First of all thank you Lucy for taking on the long hot month of August.... it was a tough one for me. Hoping Sept. to be a little easier for those of us who have had to face some uphill battles..
I sent a note to my doctor to find out how long I will be contagious.. I've read a lot but have read conflicting answers to that question... hope they send a message soon. I have a young woman who I think I want to hire to help me out with housekeeping and general other stuff.. Hoping I can do a few hours a couple times a week.. She seems to be eager to do it.. and she seems caring. Hoping she works out .. but I don't want to bring anyone in as long as I could be contagious..
Had a sort of a rough day.. I don't think I'm going to take the tylenol unless I absolutely have to.. it really messes with my head taking it often and that amount... And it doesn't really seem to help that much.. I do like it for headaches but in this case not really happy with it... the Motrin helps much more.. I feel better tonight than I did this morning.. shh don't speak too soon...
Kathie hope you have a nice relaxing lunch..
Molly and Connie I love reading your posts.. almost like we are having an in person conversation.. I really try to keep up with everyone but lately I've just had a tough time even keeping up with myself..

Jenny, I hope you hear back from your doctor.
Not much to report from here. I took a big box up and put it beside the garbage can. It is already very humid out. Hard to breathe. 85 to get to 95 sunny, light chance of rain this afternoon.
Bill is coming for lunch. I bought some breakfast chops at Brookshires yesterday.
Have a great day all.

Lucy: Your picture reminds me of our ranch. I rarely lock the door and my car is unlocked. The closest we have come to theft here is the illegal Mexicans who live near the back of the ranch by the river bottom have snuck on at night and tried to pick the locks on a couple of the tack rooms. But, remember my kids are police so we don't get much of it at all. Today I'll be meeting my friend so I'm sure will have a great time.
See you all later for tuck in!

Hi!
Yes, Lucy, tomorrow is September 1!
Yellow Bus Stops in September
Lucy, TX – SPED Teacher Molly, MO – The Year Begins With School Connie, WPA -New Book Bag Diane, OK New Box of Crayons Phyl, WI - Hannah's On the Bus Kathie, CA -- Learning New Things Nancy - Missing My Students
This morning after breakfast, we went out for our walk while it is still not hot!!! It was only 73º and the high is to be 96º . Unfortunately, the ragweed is nuts and I had to turn back sooner than I liked. But, hey, I did get out for a while. I checked my phone, and the air quality is very unhealthy today. I believe it.
When we got back I shaped the little buns I want to bake. I hope they actually rise so I can bake them later today. I don't care for the huge sandwich buns you can buy, so I decided to try this.
We love our 55+ apartment! It is the right size, on the ground floor, and the neighbors are friendly. Nancy, you would fit right in here. Your apartment sounds very much like mine.
Phyl, bless you! I got the gloves yesterday, and I could still use my fingers yesterday evening! They are great!
I will be back later to read your posts, and I'll start the thread before I go to bed.
Hugs! Diane

I spent some time in the garage and finally emptied one bin. Shall we talk about saving things? I found property tax receipts from the 1930's and war rationing books. I did keep the war rationing books for the historical value, but the receipts went in the shredder. I also found the hospital bill from when my brother was born in 1939. The bill for 10 days in the maternity ward was $50, circumcision was $11.50, My brother had his tonsils out at age three. The cost was $25.77. Now I have two bins and two boxes to empty and I'm done. 82 degrees outside so maybe a walk is in my future.

Nancy, when we went through Mom's things when she died we found rationing stamps etc. I gave them to my sister in law as I thought she might could use them in teaching. I sure need to start going through drawers etc here before I pass and leave a mess for my kids.
Kathie, I only lock up at night. Sometimes I get up in the morning and discover one of the doors not locked. Yesterday I discovered the kitchen door unlocked. Occasionally I forget to close the front door and my glass door doesn't have a lock. This is a very safe neighborhood so all is OK here. I have been locking my new (to me) van. Eventually I will stop that. I never locked my truck. I have a Highway Patrolman behind me and a policeman 2 doors down. Another highway patrolman not far to the east of me. Both highway patrolmen go to my church. Sometimes I see them making the turn at the cull de sac . I live at the end, down the hill and next to the creek.
My percolator lid glass top broke completely this morning. Thankfully I had already made my coffee. Oh, I could have gotten the pot out of the camper. Anyway, Bill glued it back together so it will be good for awhile I hope. I went on Amazon and ordered 2 so I will be prepared.
Diane, I'm sorry you couldn't get your walk in. It is soooooo humid.

Good afternoon!
Nancy, just two more bins! Wow! You are probably seeing a beautiful garden at the end of the tunnel, not just flicker of light! LOL! We found some ration cards in Guy's family's stuff too. I've kept Mom and Dad's tax returns back to 2015. Beyond that, if they are checked, the gov't can come up with the documentation.
Lucy, you have done a wonderful job! Thank you! How is Bill doing now? Has his son made it through COVID? Our son was feeling a little less perky yesterday; but I expect him to get through this. I'm more worried about DGD#1, DDIL, and her parents and Gramama.
Diane, so grateful for your taking September! Hope your hamburger buns work well! You mentioned that you are closing out the sourdough starter -- does that mean you've given up making your own bread? I'm so glad you've had fun with it. You're the expert now! Also happy the gloves Phyl recommended have helped. One person told me one gel capsule in the morning and one at night help too.
Kathie, hope you are having a wonderful visit with your Lavender/Purple friend! Even way out in the country, we always locked our doors -- not so much the automobiles, but the house doors.
I had my hair cut this morning. Next month, I'll have a perm, so there is only a tiny bit of the old one remaining on the ends of my hair. It's going to be a looong four weeks. My friend, Sharon, had baked a Texas Sheet Cake because I was coming. It is delicious! She sent extra pieces home for Guy and me to have as a snack. Yum!
Hope to bbl. ~~Mollyann

Bill's son has lung issues from smoking. COPD like Bill. Plus he had a heart attack over a year ago and is on disability. The COVID was gone some time back but if a person has lung issues it is going to hit the lungs. The doctor said yesterday he was doing good so maybe he can go home soon. DD went back to work yesterday. Hubby is 5 days behind her. It never went to their lungs.
Why did you lock your doors years ago? Hubby delivered milk door to door in the 60's. People left their doors open and he went in and put the milk in the fridge. That was North Dallas. Life is different now but actually I am safe.

HI FRIENDS, I have been going through at least 2 dresser drawers, have two bags to donate someplace.have few more drawers and a closet to go through and this is just for starters, in one room.
last night as I was talking to a friend in MN,the tv screen lit up with a number.. I knew what it would be about. JERRY in Lincoln called to tell us my friend Gloria in Boise died yesterday. morning.
we had been friends since about the teens. we lived in the same neighborhood, it took confirmation classes forth 4of us,Sylvia, and GloriA(sisters) and Carol anD I, to become good friends.yes we could get into trouble.
some years after all of us were married,CAROL AND CARL went Their own ways.
Jerry and Gloria were dsil and dbil.they also had a brother name Jerry(oldest) the sister ROSE(SECOND OLDEST ,ONLY ONE LEFT) Sylvia, and Gloria.
rest in peace Gloria, you are free of all your medcial issues.

Been a busy day here and still did not get to the grocery store. Tuckered out as my Grandma used to say. I don't think my MOM tuckered out all her life and she died at 97 still going strong.
Lucy you have done a bang up job for August. Thank you. and Diane welcome to September.
My Dr appointment went well, will do the yearly blood work and that includes the fasting and also peeing in the cup. Which is hard for me to do. Especially these days when it is hard to hold it any length of time. Not sure which day I will do that but probably Thursday and then stop for groceries on way home at least that is the plan for now. I put gas in car, with the high humidity, I could smell the gas for quite awhile even on my hands and didn't spill any. did stop at the veggie market. Still butter and sugar corn for now. Hoping for Bodacious in a week or so. usually the last kind of corn on cob. Nice peaches but no cucumbers left when I got there. I still have to pick up my stuff at the seamstress. by the end of the week for sure. she is closed tomorrow. I delivered to corn and peaches to DD's house. DSIL is on days so he would get them when he got home. I stopped at Arby's and I don't notice the food being salty there?? DD had a Dr appointment after work today. I have lost 4 more lbs since my last visit which was end of March. lost and kept it off.
I do lock my doors at night but like Lucy not all the time. My neighbor locks her doors even in the daytime. I call before I go over as her TV is so loud she would never hear me knock. So open door and holler. do not lock the car up as it is garage and no way to open garage door from outside. My doors garage door in the back sticks all the time especially in the humidity and no side walk to walk back there. I don't have a big security light but almost everyone around me has one. I do not want one. I am used to being way out in country and like to see the stars.

Connie, Arby's food doesn't taste real salty. I'm sure the sodium is from other sources. I don't know if it is msg. I am sodium sensitive. A late friend and I used to eat family owned Chinese food. I told the owner and she said the food in the center had msg. She said eat around the outside. That solved my problem. Friend sorta laughed at me. The time came when she became sensitive. 'I understand now what you mean', she said.
