How do you signal to yourself that your eating is over and you’re not going to have anymore?

At home I weigh and measure my portions so when the food runs out I'm done. When I'm eating away from home at a restaurant I usually plan on eating half of the entree and make a mark in the food so I know when to stop. I can still end up negotiating with myself on when to stop. When eating at friends it is usually self serve so I work at serving myself a reasonable portion. If I overserve myself I feel the need to eat all the food on my plate since I served myself.

Put the dishes away. Off the table, or more often in my case, take the tray into the kitchen, put dishes in the sink. Eating out, eh, I am flexible then. If I love what I'm having I may eat more than is prudent, but if not I'll let it go. I will often have dessert so I want to leave room for that. I don't really stuff myself anymore at least.

How do you signal to yourself that your eating is over and you’re not going to have anymore? * The best way for me to eat reasonable amounts of food to maintain goal is to pre track everyday including every BLT! I only take the amount I pre tracked the night before. Sometimes I'm still hungry when done eating but find if I wait a few minutes I usually find I don't need more food. It's working great for me to maintain my weight at goal!
When my kids come home that's another story but I am working on that and need to make sure I pre track and stick with it like I do at home and not use it as a free for all.
It also helps to monitor all the food I eat by including so many servings of each food group as it provides me with around 1200 calories a day, I have to get my food groups in before eating sugar, junk food or processed foods so this prevents me from eating more, especially foods that are not whole foods.

When I preplan it’s easier to know what a serving is. If I wing it, I tend to eat too many different things and snack.

Not sure? I usually put on my plate what I plan to eat, eat it, and stop. I pre-track and know the points and that is what i eat.

At home everything I consume is weighed, measured and tracked. When I’m eating out it’s dicey. But even then, there are times when I get to a point where I feel the need to take a deep breath, kind of like a sigh? When that happens I am usually done eating. I say usually because if there’s only a bite left and it’s still tasting really good I’ll finish. Otherwise, I’ll take it home or put it away for another time.
