Hail to Kale 🥬 It’s National Kale Day.
I won’t be celebrating. 🤢 Kale makes me sad 😢.
HVAC tech was here to do a furnace checkup. All systems go. We don’t need it yet. The regular guy, Mike, retired. Now we have a young whippersnapper of 36.
Have a good Hump Day 🐪

Thanks for the start, Chele. Happy National Kale Day. I eat a lot of it and it's on the menu for dinner. I often put whatever I'm eating on a bed of kale. Sorry that kale makes you sad. I grow my own and it's even sweeter after frosts and freezes. The baby kale is great because it's so tender. Congrats on the furnace being declared healthy. I hope Mike is enjoying his retirement and the whippersnapper works out for you. Have you been watching 9-1-1? We still have at least one hummer as of a little while ago. We haven't had any house finches at the feeder, which is unusual, so one of the tufted titmouses (titmice??) has taken it upon himself to ensure that the doves who scroundge off the deck, are well fed. He is apparently looking for a certain kind of seed and keeps digging until he finds it. No wonder the feeder is emptying so quickly these days.
Kathy, I had never given it much thought, but you're right about how subjective the college rankings are. And, it's all college sports, not just football. The "power rankings" done later in the season make a little more sense because they are ranked by strength of schedule going into bowl games and playoffs. Sometimes I wish we followed fewer sports. The baseball season is so long that women's basketball regular season is still in swing when spring training begins and the World Series ends the same day the Lady Vols play their first exhibition game of the season. And football season is tucked in there. Are you getting any rain? We got another 1/2" overnight and into this morning, but it's just cloudy now. We'll have more starting tonight and I'll probably have it on my entire drive tomorrow. I heard from DSIL last night about what they want to do while they are in the area. If they go to Cades Cove on Monday, I'll probablyl go with them. I haven't been there for a while. It would be awesome to see some elk. It's early enough that they shouldn't have migrated back to the NC side yet.
How is covid going there, Liz? Our case count seems to be going down, but deaths are still rising and I'm not sure they are posting accurate counts on the state covid website.
Linda, I'm glad the soup was good. Greasy probably wouldn't be good on your tummy right now. Did you break down and have cinnamon toast? That was a biggie at GM's house. She always had a container of cinnamon and sugar on the table. You would toast the white (of course!) bread, spread on butter (not margarine) and top it with lots of cinnamon and sugar. I can still taste it. Food City is bad about not having many registers open. Several registers were open at both Whole Foods and Ingles on Monday, but Food City had 2 registers open and at least 3 or 4 people in each lane. It looks like you have an NBC station, as we do, affected by a dispute with Dish and they may go dark this evening for Dish customers. This is one of those times I wish we had cable available. But that also happens with cable companies.
I think KVUE is part of the same group that our NBC station is, Becky, and I think you do have Dish. I hate when they have these disputes. Hope things are going well for you and the jewelry business.
Denise, how are things going with you?
The arm still hurts and I'm tired today. I also have a headache (rare for me), which could be the vaccine or the weather. I seem to be keeping it at bay with turmeric capsules, which probably wouldn't be the case if it was weather related. I need to get some energy back before going to Osteo tomorrow. I did manage to do half an hour on the rowing machine this morning and that wore me down a bit more.

Karen, I hope the headache dissipates altogether. I am not surprised you are fatigued after the booster. We saw a downy woodpecker in the ash tree yesterday, but now there are 3 neighborhood cats stalking the yards and I am afraid they may keep the birds away. I saw the tabby streaking across the yard this afternoon.
Linda, I just don’t like the kale flavor and texture. I hope you are headache free and the knees are good today.
Kathy, have you been going to the stores or are you still getting delivery? Do you ever use Door Dash for takeout? It is way too expensive in our area to be worth the delivery fee.
Liz, I hope the week is not too hectic.
Becky, how are you doing?

Chele, no kale here either. I'm okay with it if it's mixed in with enough other stuff. We've mainly been doing grocery delivery, but have picked up takeout. I think Door Dash is really expensive here too. I hope those cats move on. Karen, are there other college sports besides football without a full playoff? It's frustrating when a team like UCF goes undefeated and wins their conference championship, but is left out of the playoffs. I think in basketball and most of the other sports if they win their conference championship, they get a playoff berth. I thought I heard some talk on them expanding the football playoffs, so it's probably heading that way too. Hope you get to see some elk! No rain here. Be careful on the wet roads. Hope the side effects wear off quickly.
Waving to everyone. Have a good evening.
