CJ- as you well know, it takes a lot of practice to get the free motion quilting down especially as it pertains to stitch speed. Honestly, I am probably not as hard on myself as you, and on a technical level (or any level for that matter!!) you are a better quilter than I am….I was just hoping to come up with some ideas for you…you still could hand quilt a leaf pattern in selected spaces on your lovely quilt, and I am sure it would look great.
Ruth, glad you liked the ornament pattern!!! Its got a lot of potential….I have to work on perfecting it however. And a great way to showcase pretty fabrics.
See ya later! G

Hello Ginny - Thank you, I always appreciate your suggestions/help with quilting. I do not agree that I'm a better quilter than you though, your quilts are beautiful Ruth - Did you listen to the Baby Shark song yet? I'm blaming you for hearing it in my head all the time now Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's a nice day here, in the 70s and sunny. I'm hoping that we'll continue to have milder temps and I can remove the air conditioner from my bedroom window next week. I worked on the blocks (there are 16 of them) for the small Fat Quarter Fancy quilt this morning and should be able to get them together with a few borders on it this week. I'm happy to get to use more of the jewels fabric. I also pulled out my orange scraps and I need to figure out which ones to use for my monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks and then cut the rest of them into strips and squares. I'll be glad to have the brown ones done next month. It's been good to get my scraps in order, but it isn't a lot of fun. I still have a large ziplock bag of novelty print scraps so I'll have to figure out what to do with those. Hope you are all having nice weather and that you get to do some crafting this week. Take care

I think you're both great quilters. You may have different areas in which one of you have more practice but both of you make wonderful quilts.
CJ, I thought your snowman center fussy cut squares were fine but I think that if I made this I might use an entirely different theme...not Christmas or snowmen.
It's very cool here today. I was sure surprised to hear that the high for today will be only 58. Later in the week, though, it will get back up to 80.
CJ, also you seem to be better at looking at your fabric and deciding what to use it for than I do looking at my yarn and deciding.
I didn't meet my goal of having baby Yoda finished by today but I do have all his parts done and will put them together, maybe not today, but sometime this week. He is for the next box I'll be packing which won't be mailed until first of Nov. In the meantime I will finish a few other things that need to be done before Christmas.I saw a really pretty bandana cowl I'm adding to the list for Christmas gifts for the women here in town and the two in Montana. I have four men's gifts to make for Christmas but am not sure of what to make for them yet.
Have a great day and great week all.

About 2 years ago I subbed on a special needs route, with a student who sang the baby shark song non stop for 45 minutes. Cute song, but it will drive you nuts eventually!!!! Warning….this is the link for the baby shark song….. don’t hate me for posting it I just want to make it easy for Ruth if she is brave enough to view and listen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqZsoesa55wCJ- so glad you had pleasant weather…think we are in for a whole week of good temps. Perhaps some rain for me later in the week, but nothing awful. At least its not super hot or humid. I love how you are working at organizing your scraps and pieces as you go each month. Are you done next month when brown is the color?? Sounds like you also made good progress on the small fat quarter fancy blocks. Love the look of smaller blocks. Bet the quilt will look pretty when all done. Ruth-so you have some work to do on Yoda…..those bandana cowls sound so pretty!! Thankfully you have time to figure out what gifts you will make for others. Hope you can find some good ideas for gifts. Off for study tonight. See ya later! Ginny

It's 42 degrees right now andwe had a thunder and lightening and hail storm. At first the hail was quite large and really pelting down so I hope my cars aren't dented. There is snow on the mountain but with it getting back up to 80 this weekend and 70's before it won't last long.It looked like snow here too but it was just hail and was soon gone. I'm afraid to listen to the song now after what CJ said. I am going to go there and listen, though, as soon as I find my headphones.I always have some song in my head so now, for awhile, It will be the baby shark song. The bandana cowls are very much like, if not identical to the ones that are called shawl/gaiters on youtube and they're just as easy to make. I'm in the middle of one now and I think there's only three more to make after this.... I don't think I made 4 of the others. Well I did but in one the yarn was defective in that grey blobs showed up in the yellow yarn and makes it look dirty so I won't be giving that one to anyone.I might donate it to the Goodwill where people will have a choice to buy it or not. I cooked beans in the instant pot today as dh asked me to do that so he could make bean soup. He's very creative in his cooking.

Hello Ginny - Oh, come on - I know you enjoyed listening to the baby shark song for 45 minutes while you were driving the bus Hope you get to do some embroidery today Ruth - The cowls sound pretty and are a very nice fashion piece to wear - I hope the ladies who receive them will like them. I'm glad you like using the instant pot, it does sound like an appliance that would be good. Phyl - I haven't watched Lori Kennedy, I'll have to check her out - I'm glad you were able to get to a workshop she held. I've opted out of the snowman quilt along too, there are just too many others going on and I really don't need another table topper size quilt right now. Sue - Hope you are doing well My crafting today is just checking things on the internet. I had to go out earlier and that about took care of my day for me. I've been getting a bunch of spam phone calls this afternoon - probably 20 in the last few hours. Some of them leave a voicemail saying there has been a suspicious charge made to my account and to contact them. I know they are fake. I think it's really sad these people can do this because I'm sure some people fall for it and contact them or press the button that gets there information given out Take care everyone!

Hello all. No Ginny, I haven't gone to the baby shark site yet. I forgot to look for my headphones and can't hear without them. I use closed captioning when I watch tv.
CJ, sorry about all the spam calls. I don't get many. I never hear my phone when it rings anyway because I have to leave it by my modem to charge and the modem is downstairs. Even when I'm down there I don't hear it anyway. There never are very many missed calls which are all spam calls. Now my cell phone is a different story. I never hear it either...I keep it shut off...but you should see the texts I get. I really have to find out how to block those sites from calling my number because I'm sure it uses up my text minutes. I have tracphone. Mostly what I get is emails that tell me to contact them right away because my payment is due and it's always either from a site that looks like one of my credit card companies or it's from some company that I don't even deal with. Today I got one from a place claiming to be a casino and I had to contact them immediately to confirm my winnings. Well I don't go to casinos anyway but I do know they wouldn't be emailing to tell me I've won. I don't even open them.
I'm working on that bandana cowl today and it has a bead stitch row every six rows. Well today I did that row over about 10 times at least because of messing it up. I guess I can't crochet and chat with my grandaughter online at the same time. I finally did get it done without mistakes so tonight I should have it done.
Have a good evening all

CJ you are killing me!😂 baby shark for 45 minutes!!! Think I would have to be sedated to listen to that song for that long. Yes indeed- the phone scammers are increasing their assault on our sanity. I get the Amazon scam call a lot. So annoying

Ruth - there must have been something in the air today- so sorry you kept having trouble with the bead stitch. Hope your conversation with your Dgd was pleasant. I had trouble threading a needle today- even using a needle threader I could not get it right. How silly.
Got some embroidery time in today- and my friend and I went to a quilt shop and cross stitch store. The quilt shop was uninspiring - but they also had some natural fiber yarns…..good idea you like natural fiber yarns. The cross stitch shop was quite something and had a huge inventory. For counted cross stitch lovers it is quite an inspiring place.

Hello Ruth - Hope you were able to finish the bandana cowl. Has it been colder there? Some of the webcams I look at in your state have shown some low temps. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get some embroidery done and that you were able to visit a few shops. I used to really be into counted cross stitch and loved to go to those stores - they were very popular back in the 90s around here. It is a humid day here and we're getting some heavy rain this afternoon and maybe tomorrow too. I went out this morning and bought some groceries - stocking up on a few things since it's been several weeks since I did that. I found most of what I was looking for. This store doesn't have good fresh produce so I'll have to stop by another store soon to get some of that. I noticed that gas prices are back up above $3.00 again after going down for awhile. I did finish the table topper I was working on with the jewel fabrics. I had a few more problems again with piecing it. I'm probably just rushing and not taking time to check things first. I hope to work on the last block for the Summer Soiree tomorrow so I can start on the sashings. Take care everyone!

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you were able to get in some embroidery. We don't have any embroidery stores here. I didn't even know they had such a thing. It must be very nice to be able to see all the possibilities involved in embroidery. I kind of dabbled in it when I was young but lost interest after a short time.
CJ, I also went out today. Post office and grocery shopping. I was amazed at how much things cost in that store. It used to be a favorite of ours mostly because of meat prices...Not today. Gasoline is also up to $3.44/gallon for regular. I did get the bandana shawl done. I have three more to do and I am thinking of making another of that bead one in white. The designer of the pattern shows one in white on her ravelry page and it's beautiful. The only thing with the one I made yesterday is that I didn't follow the instructions for the neck warmer part and it's a little tight going over the head but I'm sure it will stretch. Next time I'll follow directions but I didn't because it looked like the neck was going to be too large.I also made the shawl part smaller and if I do make another I'll make it smaller too because it's just way too large otherwise. It's not supposed to be a full shawl but if you followed the pattern it would be. I also didn't use the border in the pattern. It looks so nice without it that I didn't bother.
CJ, you are definitely coming right along on your planned projects. That must feel great.
