One article I read suggested not only tracking your food and drink but also tracking what you are doing while you are eating/or decide to eat, and how you feel while you are eating, and how you feel afterwards. What do you think of this idea and how do you see it helping you?

I think this is a great idea and if I organized myself to do it I can see it improving my eating so I don't overeat as much. Anything that makes me aware of the mental process involved in the eating. This is like Beck where she wants you to be aware of your thoughts before you decide to eat.

I have seen this suggestion in the past BUT think it would take up a lot of time? I know it would make me more aware before, during and after but doubt I would actually do it.

* Good idea but to time consuming.
I looked at the Mayo Clinic Diet book and one of their habits to break is no TV while eating and only as much TV time you spend watching TV as you do exercising. That applies for any screen time like phones, computers etc. They feel you should only have one TV in your house. Their reason for this is because watching TV (or screen time) contributes to increased weight, you aren't moving and chances are you are sipping or nibbling on something. I've considered doing this but this would be difficult. Maybe do one meal a day instead of a whole day.
How many of you use screen time when eating? * I'm guilty of watching TV all day.
Question for my DD, I'm looking for a good free online site to track your food, what do you ladies use and why do you use it?

This is the topic for WW this week. It’s time consuming initially but like anything else, once it becomes a habit it’s not really a problem. I guess it’s based on your level of comfort with where you are in your personal goals. I used to be a late night snacker. I figured out what was causing it and found a way to stop. So I’m proof that self awareness helps although I don’t feel a need to add this task to my regimen at this time. mac I watch tv while I’m eating and sometimes while I’m exercising . 😁

luvvinlife, Yes, it's the WW weekly on virtuals, how satisfied are you with your eating patterns? This encourages me to think about Becks theory no standing while eating, Mayo Clinic no watching TV while eating. This encourages me to work on some of my eating patterns.

mac, I often have the TV on while I'm eating but is more for background noise, not shows I'm invested in watching. I use "myfitnesspal.com," free version. It works for me. Sometimes you have to add foods to the database but they have an okay customer-entries food database. You can also make up meals if you have meals you eat all of the time, like having the same thing for breakfast.

I think it makes total sense and I think I will try to recall how I felt at the end of the day when I journal. But keep it simple. I just went through a summer of sometimes mindless eating and am trying to get back to good habits. Without deliberate mindfulness, I tend to ignore best practices. But I understand eating well is not willpower, but planning. mac,my husband and I also use MFP. It’s tedious at first, but like everything, becomes easier with use.
