I have been struggling lately and have started to think about what I would do if went more than two pounds over goal. Could I get myself to go back into losing mode, just pay for awhile, or up my goal weight? The problem with upping my goal weight is I feel I would just keep gaining so I need to hold the line where I am. I did change my goal weight a year or two into maintenance. My goal weight was 12/13 pounds above my personal goal and I had started to gain. I couldn't get myself to be serious about losing the gains above my personal goal because of the huge cushion. I moved my goal weight down to a pound over my personal goal and that is what I'm maintaining right now.

Any need to change goal weight - My personal goal weight is several pounds below my WW official goal weight. My official Lifetime goal weight is at the top of my healthy BMI range. When I got to my official goal weight this time, I kept on going until I felt that I had reached a good weight for me on the basis of several factors. This was at the end of 2010. I haven't changed anything since. This was my 4th time getting to goal weight on WW. The first time, I had set my Lifetime goal for quite low, lower than my personal goal weight this time. The second time, I set it for mid-range, somewhat higher than the first time but still below the top of my range. I think I set my official goal weight at the top of my range for my 3rd time. It didn't seem to matter over the years what my official Lifetime goal weight was in terms of being able to maintain it. Whether it was very low or very high, I always gained weight until this time. It took a change in my thinking and behaviors to learn to maintain. I'm still learning. The problem with upping my goal weight is I feel I would just keep gaining so I need to hold the line where I am. bbbearsmom, This is exactly what's happened to me. I'm sorry that you feel that you're struggling. I often feel that I am too. I don't really think that it will every come easily to me. I hope that it will for you.
