We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Good morning! My plans changed because the weather here is the pits, raining like crazy both here and in Jackson where we were headed for the day, and supposed to do so ALL day. So won't be going out of town after all, since DH can't get any of the things he had planned to accomplish done with the rain. Looks like this is going to be a good day to curl up with a book. First, however, think I'll splurge and make biscuits and bacon for breakfast. BBL . . .

Dalai Lama....¡ The sight of violence makes us recoil, but we donât notice damage to the environment until itâs already happened and thereâs little to be done. Climate change is already affecting millions of farmers. We are interdependent as never before and yet we still tend to think in terms of âusâ and âthemâ. This Earth Day we need a greater sense of global responsibility based on our belonging to one human family.

The Dalai Lama is a wise man. Don't you just love his pictures? He looks like such a kind and gentle soul which I am sure he is, and he also looks like he has such a good sense of humor. Certainly our environment is in grave danger. It was in real danger before Tweety came along with his anti-environment policies, and now it is at least 100 xs worse. Ana Navarro is a Republican, in fact she was a supporter of Marco Rubio whom I can't stand, but I do kind of like Ana, at least her commentaries about Tweety. I really liked her comment about Tweety's first 100 days, âFirst of all, Iâm happy that weâre still all alive and able to even discuss it,â she said when explaining her assessment of the president. âI think some of us had such low expectations that weâre just happy weâre all still around.â That was spot on target, and it is good to remember that while he may still have a lot of Republicans fooled, he doesn't have them all. And more and more of them are seeing him for what he truly is. The Professor who first predicted that Tweety would win the election, has a new book out and in it he predicts that Tweety will be impeached. Interesting article about it in Politico. www.politico.com/story/2017/04/trump-impeachment-professor-allan-lichtman-237181

I really like Ana Navarro ...she pretty much tells it like it is & puts people in their place when they deserve it, even if they are Conservatives like herself.
Joyce, sorry your day trip was cancelled because of rain. Sunny here, so far. May pick a corner in the yard & weed. I usually turn on some Golden Oldies music on my phone when weeding. I actually like weeding & cleaning flowerbeds. Just find it rather relaxing & soothing to be playing in the dirt. đ
Gosh, I truly hope it's impeachment. Just wonder if anyone or group has the guts to start the proceedings on that. They certainly have enough now to start. I just hope no one drops the ball on the Russian Connection. There certainly has to be jail time for a few! ...like Mike " Lock Her Up" Flynn. It would be true juLstice to send him to prison for treason! ...along with several others. Tweety will almost certainly slime his way out of any jail time!
One more mug of tea & then out to pick a corner to weed.

I don't have to agree with all her politics, but I do like that she tells it the way she actually sees it regardless of political party. I like that she doesn't try to suck up to power the way that snarky, slimy Kayleigh McEnany does. In fact, as soon as I see KM come on I immediately switch to another channel, don't even wait to hear her make a sound. Enjoy the sunshine and playing in the dirt.

House GOP: Veterans Should Pay Their Own GI Benefits BycpowellPosted on April 21, 2017
Republicans have been thriving on screwing Americans out of their rights for decades now, and taking great pleasure in doing so. They tout themselves as the party of âvaluesâ and âmoralsâ and âfamily,â but we all know thatâs a bunch of malarkey.
Also a bunch of malarkey is how they fall all over themselves with praise as the party that supports the troops, and Republicans in the House of Representatives just proved it beyond the shadow of a doubt with the move that was just taken against veterans.
According to the Military Times, House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Phil Roe (R-Tenn.) has drafted legislation that would charge soldiers $100 a month for access to the GI Bill. The bill would deduct a total of $2,400 from each soldierâs paycheck to make them eligible.
To be clear, this money would not be used to offset spending, because it would only be a fraction of the total cost. Supporters of the proposal (pronounced âas solesâ) say that having soldiers âbuy inâ would make future budget-makers less likely to cut veterans benefits, which is a lie, for two reasons:
1) It is really an attempt to reduce the number of veterans whose educations they have to pay for by forcing already low-paid soldiers to give up $2,400.
2) The âpeople likely to cut soldiersâ benefitsâ are the politicians who are proposing this law!
Democrats and veterans groups believe that the education benefit is earned through service, not by paying money back to the country they serve.
âPushing this GI Bill tax proposal on troops in a time of war is political cowardice,â said Paul Rieckhoff, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. âSome politicians would rather make backroom deals than raise taxes or find other ways to support our troops as bombs continue to fall overseas.â
This is the ethos of the Republican party: âFamily values!â Unless your family looks different than theirs. âPro-Life!â Except for war, the death penalty, poor people, mental illnesses, etc. âSupport the troops!â Well, donât actually support them. Just give it lip service.

That makes me so angry! Those veterans deserve every penny of all their measly benefits and much, much more! The congressional republicans are such hypocrites about supporting veterans. They don't support anyone but the wealthy. That this proposal came from someone from Tennessee is a double whammy for me. The Rs try to portray themselves as the party of God, the party for veterans, the party for life, and yet their every move is completely counter to all of those things. And still people blindly follow them down the path of destruction.

Hi PBNJ! Oh, it's so nice to see you here. I missed you! I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I have no doubt the deplorable lunatic in the WH has taken a toll on Thinking and Reasonable people. His mindless minions slither around The People's House, making juvenile faces and acting like a gang of stupid "A" holes in front of a picture of one of our First Ladies. That particular spot in the WH seems to be a very popular place for deplorable's (including the orange oaf) to pose for a picture. They look like a rabid pack of stupid and immature fools. They've desecrated The People's House. Can anybody tell me how any American could be okay with that?
"The Rs try to portray themselves as the party of God, the party for veterans, the party for life, and yet their every move is completely counter to all of those things. And still people blindly follow them down the path of destruction."
Never forget by tricking gullible people into believing one particular group is being guided and led by God also means the "other" group is being guided and led by the Devil. That's the reason they blindly follow, trust, and obey the Republicans. Think about it. They voted for,and still support, a sexual predator who mocks and despises women, immigrants, the free press, other countries, the planet,Muslims, education, etc. He's not a politician. He's a liar,a fraud, and a cheat. So what? Who cares? None of that stuff matters and that's why the GOP is in bed with fundamental Christians. They don't have to think or reason. They simply have to believe.
The only thing that MATTERS is they believe the GOP is the party of God. God is in control. God works in mysterious ways and a vote for a Republican is a vote for God while a vote for any other party is a vote for the Devil.
This is why the Founding Fathers were so concerned with the separation of church and state.

Sarah Palin, Ted Nugget & Kid Rock truly fill up their own basket of deplorables. I saw them posing in front of a First Lady's Portrait & thought, what a clueless, classless wannabe Sarah Palin still is. She really is the pig you can't put lipstick on. I should apologize for that comment but she really really makes me want to vomitđ...

" I should apologize for that comment."
You mean apologize to pigs everywhere, right?
That picture was the last straw for me. I remember seeing the liar-in-chief having some kind of photo op in front of that picture a few weeks back. The light must be just right in that particular spot. What else could it be?
Petty, immature, stupid, evil and ugly describes the whole lot of them. IMHO, he's not a president. He's a fraud and a traitor. Those surrounding and advising him are not his administration they're frauds too. Idiots that act like idiots while in The People's House are a disgrace as well as an embarrassment to all Americans. That includes the oaf, his off spring, his cabinet, and his play date fiends (not a typo.)

You girls are a hoot! Maybe SP found that corner and that was why she looked so whacky in front of such a dignified portrait of someone she could never hope to be compared to.

Andy Borowitz....... Obamaâs First 100 Days: 1. Passed economic stimulus package 2. Expanded childrenâs health insurance to millions of families 3. Implemented new ethics guidelines to curtail influence of lobbyists
Trumpâs First 100 Days: 1. Searched in vain for White House light switches 2. Declared war on Meryl Streep 3. Lost aircraft carrier
