Good afternoon, everyone.
Itās a sunny, warm day. Iggy grilled burgers and portabellos today and I made zucchini āfriesā with no coating. Right now I have a banana bread in the bread machine.
Iggy seems to be back to normal today and has done some light chores. He is restricted from heavy lifting for a week. We are planning some errands for tomorrow. Nothing new going on.
Hopeyour day is going well.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Where did September go??? Is Iggy making up for lost meals? So no heavy lifting for him? I don't remember having that restriction after any of mine. I wonder if that's related to his heart problem. Are your grilled portabellos stuffed? If so, with what? Enjoy the "fries". How did the bread turn out? I've never tried that in the Zo. I always use a loaf pan and pop it into the oven. Did you use a Zo recipe or one you had?
Linda, how clueless is your senior senator? I hear the Dems in your state aren't any happier with her than the rest of the country, and her fellow Dems in Congress also are having issues with her. She dresses rather inappropriately at times and I find it difficult to take her seiously. I know the WH has some constraints on DeJoy, but I wish they would put some pressure on him to move things away from this business model he's trying to push. Yesterday was the first day this week we got mail delivered but things kept popping up on Informed Delivery that were supposed to be delivered earlier in the week. It's been a mess since he took over and it's getting messier. I don't think he has a clue what he's doing and should turn things over to people who do.
That gator got released way too close to houses, Kathy. I hope there will be no further problems in that neighborhood, but I fear there will be. Publix had some empty shelf space in the TP aisle, which surprised me. I was able to get a couple of Northern, but it was running kind of low. We have started getting at least a pack every time we go to the store. Greenwise veggies were stocked up, however, and I did get 3 packages of Capri Blend because I was down to my last bag. Have you heard anything about why so many storms are diverting out to sea instead of being drawn to land? I don't remember a year where it has happened so frequently as it has lately.
I was listening to a podcast before I left this morning and the host, a chiropractor, was talking with a nutritional biochemist who is also a dietician with an MPH. I was right there with him until they started talking about covid and both said they had not been vaccinated and the biochemist said he probably had covid but had never been tested and had no symptoms ever. My first thought was how many people he has probably infected without evening knowing it. He also said that people who have a blood Vitamin D level above 50 don't get symptomatic covid and claimed it was backed up by research. I did find a study that Vitamin D deficiency is associated with symptomatic infection, but can't find anything that shows results for the opposite effect he claimed. My last Vitamin D level was 51.9, so that peaked my interested. Not sure, all things considered, that I trust this speaker. Osteo went well. I had one new high and things went better on the other 3 machines this week, so that was good.
Waving to the rest of the gang.

Chele, thanks for the start. It's 85 and mostly sunny here. It's like someone flicked a switch and our rainy season has ended, at least for now. Glad to hear Iggy is returning to normal. Sounds like some good grilling!
Karen, we've had a large area of high pressure off of the east coast for most of hurricane season and that helps steer them out to sea. I know they talk about the Bermuda High sometimes, but I'm not sure if what we had this year is the same thing. I just got a Capri blend to replace the one I had this week, but I already had some of the others in the freezer. I have 2 larger packs of TP that are my reserve and also the packs of my less favorite brands in the linen closet, so I think I'm good there. I don't think I would trust that speaker, based on what you said. Congrats on the new Osteo high!
I see that 35 senators voted against the resolution to avoid a government shutdown today, including Rubio and Rick Scott from FL, Ted Cruz from TX, Portman from OH, and both of the ones from TN.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.

There is no Sen.Cotton from AZ.
I keep wondering if Sinema is going to make a run for President as a Republican. She sure is not much use as a Dem.think she thinks the party has to elect her to avoid another Rep. Grrrrr
Ordering stuff now when I can before shipping gets bad. ordered a new toaster last night. Tired of overdone on one side. NYT has a dept. allied Wirecutter that is like Consumer Reports. They said basically paying more for a toaster is useless unless you want a tone of features and maybe not then.they are good for five years if you are lucky because heating elements are made cheaply these days and damaged by even shaking crumbs out. They recommend the plastic Cuisinart for $29. I like that one because you do not burn fingers on it.
Then sent to Orvis for a good reflective dog leash with name and number in it. DH walks early as sun rises and I often walk after sunset.
Then sent to Vt Countrt store for a good light weight German blanket for DZh's bed.
nice day here. Got car oil change and AC clean out and maintenanceā¦smells like cleaner for a while. Yuck. Shocking how many new cars there are not on that lot. We ran out way early to drop it off to be back in time for cleaning lady, unfortunately I had a bad sleep night.
while she was here, I ought up on some pruning d left a big bag for the yard guys tomorrow. They come every two weeks mainly for the front.
Picked up TJs stuff on the way home with filet for dinner because of mr. not eating most carbs, we share one a d freeze one. $31. A pound? Holy cow. (Pun intended). His diet is becoming a PIA since there is no take out and I get stuck cooking until Oct 12. He does not cook. He says oh, I can just have a couple WASA crisps with laughing cow for supperā¦. he has lost six this week.
so tired I skipped dropping off archive stuff at museum and picking up library book until Sat.

Linda, oops, I fixed it! I misread the state abbreviation on that one. Looks like yours didn't vote against the resolution. You did a lot today! That is a pain if you're the one cooking. It always amazes me how fast men can lose weight.

Kathy, both senators from TN voting against the resolution is no surprise. If they had voted yes, I would have been shocked. Let's just say they don't play well with others and are pretty much there just for Fox sound bites, especially the former beauty queen. I have come really close to sending each of them an email telling them what I think of them but they wouldn't get it. They are both so frigging arrogant. The high pressure system off the coast makes sense on how the storms are staying out to sea.
I get notifications from Wirecutter, Linda, and there stuff is solid. We have a Cuisinart toaster (metal, not plastic) that we have had for about 10 years and it's been a good one. It has wide enough slots that we can do waffles and bagels in addition to any size toast we want. Dale cuts his homemade bread pretty thick and it even accommodates that. I've seen those leashes on Orvis. We had a reflective one (no ID info) for Phoebe when she and Dale used to walk early at the old house and it was good to have. I got a "we want to buy your car" from the dealership I go to and looked at their inventory to see what they had in stock and their inventory was way low. If I traded, it would probably be for a Crosstrek instead of a Legacy, but they have no Legacies and very few Crosstreks. Very unusual for a large dealership. Yowzer on the cost of that filet! Sometimes I forget how much we save not having to buy meat for anyone but Arya. Any word when you might be returning to the museum to volunteer? I can see Sinema thinking she could run for president. And, I've thought for a while that she is a DINO.

DSIL leased a Ford Escape three years ago, decided to buy. It is worth 3000 more than when she leased it!
the toaster does bagels, defrosts, reheats and has wide slots.
no word on museum in sight.
DH decided I needed a day off from cooking. He is getting a take out salad and I get pasta.

.Been feeling crummy ..stomach, head, sinuses. Better after dinner, but when I went to pick something up off the lawn, got nailed in three places on hand by fire ants, then mosquitoes twice on arm and twice on leg while waiting for dog to do his thing. I usually dab on Vicks at night, but this was daylight! county has a lot of West Nile now, ten deaths. They are only out in dark.
early to bed
