,. the young man said he would get a specimen right away, cause they would ask for one. so in everything was good, they think dehydration.
the Do said the magnesium citrate and water pills must have flushed me out
For some reason that morning I did not drink enough.I usually have two 16 ounces of water dank by then.
So Monday The follow up call comes through. so Joe and I think I forgot take the water pill as needed and took the pill maybe 3-4 days.
also I learned water pills and laxatives can dehydrate the body. I knew the pills take water away from the body, did not know laxtives do it to soften stools.
well the machines show the inside of my body is doing great.phyl

Phyl- so glad you did what you had to do to take good care of yourself!! What a relief that it was dehydration. This summer has been a rough one weather wise- Its so important to drink enough water. We have one person who posts here who I regularly remind to drink her water….now I will have to remind you too!!!
Did too much yesterday- am achy today. I am working this am (Ds is home) and am looking forward to getting home from that before it gets insanely hot. Got my first waterproofing quote yesterday. Not as devastating as I thought it would be. Getting a second quote today.
See ya later. Ginny

Happy Cleaning Phyl!! And when you finish in your house.I can always use help cleaning here….ha ha ha Glad you are so good at staying hydrated. drinking water in sufficient quantity is a problem for some folks. My mom was a big water drinker and I guess I inherited that ability. Glad you got to your playpen and got to work on jelly roll quilt. bet it felt good to get back to playing.
Think after lunch I am going back to making masks. G

Same here Phyl, you're welcome to come and clean anytime..hahaha. I'm glad you're feeling better and the problem was just dehydration. y Ginny, I'm glad that your estimate for the drainage issue was not as bad as you thought it might be. I hope you get good ones from the other two contracters also and will be easily able to decide who will be best to do your work. After Labor Day we'll start having a couple come to give us estimates also but we're pretty sure of which company we want and it won't be the one that installed the tank itself or just pumped it.I spoke to the woman who owns that company along with her husband and she didn't give me any clue of why she thinks that my tank is filled already. She also didn't offer to send someone to check it out. Plus I don't trust them. They didn't do a good job when installing the tank.
Today I've been working on my dgd's cowl and I think it's long enough now to seam it and add edging. Then I'm going to add beads and bells to my wind spinners that I plan to send also. I do have a couple other things to make before mailing the box.
I hope you're all having a good day.

Good morning!! Ruth, yes I absolutely think its important to get several quotes for your sewer project. It always amazes me how some can stay in business even if their work is less than great. But as you learn from obtaining quotes from each company, that should help you and Dh make the best decision regarding your particular problem. Yes, indeed, it does make me wonder how your system could be full again, when you just had it worked on very recently. Are you asking the company who installed your tank to come and offer a quote to remedy your problem?? I am curious to see what they offer as a solution, even if you are fairly sure you will not be using their services any longer. Even if they offer the wrong solution for your particular problem, I think we do learn from each contractor. What kind of edging are you putting on DDG’s cowl?? So you did make wind spinners….just for the little ones or for other also? Do you have a deadline for when this box needs to be sent out in the mail?
I did get to make a mask yesterday and cut fabric for 3 others. I am kind of at a stalemate, in that I am unsure of face sizes….but that can be adjusted by the length of the elastic used. With this design, the elastic is the last thing added, and the length of the elastic can be adjusted at the very last minute.
So yes, the second contractor came here….they are offering a similar solution to the problem. I am curious to see what the price of yesterdays contractor is. The first contractor offered much more detail with his offer- at least while he was here. Let’s see what the second contractor actually provides for detail in his quote. The third estimate does not get here for 2 weeks. And with the next hurricane there is a chance we get more heavy rain….I am anxious to get a final solution to this.
Hope to make a few more masks today. Its still muggy here…fall weather is more than welcome to come! Hard to believe schools open this week too. Happy Saturday all Ginny
