How are you on the “stuff” range, a hoarder to a neat-freak? How are you doing with your stuff, do you need to declutter? If so, how is it going?

The genes in my family run to the hoarding side, or just plain collecting things and not getting rid of them. The shortages in the beginning of the pandemic didn't help and I stockpiled food and paper goods. I've cut down on the amount I have in reserve now. When I was younger I use to declutter on a regular basis but that urge has flown out the window. All our rooms are accessible, the extra is in closets and on bookcases.

I could be doing better. I got rid of a lot of it during Covid shutdown. Now I’m working on the drawers and some paper clutter, projects that I purchased supplies for but never got started.

projects that I purchased supplies for but never got started. It can be like an archaeological dig when going through stuff, you finds things from different phases of your life. Over the years I've kept myself from buying things for projects because I knew I would never follow through.

I am a packrat for sure. The basement is my nemesis because there is almost unlimited room to stash stuff, and it's out of sight, out of mind as soon as I'm upstairs. However, I have been getting rid of clothes, shoes, books, and a lot of my mom's paperwork and my stepdad's stuff. She kept receipts for everything. Her home sold unexpectedly fast when she went into care (it was not even listed) and I had to move all her possessions quickly. Did well with the furniture but so much other stuff just landed in the basement and stayed there. She died in 2008!

I'm in the process of going through basement, main floor and upstairs things, lot of stuff to get rid of, planning on having some garage sales but hesitant with Covid so may wait until spring. I want to sell my house next year, just to big for me. My son is purchasing a larger condo and I may move in there, I have several options. I have a lot to part with but read if you have to give things up to take pictures before getting rid of your treasures. I want to sell my house furnished, less to get rid of.
