ok thank you. I'm going to try to make one but I probably won't be using the blanket yarn. I'll have to check and see what I have. That's one of the yarns I haven't listed in my inventory yet. Thanks again. My ggs in Montana loves Baby shark. He will be five soon

Good morning, CJ, the autumn glow quilt is so very pretty!!! I agree that the deep orange fabric would make a lovely border for this quilt and pull it all together (but it looks all together now anyway!). Its a lovely quilt, what a shame that it was so frustrating for you to finish it- but Lord knows we have all had projects like that that for an unknown reason were stumbling blocks. Did you find a jelly roll to work on to celebrate jelly roll day? I know for your autumn glow quilt would look lovely no matter how its quilted….you might not be willing to spend the cash to have it long armed, either locally or by sending it to missouri. Just a few thoughts….if you put a wider border on it, you could find a nice swirl pattern on the internet and transfer that pattern to quilting paper- using that on the border. Its a bit of work but comes out well even with a home machine. Another thought would be for you to investigate a quilting ruler that fits your machine, in a pattern that you like. I wonder if there is one with a leaf pattern. (Check out quilting ruler templates on amazon). Or you could also find a nice (and simple to sew) leaf pattern online, transfer that to the gold quilting paper and sew that using your machine to this lovely quilt. Because I love the variegated threads, I would also be very tempted threads to quilt with. Hope I have not bored you to tears with my ruminations. Yes I have been very busy driving and training, thanks to the national driver shortage. In Massachusetts they are considering bringing in the national guard to drive kids in school buses. Locally for me, several districts have been unable to open, because of the driver shortage. Its a multiple tiered issue…..low pay, lack of benefits, high exposure to possibly covid kids. Surely something that the powers that be should have thought about when they thought it was a good idea to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour. A hamburger flipper can do that for $15 an hour…but surely someone who can potentially drive 45-65 lives in a single vehicle should be earning more than a few hours more than that. I love what I do, but the level of responsibility is insane. I got to a small local outside quilt show. They had perhaps only 25- 30 quilts (many smaller) but it was really nice to attend this open air event and chat with other quilters. I saw a few really magnificent quilts….fell in love with this panel that someone made into a quilt. www.etsy.com/listing/694057887/call-of-the-wild-28-x-44-panel-cardinals?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_ps-b-craft_supplies_and_tools-fabric_and_notions-fabric&utm_custom1=_k_EAIaIQobChMIkc2vsMyJ8wIVlNzICh2DRAlvEAQYASABEgJnVPD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_12565309429_122041483400_507284153231_pla-295916403786_c__694057887_211224892&utm_custom2=12565309429&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkc2vsMyJ8wIVlNzICh2DRAlvEAQYASABEgJnVPD_BwE. Wow that is a long link. Hope that it works. but it was good to get out….see the quilts. The woman I spoke to from the guild said they hope next fall to have their traditional indoor quilt show, which is usually quite a great event. Ruth, even my 3 month grandson loves the baby shark song!!! Hope you have been able to find a yarn that works for the pattern, which is adorable. I love how you will take on projects like that. Oh! Back to the mini quilt show….the woman I spoke with asked if I liked to just touch my fabric….ha ha ha….yup- that is what I did last week with the fabrics for the ornaments. I looked at the fabrics and had to handle them. Must be some kind of silly mental illness. I am sure CJ can identify with this….ha ha ha. Ginny

CJ- thanks for the recipe for grape pie…which sounds amazing indeed!!! Will have to see how many grapes I end up with on the final pick in 2 weeks, and maybe I will attempt that. Bet it smells great in the oven. Yum……

I haven't heard the baby shark song. I guess I'll have to find it online somewhere since we no longer can get Nickelodian or whatever the children's channel is called.
i guess I missed hearing about the national school bus driver shortage. I, for sure, wouldn't want to be responsible for all those children in a bus. Your school district is blessed to have you.
We reprogramed our antenna accessed channels and found we have a LOT of them available now. We even get NBC now. We should probably have tried that long before this and could have cancelled Directv sooner and saved a lot of money. There are a lot of PBS channels. I don't support PBS' political agenda but they do have some things I might watch. I don't watch much tv. Right now, though, I have the Bill's football game on and I sure don't support many of these player's actions and ideas
Ireally like that panel. I love cardinals. We have none here and I look forward to seeing some in Indiana.

Hello Ginny - If you try that pie, please let us know how it is. I'm glad you were able to go that quilt show, I bet there were some pretty quilts there. Yes, I like to look at, and touch, my fabric too My county had over 200 school bus driver openings and several local counties just flat out told the parents they don't have bus drivers to get their children to and from school, so it's up to the parents to figure it out. Thanks for your thoughts on finishing the quilt I just did. I found free motion machine quilting so frustrating that I don't want to try it again right now, maybe some day. I don't mind doing straight line quilting but I don't want to use that on every quilt I make. I've seen lots of beautiful quilts made with that panel, you should search it out on Google and select the images to hopefully see some of them. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get more channels after reprogramming your antenna. Hope you can get to working on the shark. I'll warn you not to listen to the song or it will be stuck in your head forever - Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. I cut some fabrics this morning to make a smaller version of the Fat Quarter Fancy quilt using some of those fabrics that look like jewel. I had just enough of them left to use for this quilt. I'm kind of undecided on whether I'm going to participate in the Snowman quilt along that starts tomorrow. I'm not happy with my fussy cut center blocks and I'm not sure I can get the blocks embroidered that quickly. I guess I'll see how the blocks go. I would like to make some of the blocks for the "All the Trimmings" quilt along, so I might do that. And I pulled some fabrics for Pat Sloan's Fall Frolic quilt along that I think I like to participate in that one. I hope to get back to my hand quilting piece too once it's cooler. It's just too hot in the house to have that quilt laying on my lap right now. Hope you all had a good day and were able to do some crafting. Take care

CJ- guess I did a crummy job of explaining that what I was really suggesting was not free motion work at all, and you are following a directed pattern. Its a hybrid….and turns out pretty well. But i totally respect your hesitancy to doing FMQ- but you might find that using a template (so you are forced to sew over a template) gives the answer. Hope you are finding cooler temps soon so you can resume your hand quilting. Back to the autumn charm quilt….would you consider hand quilting it using a template to create leaf designs?? You do such lovely quilting work and your hand quilting is elegant and looks great. Hope you can figure out what you want to do with the snowman quilt. You will do what is best for you and your taste.
Ruth, DONT HATE ME!!!!! It will be super easy to find the baby shark song and its the most repetitious little ditty going. The kids love it. It drives me nuts. I watch a bit of showers on PBS, but of course do not support their political views. I am so happy for you that you were able to figure out programming so that you and Dh are getting more channels. What great news….especially with cooler temps and winter headed, having some good television to watch might be helpful.
So while looking for the prairie point video I found this other video for ornaments. It takes only a few minutes to put together…and while I have to find the perfect circle to trace….it came out pretty well.
Golly, Monday is just around the corner.

Ginny, thank you!!! I think that even I could do those. I'll have to dig into my fabric stash and see what kinds of Christmas fabric I have. I know I have a lot so some of them should work.
I meant to say too that I once belonged to a group call Christian Business and Professional Women ( or something close to that.) There was one woman, and I can't remember what she told us but she felt as though she should have all the meetings at her house and she would prepare a meal. We always had a great meeting and a fantastic meal. One week either everyone decided to bring a pie or this woman I mentioned said she was going to make pie for the next meeting, but at any rate, one woman said she was going to bring her special pie. It was a concord grape pie.I had forgotten all about that until you mentioned the pie the other day, CJ. I've never seen anyone else make one.I don't even remember anymore how it tasted but I'm sure it was really good. That was a LONG time ago. At least 50 years (How did I ever get to be so old?)

Ginny - Those ornaments are cute and that was a good tutorial. You did explain the quilting well, I just didn't respond well I've tried using the printed paper with a design to quilt over, I've marked a quilt and tried that but the combination of using the free motion foot (because the walking foot didn't work for me doing this) and keeping the speed consistent so my stitches were consistent was just more trouble than I liked. I know that it just takes practice to get better at it, but I don't want to put the time into that right now. I do appreciate your suggestions though Ruth - I'm glad you had a piece of Concord Grape Pie one day. All this talk about grape jelly sure makes me wish I could have some of my grandmother's jelly again
