Good Monday Morning Canners, I played catch up just now. As always I am impressed with your physical and mental challenges to stay fit and healthy. Well done! Our beach trip was glorious with perfect weather and amenities- it WAS relaxing! Work this week is manageable and I have some gal pals in the mix. Larry is having an assessment on Weds and that is a stressor for him. We will see, but I WILL be mindful that numb eating does not numb and does not help- me. My action plan for this week- smart and controlled portions walking and more vigorous add ons Grateful (Nora is walking! Will see her the weekend of 10/23) and appreciative of my good health and good fortunes How about you?

Good Morning!!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Sally thank you so much for starting us out. I am so very glad that you had a glorious beach trip that was relaxing. You so deserved it. I think that is a great action plan!
I must confess that I did not go back and read Sunday's entries. I hope that Nat is still on cloud nine from vacation. I hope Carol found a new path. I hope Jan is making new critter friends.
Yes I did: take yesterday off from law. In the morning I did the yard. In the afternoon a very long walk in Austin where the hikers had to compete with the ACL concert attendees for the trail. Lots of scantily clad coeds. I am glad I did not have my friend with me -- he would have been out of control. I also did healthy supermarket run and lots of food prep.
Yes I can: well I have already started a load of wash. Planning for home abs, admin stuff, law. Lots of law. Hopefully with a refreshed brain. Part of my adulting is taking baby steps toward assisting Dad with probate matters while he is still sharp enough to be part of the team. Difficult conversation on that topic yesterday. I guess the self help books are helping although I way prefer fiction!
Okay adulting begins -- emails!!
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Morning!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
I hope everyone is well, healthy, and happy.
Yes I did: home abs, walking breaks, my toughest toning class, and then reward myself with a nice swim. A huge load of wash done. I enjoyed tending to the clothesline with birds singing to me. Lots of law done.
Today much adulting in store. Oil change and inspection this morning after doing chores around here. This afternoon law and a good but more moderate toning class tonight. First step of adulting is to get dressed . . . home abs and more fun!! Gorgeous morning.
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Happy Tuesday. Wow, what wild weather we had last night. All sat in the living room by the picture window that views the bay and downtown and watched and listened to the lightning and thunder rumble. In my 65years in S.D. I have never seen so much lightning. At one point I saw a huge flame and smoke down by the bay and heard later it was a couple of palm trees struck by lightning. Everything is so dry here I am not surprised they went up like a torch. And the best thing about the storm was...all my water barrels are full! Rain followed lightning. First radiation appt is on Thursday so a bit nervous about that but feeling confident otherwise. I'm cooking too much but trying to watch portions. Still have to make 10 dozen or more cookies for that memorial and will start putting together some of the dough on Wednesday. Lucky I have SIL to help. Sally: Picturing you with Nora walking brings a smile to my face. Hang in there. Nat: Ah, we did miss you girl. Having a retirement date in mind helps a lot I know. Glad Maui gave you some stress relief. Janet: I can't imagine you retired for even 3 hours. LOL You are such a high energy person. Yes, enjoy the Fall weather. Nice to have afternoons to work in the garden that are not scorchers. I spent yesterday cleaning off the potting table and today after the storm, it's covered in leaves again. As you know, that is how garden chores are...never done. Carol: You must be busy making music, singing, dancing, hiking those wild canals. Hugs to All, Jan

Time flies. I was surprised to see that I hadn’t posted in several days!
DBF decided Saturday was the best chance, weather-wise, for a bike ride so we went about 21 miles along the canal. It was a beautiful day and we did have a tailwind most of the time. But we started the ride late afternoon and, with days getting shorter, had to pedal hard to make it before dark. Even so, we didn’t finish until half hour after sunset. I was a bit tired afterwards, took it easy on Sunday. Not sleeping well again. Did grocery shopping yesterday, cello choir (tired there, too.). Had my hair colored this afternoon then met a gal pal for a very late lunch at Panera. Made the mistake of having a big bagel, yummy but holy smokes, waaaay too many points. Oh well. Maybe if I get more sleep I will think clearly, LOL!
Ok, here I go to wind down.
Be well! Carol

Good Morning!!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Jan cooking is great comfort to me when I am stressed. This is a scary time for you. Prayers continue. Natural that you would turn to that. I am trying to transition into making healthy things instead of high calorie ones but it just is not the same somehow . . . I do give a whole lot away. That storm sounds insane and like tornado alley (Missouri, Texas etc) not sunny Cali! Yardwork is well, never done.
Carol that bike ride sounds splendid. I hope you got a good night's sleep last night. I struggle so much with that myself. I have slept the last couple nights and it feels lovely. I function so much better!
Yes I did: get my car inspected/serviced. I had been dreading that since before I set the appointment. I am so not a mechanic. It was expensive because I go to the dealer but I can bring my laptop and work there so I pay extra for comfort. I also got in (way too many) walking breaks. Law. Home abs. Chores. Rowing machine, weight class, and a lovely swim. A difficult conversation with Dad surrounding probate issues (preplanning) from the parking lot of the car dealership. I did not dare tell him what I paid the dealer to service the car -- he would have exploded. Prices higher here and higher from when he remembers them (the seventies). Then some cardio, my toning class, and a heavenly swim.
Yes I can: figure out how to update my registration info on 'puter (or might end up mailing it). Law. Home abs. Walking breaks. Law. Mail. Tonight: spinning class and outdoor concert.
I guess step one is check my email, snail mail, and get dressed somewhere in there . . .
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Wednesday Afternoon, positive peeps 🐥🐥!
Janet - I like the new avatar photo! Nice! Also, yay for getting car serviced. I hear you on the cost of convenience. I am feeling "sticker shock" for so many things these days...I guess I still long for the prices of long ago, too.
Jan - Yay for full rain barrels! I have been fortunate here to have had enough rain that I haven't had to water the outdoor plants much this summer. Usually I kill a few outdoor plants with neglect, LOL. I am a little worried about how my indoor plants will do when we go away for a few days soon. No one to spritz them, LOL!
Waves & smiles to Nat and Sally!
Yes I DID: --enjoy getting my hair done yesterday. Relaxing. --get coffee with a gal pal after my hair appt. It turned into a 2 hour event, LOL! Alas, I indulged in a huge bagel....could not believe how many points, shoulda looked it up before I bought it. Gulp! --do 2 circuit classes today, one in the a.m., one this afternoon.
Yes I can: --stay calm, go with the flow. And get enough sleep!
Be well! Carol

Happy Wednesday Evening.
Our busy day started at 8 am taking the truck in to be serviced, then grocery shop on the way home. Lucky I had some help with that. Saw one of my work buddies at the store and she is retiring Nov.30th. It will be so much easier to get together for lunches when only one of the ladies in this particular tribe will be working. I miss these friends. Decided today to put together the cookie dough for 6 of the 10 dozen cookies I am baking for my Sweetie's cousin's son's Memorial. Then I will just bake them off Friday night, or my SIL can. Worked in the garden doing clean-up after that storm, sweeping, raking, and trimming back. Our Swee-pea rabbit has come every day since the neighbors quit jack-hammering. And a huge "murder" of crows was sweeping the sky at twilight. Scary. Reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. LOL. I am just so happy we got rain. Things are greening up already.
Janet: I love your new photo! You look all summery. Must do that myself since I am back to blonde. Your Dad is so lucky to have you taking care of things, or trying. Just be patient because the oldsters still need to feel important and in control. Watching the news about Arlington shooting this morning after my Cousin who lives there texted. I am glad it ended the way it did. How do all these kids get guns?
Carol: Big Bagel...FIDO. I find my resolve is lessened when I'm tired. Don't you? Glad you had a great bike-ride and a color and cut at the hair salon. Sending a night of good sleep to you and Janet!
Sally: Nora is just the sweetest thing. Can you believe how fast they grow? Take care of you my friend.
Nat: Hope your first week back went ok. Hang in there, Dec isn't that far away.
Tomorrow Day One of radiation for me. I got this.
Sweet Dreams, Jan

Good Morning!! love, light, blessings, and good health.
Thanks to everyone on photo comments, much more recent than the last one -- maybe from May of this year. I thought it was time for a change.
Jan hope all went well. Sending prayers. I have heard nothing about an Arlington shooting? I scanned the headlines and my daily email from the NYT. Wow. I love crows, bunnies, absence of jackhammers, cookies and gal pals.
Carol getting out hair done, pedicures, etc -- good for the soul and the body. Lovely. Events with gal pals -- lovely as well. I am sure that the 2 circuit classes -- morning and evening did well for the bagel. Sleep, hope you got some. Me, not so much.
Yes I did: home abs, way too many walking breaks (I walk while on the phone and way too many phone calls). Spinning class. Concert. Lost my favorite Halloween earring at last night's outdoor concert darn it. Cheap and Avon but have not found a local Avon lady to replace it. Spinning class before the concert. Admin stuff, my newsletter, and law. Had to say no to a new job and one of my favorite clients is unhappy with me but if I cannot do it I cannot do it.
Yes I can: home abs. Law. Reasonable walking breaks. Tonight toning class with weights and a relaxing swim. Start with responding to emails, getting dressed, snail mail . . . home abs. Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Thursday morning, positive peeps 🐣🐣!
Jan - GL with a smooth treatment tomorrow...I'll be sending you healing energy all day✨. I like the crows, they love to hang out in the trees near Old House, which is not too far from a cemetery (yes, they do hang out there, LOL). When I was working downtown on the 6th floor, I would gaze out the window of the break room and see the flocks of various birds flying back to their roosts late in the afternoons. It was reassuring somehow, that ritual.
Janet - yay for setting necessary limits, even though it's hard to say no. Enjoy your swim!
Yes I DID: --declutter enough to find some missing paperwork, LOL --not get enough sleep, really need to wind down a little earlier....I CAN do this --Enjoy Cardio Mix and Gentle Stretch zooms this a.m., new favorites
Yes I CAN: --prepare for 🎻 lesson --prepare for a few days vacay coming soon
Be well! Carol

Good Morning!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Jan hope all went well. Sending prayers and healing energy.
Carol what a beautiful/powerful image. Crows, cemetery in October. I wish you could put out some pumpkins -- the residents of the cemetery that have not moved on would love it. I hope you made much progress decluttering and found lost paperwork. Cardio plus gentle stretching sounds like the perfect recipe for a good night's sleep. Sometimes Valerian Root is working for me. Melatonin has not been working lately.
Yes I did: I finally got a handle on this legal project I have been spinning my wheels on. Home abs. Walking breaks. Toning class and then yard work instead of swim. My friend volunteered to help. Whenever I get an offer of help with that yard I drop everything and take it. This morning a little yard (yard abs), spinning class, and swim. Start with big girl pants check mail. I have already dealt with email. Mom is trying to get a COVID test in Saint Louis which can be challenging if you do not have a car and do not drive. She has been vaccinated and is cautious but numbers in Missouri have been nuts. It could also be the flu. It has been difficult being so far away. Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Morning!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
I hope everyone is well, healthy, happy, serene, and prosperous.
I am okay. Disappointed by Netflix -- the series we picked because we thought upbeat and positive turned into a horror movie! Midnight Mass. Nightmares last night. Yes I did: start mowing, spin, swim, walking breaks, law, and stay OP. Mom finally got her test but is now thinking it is a horrible reaction to flu vaccine. Not sure when results arrive. My spinning instructor brought me fresh eggs from her chickens. They are the best eggs I have ever, ever had.
I am finally making progress on that big law project. Slow progress but progress.
Yes I can: finish mow, swim, law, Mass, and then tonight is some shopping. Numbers down a bit and I am going to try to buy some new shorts while wearing a good mask. I have been living in shorts since I blew my knee out over two years ago and they are all in pretty bad shape. Besides since I lost that weight some are very baggy and some actually are falling off. My friend has boxing night at friend's house. (they are watching it, not fighting each other)
Starting with chores -- hang out wash, clean kitchen, start mowing!!!
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Saturday morning positive peeps! I apparently did not get in here all week but here I am. I know I've missed out on things. Prayers Jan with your first radiation yesterday. I missed out on what is being radiated but my prayers for good healing, you've got this!
Janet I love your new pic. I was going to ask if something happened with your mother as I scanned this weeks posts about probate. Hoping your mom just has a slight reaction and nothing serious.
Sally, Nora is walking?? LOL time flies! Glad you enjoyed some beach time. It really is therapy!
Carol, enjoy some vacay time. I'm with you on the sleeping issues. I still want to try some melatonin and see if that will help me. You are active enough you'd think your body would be tired enough to sleep.
So the week started off crazy. Monday was over the top and our high with # of crisis calls to deal with. The attitude in the office is a bit stressed with management as things are just not moving fast enough to get at least one job filled. It's been a month and we're still waiting on a bid list to hire someone. "Well HR is short staffed and everyone is in the same boat, yada yada....meanwhile expect us to be the only clinic able to take these first calls. When only 2 people left in the office in the later afternoon (me covering front desk with in person patients) and we have potential of 6 lines, the appointment center calls and it rings and rings, they hang up and immediately call back. I had one patient laughing that I was trying to transfer to a therapist. I said Hold on I can't transfer your call until this phone stops ringing LOL. She wasn't in true crisis. It's frustrating! But Jan you're in my head, only way out is way through. And exposure therapy is what I'm doing. The more I've had to deal with things with a limited amount of coworkers, the better I get at letting things go and not stressing. Only one person. Let it ring!!
Anyway, for today Yes I CAN: Open my WW app and track my food (it's been too long). Pay attention to my food choices. Get my 10k steps in!
Waves to all! Nat

Oh and on the mom front. I spent Mon/Tues nights down there and stayed on the couch close to mom so dad could get some sleep in his bed. She's doing much better (I told you she fell?) but needs more precautions taken so it doesn't happen again. So she needs a little assistance with her bathroom trips. Dad is an angel. I had to come home Wed night so I could get up very early and get to the high desert (opposite direction off mountain than to work) so I could attend a union meeting to vote for strike authorization. Doing my part! Stayed back down on Thurs night. I may be doing that again next week. It sure helps on the gas situation and tiring drive daily.
Talked again with hubby last night and after venting my happenings at work this week, he said I think you really need to put in for 12/1 retirement. We can make it work. I really don't want to do a winter drive again either.
End of update!!
