Good Morning Challengers I can’t watch the memorial shows. Just can’t. I pray. Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts. My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - JGTB: 💚 1 microhabit: - “No seconds with snack”: 💚 Yesterday we walked 2.1 mi before breakfast. This am I attended my WW virtual meeting and it was really good - about emotional eating or the “urge” to eat when not hungry. And the “wait 5” technique - to set a timer and do something else for 5 mins. I’ve been doing that at night when I get the urge and it does work 😊 One thing the coach pointed out was that “wait 5” breaks the habit loop of “urge-eat-comfort,” which is basically the “cue-action-reward” that creates habit. Also that the habit loop originally came from emotions. “Disrupt Emotional Eating Habits with a Five Minute Break” www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/article/disrupt-emotional-eating-habits-5-minute-breakBe well and take care, for ourselves, and for each other. AMY - Your Fitnation bike sounds good. I hope the shots he’ll with your knee pain. I believe my anti inflammatory diet is helping with my knee arthritis. Also my PT exercises - the leg lifts especially. When I start noticing a little pain in my knees it makes me a little more motivated to do my PT. I was wondering about the MOW judge decision. Hope it works out. How nice that Scott can help you make your bank deposits. I hope you’re eating a balanced diet and not only the bagels and peanut butter.
CAROL - GFY with the water class and stretching in the water. Hope you can keep doing it outdoors as long as possible. That’s so sad about your Sister. Makes me want to cry. Of course it reminds me about my Mom and my uncle. Doesn’t it just make you want to hug her and hug away the sense of loss. Of course there are no guarantees but I believe a healthy diet, exercise and staying mentally active give us the best chance of avoiding dementia.
KELLY - GFY with the good day Fri, tracking and 2 mi. I hope the visit with your eldest sis was good - “good” being a relative term given the situation. Appreciating “better than” works with so many things in life. I got to where any little sign that my Mom was enjoying something was a joy for me amid the sad feelings. I hope your weekend goes well. I’m trying to keep focus on my HHs this weekend since weekends have become a bit difficult for me to stick with healthy eating and moderation.

SUNDAY!
AMY -- Good to hear from you again! I hope you get a decision sooner rather than later about your MOW application.
CAIT -- The "wait 5" is a good technique, but I often forget about it, too. Your walks sound so nice! Yes, "better than" is a good philosophy with my sister, too, which is why I try to get her to laugh by saying she ordered crazy food or that we're going to a crazy place. We're getting together with her family this afternoon; I sure wish her boys were kinder to her, but maybe they're in a state of denial about their mom.
I had a DOR yesterday, but today I did 2 Silver Sneakers workouts (counting 2 miles), and I stretched.

I forgot to say that yesterday afternoon I did my PT floor exercises 43 mins. Major accomplishment. I’m trying to get more consistent.
CAROL - GFY with the silver sneakers WOs and stretching. Re the reaction of family members to dementia - I love how you’re trying to find things that will make your Sis laugh. I’ve seen that resentment and anger from family before. I think it comes from dysfunctional feelings of loss, fear and self centeredness. They often say things like “That’s not my Mom. My Mom’s gone. She’s dead to me.” They’re fearful about how this will affect their own lives and security. They’re not seeing that their Mom is still the same person, just sick and disabled. They can’t put themselves in her place, imagine how she feels - it’s too scary. 🤨😢

Here’s the WW Weekly technique article: “Take Charge of Your Schedule” www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/article/why-you-should-take-charge-your-scheduleSo much to do, and so little time, right? A serious shortage of hours in the day can definitely get in the way of creating (and sticking to) healthy habits. But studies show that when you're good at managing your time, you're more likely to have better results with weight loss. This week, open your calendar and look for any holes where you could schedule a few minutes (or even an hour!) dedicated to you and your wellness. To get you started, try our ideas above! Trust us, it'll be time well spent. And the recipe cards:

Good Morning!!
I had a nice visit with my sister. The weekend was fun but busy and did not make the best choices in some of my meals and snacks. I did track though. I added 6 miles Fri-Sun.
Cait: I am just glad my sister still recognizes us. Her face lights up when she sees us. Good job on your miles.
Carol: Good job on your continued working out and getting in a DOR.
Amy: I was hoping you would hear soon about the MOW. I really hope you get approved. Hope you enjoy your fixation bike.
Waving to all. Happy Walking!!

MONDAY, MONDAY!
CAIT -- I think you hit the nail on the head, that it's just too sad, scary, and depressing for those boys/men to think about what their mom is thinking/feeling.
Excellent job on your PT! I know that 43 minutes can seem like a lifetime, but it's so, so good for you!
KELLY -- you get a gold star for tracking even the not-so-good choices!
I went to water aerobics this morning and did my stretching afterwards. This may have been my last day outside in the pool, because we're leaving for Colorado tomorrow. It's been great to have class outside!

Good Afternoon Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, stayed in my 💚 zone of pts.
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - JGTB: 💚
1 microhabit: - “No seconds with snack”: 💚
Yesterday we walked 4 mi for breakfast and along the bluff above the beach. Friends came over in the afternoon for a while and we spent time out on the patio. A nice change from our usual.
Here’s the Beck tip of the day: Monday Motivation: Remember, it’s a combination of all the “little” things – like resisting an unplanned snack, making it a priority to eat sitting down, going for a walk when you feel stressed – that will enable you to reach your goals. It’s all the daily things that lead up to BIG changes!
CAROL - GFY with the water aerobics and stretching! Re the nephews - yes, my own bro had that reaction, I think. Good wishes for the CO trip!
KELLY - Yay, you, tracking everything and 6 mi Fri - Sun. I think even when we don’t realize it, the tracking has a positive effect on our thinking and choices. Aw, that’s so sweet about your eldest Sis recognizing you and your Sis, and seeing her joy. I bet that makes your day 🤗 Is her DH visiting her often? Anyone else?
Be well and take care, for ourselves, and for each other.

Good Morning!!
I had a good OP day, tracked, and added 2 mile walk.
Carol: Good job on the water class and stretching. Enjoy your time in Colorado.
Cait: Sounds like a great Sunday for you. Yes, my BIL visits often. Her one friend also visits I believe weekly. Not sure how often her children visit. I do know her oldest goes with my BIL at times. She does not really hold a conversation anymore. You get a few words. Her process is definitely different than my moms who was able to hold a conversation up until 2 days before she passed. Her last 2 days she was unresponsive.
Waving to all. Happy Walking!!

Yesterday we walked 2.1 mi before breakfast.
Long busy day with rheumatologist appt am and work. Primary Dr wants rheumatology consult re osteoporosis. Have to get blood work done.
Beck tip of the day: Tuesday Reality Check: When clients tell us, “I had a really hard week,” we ask them, “Was it hard for every single hour of every single day?” The answer is (virtually always) no. Letting the memory of the hard times influence your perception of the week as a whole can be very demoralizing and unmotivating. Keeping the hard times in perspective will help you recognize that you CAN and ARE doing it, despite some hard times.
KELLY - GFY OP and 2 mi! So glad your Sis has visitors. Once my Mom was bedridden her ability to communicate was also very limited. That went on for months as far as I recall. But she kept trying to respond until the last 3 days or so. Today’s her birthday so I’ve been thinking a lot about her and my Sis and bro and I exchanged texts this am.
Be well and take care, for ourselves, and for each other.

Good Morning!!
Another good OP day tracked, ate my planned meals, drank my water, and walked 2 miles. Work has been crazy with trying to get people tested or seen by the PCPs for symptoms of COVID. We are trying to see as many as we can as our Urgent Cares are getting overwhelmed.
Got notification that my sister's nursing home closed to visitors for 2 weeks as another staff person tested positive.
Cait: Good for you on your HHs and miles. I like to remember all the good times. Like the Reality check.
Waving to all. Happy walking!!
