Your blocks, as usual, are beautiful. That block you showed the link for, I don't care much for the colors she picked.
I'm sorry about the bad news on someone you knew. And I hope the neighbor is ok.
I'm doing some cooking right now making several things.
Ginny, I'm so glad you mentioned buying that air fryer for your son. I didn't think I'd really use one but it's come in very handy. Dh uses it more than I do but I do use it pretty frequently. Today I used it to bake biscuits.

Good evening all,
CJ- my eye is drawn to the summer soirée quilt blocks…I love the blue and yellow color combination. The other two quilt tops are very pretty, my personal preference is for the deeper colors (the top quilt top) but both are very lovely. You quilt a ton more than I do, but I do understand that all these quilt alongs are SO tempting and neat. Think we all have certain quilts on our bucket list….and do those first. My condolences on the person you know who passed. Even when its anticipated, its sad to lose someone you know. Have you gotten any information on your neighbor?? Lots of ambulance calls are for things other than death….just hope its something minor.
Ruth, glad you are getting little Yoda done. Sounds like you are right on schedule to get Yoda done and packed up for a gift. Yes, when you get to see the little ones, make that slime. It was an easy to follow and PERFECT recipe, and once it fully set up, was not messy at all. There is a lot that can be made in an air fryer….will have to try it for biscuits. The only problem with that is then I have to eat the biscuits, which I do enjoy.
Had to debug a cable issue and I wanted to finish the book I was reading- so no crafting for me. I also took a very short nap. My little feline buddies seem to be quiet right now, but who knows what they will be like at 3 am.
Phyl, did you have your sew day?
Sue, how are you doing? Are you starting to see signs of fall in your area? Ginny

Hello Everyone Ruth - Hope you finished up your cooking, what did you make? Ginny - Hope the cable issue is cleared up and you enjoyed reading your book. Were the kitties quiet last night? I was able to work on my Autumn Glow quilt this morning and I have all 16 of the leaf blocks finished. I had to rip out a few of them even though I tried very hard to make sure I had them correct before I sewed them together. I just need to finish the 12 blocks for the star center section and I have them over half way done. I'm hoping to finish them up today. Then the top will be ready to be pieced together. I'd like to get it done by tomorrow hopefully. Saturday is National Sew a Jelly Roll Day and I'd like to use one of my jelly rolls and make a quilt top on that day. I have a few really simple patterns I've been saving for one of these quilts. It's warm here today, but not as hot as the last few days. We might get some rain later too. Hope you are all having nice weather and get to do some crafting. Take care!

Good evening!!
CJ- what great news that you got all 16 of the autumn glow quilt blocks (leaf). Sorry to hear that you had to a few blocks, but it sounds as though you did not have to rip out too many. Sometimes we all have those days in which no matter how hard we try, mistakes just happen. But then again, some directions are not as clear as they could be. Were you able to finish the 12 blocks for the star center? Bet that is going to be so pretty when its all put together. I really like those leaf blocks…. Were you able to pick out a jelly roll for Saturday?
Same here. Warm and a bit humid but not awful and cooling down. I finished my book and after a somewhat frustrating conversation with the cable company, that issue is resolved. And my silly felines were good and let me sleep last night. I did spend some time looking at the fabric I got for the tree ornaments…will have to get busy on them so I can get those done or at least started. I was going to crochet this evening but Ds needs a button sewn on his suit jacket, so that will take place first.
Ruth, what great foods came out of your kitchen yesterday?

Hello to both Ginny and CJ and also Phyl and Sue.
Sue I've been wondering how your grandaughter is doing.
CJ, I'm glad to hear that you were able to complete those leaf blocks despite having to do some over. I think we're all familiar with have to do do-overs. It sounds like you're really keeping up with your QAL's and looking for more to join after you finish your current ones.
Ginny, yes a button on ds' suit would come first for me too. You'll get your crocheting done sometime and those Christmas ornaments need starting and it's never too early. It's not all that far from Christmas. I think 99 days or something like that.
I am down to making "the Child"'s jacket and the sleeves for the jacket then have to make 6 fingers and 6 toes. I dislike having to make those little things almost as much as I like sewing them onto the arms and legs. But they well get done. I don't have to mail them for awhile because they are in the October/Nov group of to mail things and I only have a couple more things to make before wrapping and packing all those up. I revised my Christmas list, that is, what I'm going to make for Christmas for the children here and I'll have them done in time. I'm not sure what children that are five like but the two great grandboys will both be five..one turned 5 and the other will in a couple weeks but I'm making them all a stuffed gingerbread boy and gingerbread girls for the two girls I think..Ginny, you know more about 5 year olds than I do. Do you think they would like a gingerbread boy or should I make them something else? I'm thinking about sharks..the one5 year old loves to watch Baby Shark on tv.I don't really know much about the other one's interests.
Ok I'll quit blabbing and go crochet some more

Ruth, my family’s resident 5 year old boy would much rather a shark….gingerbread men are cute but sharks are cool!!

Hello Hope you are all doing well today. It was cooler her today, in the 70s but humid. I think it's one more week in the 80s for us here, can't wait for them to be gone I was able to work on my Autumn Glow quilt and got the 6 rows pieced together. But I ended up having to rip apart one whole row. I know I laid it out correctly before sewing, because I double-tripled checked. I think I might have turned the blocks the wrong way when I started sewing. It was just frustrating. I hope to get the rows sewn together this weekend and then decide on a border. This quilt finishes as a square and I was thinking about maybe putting a longer border on the top and sides and making it a rectangle instead of a square. I do have a few jelly rolls to pick from if I make a quilt tomorrow. The one I think I might use is blues and yellows. I feel like I've made so many blue/yellow/green quilts this year, I'm kind of tired of them. But I'd rather save the other jelly rolls I have for another quilt. Hope you are all doing well, having nice weather and getting to do some crafting. Have a good weekend!

CJ, I'm sorry that you had to rip out a row but it sounds like you're still making great progress. I know what you mean about saving the jelly rolls. I often save certain yarns for the future and something special but unlike you, I never get to that "special" thing.

CJ- to me its just plain impressive that you have enough jelly rolls in your house to select from (gosh your fabric room must look like Joann fabrics inside!!). As you know, blue and yellow is among my favorite fabric color combinations….but I do absolutely understand the fatigue from working on the same color combo.. what a shame that you had to rip one row out of the autumn glow quilt. Think we all can understand how that happens….I know it’s happened to me also where I thought I had it “right” and messed up….again. Bet you will be happy when its finished….lovely autumn quilt for fall. Will you assemble this quilt with a backing and batting??
BTW- my friend Jane was wondering how to finish her grandsons baby quilt, I suggested using diagonal lines crossing over the quilt body. (Jane does a beautiful random stipple however). She ended up doing the diagonal lines….and it is perfect. So pretty.
Bet you have heard about the national school bus driver shortage….I drove 7 hours yesterday and worked on training a new driver for 3. Long day, and I slept for 8 hours last night.
Think I might go outside in a little bit and straighten up the back yard a bit. Hard to believe I will have to rake leaves in a few weeks.
DD picked grapes the other day….she weighed them at home….another 5 batches of grape jelly. And there is still grape jelly out there on the vines (the grapes for). Probably another 4 batches. Its a small vine, I do not understand why this is such a banner year for grapes.
Hoping this afternoon to get started on Christmas ornaments. I do love the fabric line I chose for them.
Ruth, what are you up to?? Did you decide what to make for your grandsons? Gingerbread men? Sharks?
Phyl, did you ever get together for your sit and sew?
Sue, how is your new caregiver working out?
Ginny

I had a post I thought went through. I typed it out twice but it's not here. In it I thanked you, Ginny, for your advice on the gingerbread vs shark question and I'll go with the shark. I think I also mentioned your quilt and all you are getting accomplised CJ.
Well we are officially done with Directv. They shut off service at midnight. Now to get the three boxes all nicely dusted and everything packed.I'll miss a couple of the programs but it's just not worth that big payment every month for the few things we watch. We'll probably investigate, eventually, other choices for tv watching. We have a few local channels via antenna but never could get NBC. Most programs on the main channels aren't worth watching.
I also wrote about my yarn inventory. I thought I was almost done because I even got to the bins yesterday but in the night I remembered a really large section of my old entertainment center that I use to hold yarn hasn't been done yet and also one more bin to go also
I hope everyone has a good weekend. It sounds like you, Ginny, will be busy making more jelly at some point. It's great to having a plant that will produce something you can eat and it sounds like your grapevines are just that.
CJ, I know you'll be working on your beautiful quilts. Sorry you had to redo one of the rows. That's frustrating esp when you were sure it was placed correctly. I'm sure it's pretty easy to accidentally turn it the wrong way when you put it in the sewing machine.

Hello Everyone Ginny - I've heard about the bus driver shortage. It's nice you can get some hours, but maybe you'd like a break too. I hope you get to start on the Christmas ornaments soon. Have you ever made a Concord Grape Pie? I always thought that sounded good. Here's one recipe I found online: www.allrecipes.com/recipe/12289/concord-grape-pie-i/Ruth - I hope that you can finish the inventory with the rest of the yarn you found. I also hope you can find a way to watch the shows you had on Directv. I pay so much for cable each month because it's the only plan that has the channels included that I love to watch. And there are only probably 10 or so channels I regularly watch, but have to pay for the over 200+ more that I never watch Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing well I only have about 5 jelly rolls, not many compared to a lot of quilters. I'm not sure I'll be making anything with a jelly roll today. I kind of need a break from making something new right now. I finished the Autumn Glow quilt top this morning and I was glad to be finished with it It is a fine pattern, it was just that I made so many mistakes putting it together that it became frustrating. I decided just to put a 2.5 inch border around it using the same background fabric and no outer border. I'm going to use fabric that matches the dark orange in the star center for the binding. Hopefully that will pull it together. I really wish I could just go ahead and quilt it, but since I'm only doing straight line quilting I just don't think it would be the best for this quilt. A pretty leaf design (long arm) would be nice. Here are a few pictures of it. The dark red leaf is really more of a maroon red color, it just looks darker in the picture. The background fabric is a dark cream with small leaves in it. The quilt top finished at 57x57.

CJ, it's very beautiful and that binding in the deep orange you mentioned is really going to bring it all together and it will be even more beautiful
I didn't know there was a school bus driver shortage. There are so many people complaining about being out of work but none take the jobs that are available. I think most of the ones complaining are the ones that want to just sit at home and have the US taxpayers support them....the US taxpayers being us.

Ok, Ginny, question for you. Do your grandchildren watch the program Baby Shark? If so, does this shark really look like Baby Shark on the program? If you don't have time to look that's fine. I know you've been extremely busy lately. Here's the link.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKAlSvvDzAo I don't know what that yarn is she's using but it looks pretty much like Bernat blanket yarn and I don't have any in blue so if I do make it it will have to be a different color. I'm not buying any more yarn. In doing an inventory I definitely have found that I have way too much yarn. And I have some really strange yarn too that I have no idea what to make with. Some are very small skeins.
