Phyl, no I didn't see Helen's post. I don't go to over 60's anymore except when someone like you tells me about a post I should read. That's just so sad about Doris. And I'm sorry to hear about Maxine's daughter. I know she had one daughter that was pretty sick with a lot of chronic illnesses. When you talk to her again tell her I send my condolences. She probably won't remember me but she and I used to email.
It sounds like your chiro does xrays. Our doctor told us that dh couldn't have xrays until he went to PT or the ins wouldn't pay. Well I don't think his insurance pays for chiro either but I keep telling dh he should see one. I wouldn't mind paying for some xrays to find out what's causing him all the pain. I'm glad your chiro treatments help but sorry to hear that you aren't able to sew right now. Have you been knitting?

Phyl, so sorry to hear that your hips and back have deteriorated so much….I wonder what kind of procedure they are recommending for you and how effective it is. I do hope that somehow you can get some machine time in. A shame that your treatments are interfering with your crafting.
Ruth-my sister actually does some volunteer work at a sit here/cross stitch shop. She knows the owner who gives her a steep discount as payment for her efforts. This shop I was in was packed with patterns….many of them unique (and expensive!!). If you like to do counted cross stitch, it was a great place to visit. I think I paid $3.35 this am in New Jersey for gas. Ugh. I will have to look up what these bandana shawls look like. Of course you would be able to adapt a pattern to adjust the size to fit. You are so talented.
CJ- well the heavy rain is here now at my area. I think sometimes I get so excited with the project or just want to finish it so badly that I mess up. Bet you are glad you finished the table topper. Will you quilt it and use it for fall decor?
I am tired - not sure if I will be able to stay awake to embroider today. We shall see. Hope this rain passes quickly….and no problems with wind damage or moisture.
Have a good night all Ginny

Hello Everyone Phyl - I'm sorry to hear that your hips are bothering you and you might need surgery. I hope the chiropractor appointments help some. Ruth - I'm sure it feels good to finish a project, and I know you said you have several more to work on for holiday gifts. Ginny - Hope the rain doesn't cause you any problems in your house again. We did have the early rain here this morning, it woke me up around 7:00 A.M. and I couldn't get back to sleep. The quilt top I just finished isn't in fall colors, so I added it to my stack of those I'm not sure how I want to quilt Sue - Hope you are doing well. I finished the last block of Pat Sloan's Summer Soiree quilt along this morning so now I'm ready to start sashing the 12 blocks. I had to cut my sashing pieces larger since I'm going to have to trim them down once I've finished attaching the sashing. My blocks were not all a consistent size and someone recommended this is a good way to get the sashed blocks to all be the same size. I've never tried this before so I hope it's not too much of a hassle to trim them all down. Since I'm making so many mistakes recently I'm going to have to be really careful. Hopefully I can get back to hand quilting on my sampler piece once I get the Summer Soiree top done. I took the window AC unit out of my bedroom today. Even though we still have some warmer days forecast for next week, hopefully the fans I have in the room will keep it fairly comfortable. Take care everyone!

good evening, I am not sure what they will do with the crooked spine, needing hip surgery does not brother me. not sure if I want to go through the fussing. have heard some patients are in more pain when they do.some cases you are stiff the rest of your life
the only reason I am not sewing now, is I don't want to undo what my chiro did.I am ok for awhile.I think it is leaning into the machine that does it. I have my ironing board in back of my chair, still make it a point to get up and stand when ironing.
at the cutting table I cannot stand to
Wisconsin once had a law the chiro hast to take x-rays if this your first being worked on,now it that law still holds true I DO NOT KNOW.. MY chiro is in with my clinic and hospital, he can bring up x-rays from my ortho doctor.
DESSIE'S DD was the one who thought she had to take every vitamin in the world. they tried to get her off of them, also she was very over weight.
this am I met Delona at panera bread ,we had a good visit.she is busy with her mom going to a memory care unit and getting the house cleared out.plus dealing with insurance companies over that 7 inches of rain we had awhile back.
we each had the cinnamon crisps, crams cheese and coffee. boy did I BALLOON UP LATER. phyl

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that you are so tired. I hope you can sleep well tonight and get rested. It's probably not a good idea to try to embroider when you're tired. I know that I make mistakes when I'm tired.
CJ, you are so knowledgeable about quilting. I know you will pick the best choices for fabrics and whether or not you want to hand quilt them yourself or send them out to be quilted.
Phyl, have you noticed that after any particular class of foods you become more bloated than at other times. Such as maybe dairy products, coffee or things with wheat in them?
Well last night and today I've been working on water bottle carriers. It's one of the things I'm going to make for the men in the family here. I have one done and am working on the second. I thought I could get more done today but I spent too much time looking at new patterns which is really dumb because I already have more patterns than I can ever use. I just need to buckle down and get some of those done esp the ones I have plans to make for specific people or specific holidays.
Have a good rest everyone and we'll see you all tomorrow

Ruth, I seem to remember you mentioning a special urgent care facility (or similar) where they handled only muscular/skeletal issues. Would Dh go there? Is he improving at all after his injury?
I did get some embroidery in last night….such a relaxing thing to do. Hope that this weekend I can return to working on Christmas ornaments, or actually get started on them.
Guess I better get started with my day….. see ya later Ginny

Hello to you, Ginny and all who come in later and those who read here.
Thank you Ginny, I'm glad we found that urgent care for muscle and joint injuries but, no dh didn't go and his injury did heal itself so he's back to just the usual hip, back and neck pains. He didn't want to go to the urgent care because of risk of the virus due to us not having the vaccine. No he's seriously considering getting the vaccine next week so he'll feel better about being out and especially to see his doctor. In fact he told me to call today and find out where we can get it.If we could manage to get his hips, esp the one, x-ray'ed, I'm sure they would be telling him that he needs a hip repacement also.
Yes it is great to be able to work on our crafts. As you said, it's very relaxing

so I'm wondering which vaccine all of you got. As far as I can see, the only ones available here are Moderna and pfizer

Hello Everyone Ruth - I got the Moderna vaccination. I was very hesitant about getting it, but I'm glad that I finally did and hopefully it's giving me some protection even though things are pretty good in my state. I did have a sore arm and one sick day after getting the second vaccination where I had a bad migraine and nausea, but I was glad my body reacted to it. I have older relatives who also got the Moderna vaccination and all they felt was just tired the next day. Some of my relatives who got the vaccination early on are already hoping to get the booster shot. I hope your DH can decide what is best for him, since he would like to get out to medical appointments. Ginny - I'm glad you are getting to do some embroidery. I find all that stitching handwork to be really relaxing too. Hope you can get back to working on the ornaments. Phyl - Hope you can make the best decision for you with treatment for your spine. I'm glad you were able to go out and have a meal at Panera. Sue - Hope you are well. I went out grocery shopping again this morning to get some fresh produce and a few other things that the store I went to on Wednesday doesn't have. I found some of the Gum Drop grapes and they taste good this time, compared the bad ones the last time I bought them. I also bought a small cored pineapple. I eat mostly canned and frozen fruits and vegetables so having the fresh ones are a treat. I also took care of some banking and was glad to get that done and off my mind. The bank where I have my main accounts is closing the branch that I use all the time, this bank is pretty much forcing people to do everything online. I liked to go there each month and get money at the ATM, since I feel safer than using an ATM in a store - especially since I don't live in that safe of an area. So I was distressed to think I wouldn't have a branch to go to. But I was able to set something up at another bank with several branches around that have drive up windows - so now I can deposit checks and get money there. Taking care of finances and bills has become a part time job for me No quilting today, since all the running this morning wore me out. I hope I can get some done this weekend. The weather is nice here, so the house is cooling down and I have some windows open which is nice too. Hope you are all having nice weather and getting to do some crafting. Take care!

Yes, CJ, its so nice that cooler temps have arrived and fall like weather is here. Bet you are glad that you got the AC out of your window. What a pain in the neck that the local branch of your bank is closing. (Bet that Covid is partially to blame for that). I had that happen to me, and I emailed and called everyone who would listen- telling them they are doing a gross disservice to the customer. It ended up that another bank took over my local branch , which meant another bank switch, but I still have my local branch. I now deposit checks using the app and my phone or the IPAD. But what a pain in the neck it is to have to go somewhere else to get cash. Glad you located some gum drop grapes. Gosh they sound so good.
Ruth, like CJ, I got the Moderna shot. (Which honestly from what I am hearing now is the better shot). My arm was achy, and a day or so after ward I was tired. I also had a headache every day around noon for an entire week, and got that with both shots. I think for Dh its a good idea to get the shot….BTW, my physician is NOT recommending that I get a booster shot for at least another 2-3 months, should a third shot of the Moderna vaccine be approved. Hope you can get some time in crochetting.
I baby sat today- having traded babysitting days this week with my DD’s MIL so I could get away for a few days. Its good to be home and sleeping in my own bed.
Think I am going to embroider a bit Ginny

What I heard was that the Moderna vaccine has 100 mcgms of vaccine where the Pfizer one has only 30. Dh wants us to get the Pfizer one because he thinks there will be fewer side effects that way. We were planning on getting them on different days but now we decided to just go ahead and both of us get one at the same time so that we only have to make two trips rather than four.
CJ, same thing happened to us. Our branch of our bank closed and now we have to go to a part of town that we never usually go to for anything. It's a real pain. In our case we don't have to worry about it being in a bad part of town at least. And yes, by the time I get done with shopping I'm usually too tired to do much else that day, but sewing is also much more strenuous than sitting and crocheting so it would be more tiring than enjoyable for you.
WEll Ginny, if we end up getting headaches from the vaccine it won't even be noticeable to my dh because he has a lot of headaches anyway. Feeling tired also is a common thing with him. I'll make up food ahead of time so in case we feel too bad to cook it will be ok.

Ruth - Another thing I saw emphasized is to make sure to drink water about an hour before the vaccination and to keep hydrated during the day. The instructions for my vaccination actually said to drink 16 ounces of water one hour before my appointment. Since I drink about 8-10 cups of water a day it wasn't a problem for me, but I've read that it does help with not feeling as sick afterwards. I'm sure you'll get instructions about what to do. I got my vaccination at a CVS store and it went very well. A relative of mine who is a RN had the Pfizer vaccination and will probably get the booster shot because they are working in hospitals, sometimes in covid wards. Ginny and Ruth - Sorry to hear you've had banking problems too. I think a lot of banks want everyone to do everything by phone/computer, but it's not always possible. I know I'm pretty old school and only in the last few years have I started doing a lot more banking online. I wanted to complain to my bank about the branch closing too. I was going to write to them and tell them how I was supposed to get cash from my phone/computer since they wanted me to do every transaction with them that way The next thing I'm going to try is using a debit card at the grocery store. I really like paying cash instead, but I think it might be time to move into the future a bit

We don't have a CVS here but I did look up all the local pharmacies online to see what vaccine they had. I think we'll be going to Walgreen's. One of my cousins just reminded me too about drinking a lot of fluid after the vaccine but she didn't mention drinking 16 ounces beforehand so thank you for telling me about that. We plan on just going there because they do accept walkins and that way we don't have to worry about having to cancel an appointment if something comes up that we can't make it.
I do all m banking online but dh likes to get cash so he's the reason we have to go over there. I know there's an app for scanning a check for depost into your account but I have no idea how to do that and I rarely get checks. I did get one of the checks the gov't sent out ...stimulus..or economic impact check or whatever they called it, and also had a check from my auto ins for the damage to my car from the trash bin hitting it so that also necessitated a trip to the bank. I pay for all my groceries (and everything else I buy) with a credit card. I get reward points from the card which really adds up to quite a bit of cash at times. Also with credit cards, if someone somehow gets ahold of your card info you can only be held responsible for $50. Not usually so with a debit card so I stopped using those. With a debit card they can also empty out your bank account that card is associated with...or so I'm told.
Ginny, I hope that if you get that rain that it doesn't flood again. Are you having that work you need for better drainage soon?

Good morning, Ruth, my former bank (which has merged to become my present bank) both use the app where you scan a check. During the height of covid when I was completely unable to get to an open bank I had to learn it. Its SUPER easy to use, and i prefer doing that to having to go to the bank now. Yes, I still have to use an ATM to get cash…anyway, as long as you are using a phone or tablet with a camera (to photograph the check), its SUPER easy to use. Both banks provided excellent short easy to understand instructions to walk you through how to deposit a check. Back to vaccines. The current information I am hearing is that Moderna is a bit more effective overall than Pfizer. That being said, I think I would get whichever vaccine is the easiest to obtain, and I am sure the Walgreens can tell you which shot they are providing. Yikes. And its almost time to get a flu shot too. The nurse who gave me the shot told me that they were seeing that younger patients reacted more strongly to the vaccine- which in my unprofessional opinion is probably because a younger person has a more active immune system, therefore a stronger response. Did you ever resolve your septic issues?
CJ- I bellyached LOUDLY- called, emailed etc…..several times to several different sources about the bank closure. They tried to tell me that the branch 30 minutes from me was a local drive (as opposed to the branch 5 minutes from my house). Of course that is lunacy….30 minutes is NOT a close drive and I do not usually conduct business in that town 30 minutes from my house. I am sure they did not make the decision to transfer my local bank to another bank (which kept my branch alive under a new bank name) because I called/emailed….but I had to go down trying. I have gotten used to the debit card at the food store and use less and less cash.
I am about to sign on the dotted line to start the process of getting my home drainage system installed. Its nerve wracking yes, but something that has to happen.

I complained to my band too but it did no good. They sent me a list of atm's close (so they said, anyway) to me
I have all my water bottle holders done except for sewing on the handles...the handles are done so just have to do the sewing. I made two extras because one is made larger for a larger water bottle and one is a variegated yarn with a color in it that is kind of iffy for a man. Now I want to make them coffee cup sleeves for the type of coffee cup you would get at someplace like Starbucks. Then the men will be all taken care of for Christmas. Later I might do key lanyards for everyone or maybe pot holders or some of each, if and when I get time. I have to make three more bandana neckwarmers then onto the four Baby Sharks..Well I may have to make six of those. I'm going to be really tired of Baby Shark by that time.
