Good morning and happy new week to all. I hope and pray that everyone has a very good, satisfying, and productive week.
I don't think I got here yesterday and I don't really know why. It wasn't a real busy day. I did make 3 or 4 hats over the weekend but didn't get anything else made or completed.I'm trying to use up some of my older yarn which mostly has all be discontinued over the years and it's fun to see the brands. People are always asking in the crochet groups if old yarn is still good. All mine is just fine and some is really old. I think a lot of it was donated to the Caps for Kids group by people that had grandmothers pass away and they donated her yarn. Some also is yarn I bought many years ago and it's fun to see the clearance prices as well as the original price on the still in place price sticker.
CJ, That is a very pretty quilt and your hand quilting stitches look great. I love the colors and how you placed them
I have a few things to get done this week with errands to run and house to clean. I want to start my fall house cleaning. Have to do bills today and get a few things ready to mail. We're planning a little day trip later this month and I'd like to get all the house done before then. I'd also like to get a little outdoor painting done so I'll have to set aside a day for that this week or next.

Hey, Ruth, good to see you here. Yes its that time of year in which we have to start thinking about getting the house ready for winter… so that little paint job sounds like its the right thing to do. I know its such a hoot to see older prices for crafting supplies. My mom (who was a bit of a hoarder) must have had 10 packages of machine needles, all of which were under a dollar in price. They are worth 10 times that now. I know they say old yarn goes bad, but the synthetic stuff?? Not sure. I have plenty of old yarn, and it seems just fine. What do you do for fall house cleaning? Guess I ought to start that also, at least getting the windows done as they cannot be cleaned in the dead of winter. Houses are a lot of work. Glad you were able to get some hats completed over the weekend. A nice feeling of accomplishment. Do you have enough hats done to donate now?
Off to Bible study in a little bit….we had some on and off rain today so I never got out for a walk. I did walk inside the house however.
At some point this week I need to head to Joanns and get buttons for the Prarie point ornaments. Now that I have one almost done, I am excited about the project and want to work on more.
Happy Monday….hope everyone has a good week. Ginny

Ginny, you're doing the ones made by the woman with the horribly long video right? I have to go back there and look again because I didn't look closely when I was there. All I remember is that they looked complicated. I know your's will be beautiful and the person that you're making it for is going to love them. Yep I have things like that too...needles that is ..with old price stickers. It's so funny. Sorry you weren't able to get your walk in outdoors. And right, I think windows are something that have to be done before winter or else you have to wait for spring to get here. Yes I have plenty of hats. I have one plastic trash bag stuffed and some in another. I never counted them so I'm not sure how many it is. I wish we still had a Joann's here. I hope you have an interesting Bible study.
Fall cleaning I like to take everything out of cabinets, etc and clean the shelves, move stove and fridge, do the oven, etc. Clear away all this dust that's accumulated before people start to think that I'm planning on growing vegetables inside my house. I started the bedroom today but then dh decided to take a nap. He told me to go ahead and work in there anyway but I was tired already from what I had accomplished before he came in for his nap.Since Facebook was down most of the day I had to spend time after it came back looking at the crochet groups for new patterns. I really, really need to stop doing that. After that though I got my two prayer reminder buddies done for the two youngest grandchildren. I added a happy face so that didn't look "blah" or scary. They're cute and very easy to make. Then you print out a card telling what they are and a verse of scripture talking about prayer but since I don't have a printer I'll just write it out.
Get a good rest everyone...oh I did get my bills done too. Unusual for me to get so much done in one day.

Hello Everyone Ruth - Good luck with getting your cleaning done and I hope you can get to those other things too. I'm glad to hear your got a lot done yesterday, it's always a relief to be done with bills and paperwork. Ginny - Hope you get a few dry days this week and that you can get to JoAnn's to get the buttons you need. Phyl - Sorry to hear you continue to have health problems. Hope you can find a nice way to celebrate your upcoming anniversary. Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's been warm and humid here for the last few days. I'm hoping to get some cooler and drier weather again. The house heated up again pretty quickly, but now that I don't have the air conditioners in place I have to use fans for some cooling. Pat Sloan's new quilt along "Happy Everything" started yesterday. This quilt is based on the different holidays throughout the year and you have to buy her book to get the patterns. I didn't mind supporting her by buying the book because she offers so many quilt projects for free. The first block is a heart that is 16.5 by 18.5 inches and I decided to do mine in red and white fabrics. I want my quilt blocks for this quilt to have colors that are associated with the holidays they represent. That's easier for me than trying to make something totally scrappy. I'm also working on another hand quilting project. This one is a small 9 Patch doll quilt so it should be quick to get done. Take care everyone!

Ok - there you go….my first prarie point ornament. The colors appear a bit off, cannot do anything about that. I selected a button from what I had here, its not attached…..and I know I have to go to Joanns to pick up more buttons. Yes I used the horrific instructions posted by the woman with the red floral dress. Her directions are actually pretty good, but she is so verbose and her camera man talks too much.
Ruth, when you get done at your house, please come clean mine. Sounds like a lot of work, but stuff that I know I have to take care of also. Sounds like you have a lot of hats made! Many to donate and heads that will be kept warm. Good
Phyl, indeed a good idea to get a diagnosis to make sure you get the right brace for your back. So sorry your free motion class has been cancelled- better safe then sorry. And an early happy anniversary to you and your husband! 59 years…..ya think you will keep him? the 9 patch doll quilt, are you just starting that now, or is that something that you have been working on before?
Yes, its been a bit warmer and humid here….hoping for cooler temps soon. Have a good night all Ginny
CJ-think using red and white fabrics for that first quilt block is perfect and will look great.

CJ, It's heated up here too. We haven't used the air conditioner but it's still in the window so we'll have to take that our very soonn. The new quilt by Pat Sloan sounds as if it's going to be a great one. I agree that colors usually associated with the particular holiday is a good choice.
Phyl, I'm sorry to hear that your health problems have not been solved. Have you been able to see the gastroenterologist yet. Do the doctors feel that your platelet level is where it will be safe for you to have surgery. I just found out the other day that the husband of my ddil's sister has the same thing. His platelet level started out at 1.6 million!! They have him on a couple chemo drugs and he's feeling very sick. His brother, who is older also has this.
Ginny, wow that ornament is beautiful. And what a great choice of button. It really works. You you sure chose some great fabric.
Well I've been busy all day so far and just put a pot of spaghetti sauce on to simmer. I'll put half of it in the freezer. One of the things I did today was go to the mailbox. I don't remember how long it's been since I was there but there was a LOT of mail. 99% of it was junk.It took me about a half hour to open all those evelopes and cut the addresses off.

I will see my onacologist on the `13th. when I talk to his nurse a few weeks ago,she said, he said I was in a safe zone. will find out what he says about surgery.
I am surprised they did not find his high platelet count sooner, shows up in a routine blood test if they order it along with other test. mine were heading for 1,0000,they got me into him right away.this was in oh I MARCH 2019,it has taken this long to get the count down with my med. phyl

Phyl, he was having a lot of weird symptoms like headaches all day, numbness in his arm. His memory was bad...he would try to go somewhere and forget where he was headed. He forgot his boss' name and he's worked for this boss for years. They said he had brain swelling from the platelets being so high. He hadn't seen a doctor in a long time and even after he had all these symptoms he wouldn't go because his father had just died of complicatons of Parkinson's and he was afraid that's what he had despite the fact that his brother had this high platelet problem. Now the brother has decided not to take meds anymore and he's not much older than Brett. They haven't had the success with the meds that you've had.I think the brother's has changed into something else. They probably have a whole different thing than you, now that I think about it. In their case is not just essential thrombocytosis. He hadn't seen a doctor in a few years so didn't have routine blood tests. Sorry for the confusion. It is a mutation of the Jak2 gene but lead to something else as it sometimes does in young people. I'm really happy to hear that you're now in the safe zone.
Going out today for some errands and probably again tomorrow for shopping. Two days in a row...blah!

Hi. RUTH,I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT HI,yes I have the e.t. for me having a good internist in my corner we may have caught it in time before it got worse.
All I Did was write the number down and when I saw him ,he started writing out orders for the lab. I was to get my mamo,go the lab and do not leave the building till lab work was done.this was on a FRIDAY.
he called that afternoon, hip surgery for the right hip got canceled and by WEDNESDAY I was at the oncologist room getting a bone marrow test. my doctor tracked down DR. PETE over the weekend and told "get this woman in there.
dr. PETE moved to Madison now,and I have DR.PEARSON, HE THINKS WE CAUGHT IT IN TIME AND MY CONDITION MAY NOT GET WORSE. I know it can go into more type of a blood cancer and lukemina.
WHEN he told me that I THOUGHT WELL AGE,LIFE, WE DON'T KNOW WHERE IT WILL TAKE US,THINGS COULD CHANGE. THE REST IS UP TO MY LORD.
I DO NOT KNOW IT THIS MUTATION can be inheariate or just born with it. my dad was a ciagar smoker, drinker, died of a stroke in the brain stem. could he have had iT? PHYL

Phyl - Don has always sounded like a wonderful husband, a real keeper!!! I do remember your story about how your high platelet counts were discovered and its such a blessing that your medications have worked so very well. Also a blessing that you have been given so many years of marriage with Don!!! I will leave the medical analysis of your condition to Ruth- there might be a genetic component ( as in that type of issue runs in your family) but I do not think that your Dad’s bad habits contributed to you having this problem. You and Ruth are so right, you have to stay on top of your health….go for blood tests at decent intervals. There are so many conditions which are very treatable if caught early. Did you get back to the mat you are making as a gift for your friend?
Ruth, more errands and shopping? Yuck! That is a lot of being out for you…bet you are happy to have that behind you and I hope you can stay home now. Were you able to accomplish all that you wanted to? I so appreciate your information and opinion on medical issues. Sometimes its hard to figure out the truth from all the information that is out there…nice to know someone who has practical experience and knowledge like you do.
Thought of you last night Ruth. You had mentioned moving the stove to clean under it. Well, as I was getting ready for bed, I went back into the kitchen, and sure enough the female cat (an old kitten) was in her hunting pose in front of the stove. She is an excellent hunter….and as she refused to leave her hunting post, I decided to move the stove. Both Ds and I have checked - we did not see any evidence of a mouse. I set two traps, but know from previous experience that my 4 legged furry mouse trap is a much more effective than an mechanical trap.
Got to work on my embroidery this am. Think I sort of got DGD #2 a bit interested in embroidery, although she is way too young for it. She found an embroidery hoop that Dd had around the house (loose in the garage) and asked what it was for. Fortunately I had my embroidery with me, so I took it out to show her. I might see if I find a SIMPLE embroidery project in a design that she likes. Stop laughing….I know I do not need another project and know that if I make something for her, that I have to make something for the other grandkids.
Hope everyone had a good day.
Ginny

Almost forgot….. last night a neighbors facebook account was hacked. I got what appeared as a private message from her saying that she had had a procedure on her ears and could not hear (while she was healing) and that she wanted to know how I was. I responded ok- and wanted to know how she was healing. Then the response was that she had just gotten a check for $150,000 and it was from some federal program for covid relief…..and was money that did not need to be paid back ever (by this time, I strongly suspected a scam). I gave away no information….and then the “person”told me to text a phone #…..and apply with instant approval. (Right ). By then I knew it was a hoax….and they also messaged me at 1 am to see if I was accepting the offer. I did not respond…but did personally contact my neighbor to confirm that it is a scam. With all that is in the news, I do not think that facebook will do a darned thing about it nor will they care. I post this as a cautionary note to each of you.

Well Phyl, I'm glad they caught yours in time. These young men were told that it would be probably 20 years before their condition turned to leukemia but my ddil and her sister don't know much about medical things so my ddil didn't have many details and didn't know the name of the meds he is taking. I didn't know that you had a bone marrow test. I'm glad to hear that because I know of one woman who has the same thing and her doctor didn't do a bone marrow. Having a bone marrow test is essential for an accurate diagnosis.
