diva49 I didn't want to edit your post because I wasn't sure what link you were trying post but the first one just goes to connect in general and the bitly one isn't an active link. Here is a link for the new book from Gary Foster with all of the information for the special offer, just click the world "GIVEAWAY" read.macmillan.com/lp/the-shift/*If this is the one you were looking for you can just edit your post and I'll delete mine. 😉 The CONNECT "trending" one "worked in the moment" yesterday to get to Gary Foster's big announcement - now his post's gone down the line pretty much into oblivion. When I highlighted the bitly link and right-clicked, it opened. Many paths, same goal: sell books Personally, I don't #giveashift

All this reminds me when this "shift" in WW started and Beck got kicked off of the old message boards because it was considered a competitor. Can't say I'm interested in the book since I have such a history with Beck. I do remember when I was doing Beck before WW took up a cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) approach sitting in meetings thinking that was what the meeting topics were missing. Am looking forward to hearing book reviews from the people that buy it.

bbbearsmom, Judy I remember the problems with the Beck thread on the old boards. It was so ridiculous for them to be fighting something so helpful. Thank you again all these years later for managing Beck discussions there - you definitely turned me on to her CBT tools and I got so much help from her book and from your discussions. There is at least one person on connect who posts a daily Beck discussion and has been doing so for quite a while I think. Apparently it's all fine with WW now. I won't be buying this book.

Be patient and it will eventually show up on eBay or ThriftBooks or your local thrift store for a fraction of the price.

Book may show up at your local library as well. Has anyone read the book here on the boards?

There's an excerpt on the site www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/blog/the-shift-chapter-1(link was in the WW "daily" e-mail) Wasn't particularly anything new/different/exciting. If the book's in stock locally at the bookstore, I'll likely get a copy - might not be anything new. But, I like books.

jasimonsThanks for posting the first chapter. It's what we've heard in previous workshops, nothing new. Wish they had posted the book on the WW app so members could read it but then we know it's all about money.

jasimons, thank you for posting that excerpt. I hate to sound jaded, but I’ve heard it all before, unless the other chapters have new information. Hopefully Amazon will let us peek inside, like they do with most books. Again, thanks.

jasimons, Thanks for the link. It was an interesting read. It is much like what is in the book: The Beck Diet Solution by Dr. Judith Beck. I've often thought that if someone asked me about losing weight one of the first things I would say to them is to be kind to themselves. It's a little hard for me to say that because I worry that their being kind to themselves might end up being permission to overeat. Part of me still likes tough love. I think tough love doesn't have to be negative, just an honest acknowledgement of the situation, your responsibility in it, and a plan to not let it happen next time.
