Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Joyce, hope you had a good day at work.
Martha, that is good that you have a place to stay in Spokane if you decide to visit with your brother. Do your brother and sister also own part of the place? Since you are familiar with the area I’m sure you would enjoy a visit. Sounds like your parents kept a lot of stuff.
Ruth, how was the visit with your doctor? Hope he has a plan for helping you with your back pain.
Bill and I plan to tackle the metal shelf units in the basement today. There are 3 4 foot wide sets of shelves. Altogether there are 15 shelves, 13 of the shelves have our Christmas decorations. We have way too many but Bill isn’t ready to part with a lot of them. This year I hope to fill at least 3 of the tubs with things we don’t use and in the future and not even open those tubs when we decorate. That’s the plan, I hope I can do it. Once we empty the shelf units we plan on taking them apart because we plan to use them in the new basement. Hopefully it will all go quickly and smoothly.

Decided to not wait until Monday to get hair cut. After lunch, I went & got a shampoo/cut. Now on Monday, I can just get my flu shot & head for home. Groceries bought & library books picked up. I'm planning on staying put for the remainder of the weekend.
Good luck with decreasing Christmas decorations. Don't tell Bill what your plans are or he may decide to go crazy with the decorations.
Dinners this week: Breaded shrimp & roasted vegetables; Lasagna; Beef Pho Soup & grilled cheese sandwiches; leftover Picadillo with hash browns & eggs; Stirfry Vegetables with ground turkey; Brats with tater tots; BBQ pork ribs & kale chips; and Blueberry pancakes. I picked menu items that would use what we already have in freezer. The only new recipe is the Beef Pho Soup.
Hope everyone is doing well. I won't be online Sunday.

Good Saturday evening everyone. I assume Joy worked today. Hope it was a good day. I love the idea of you FaceTiming or having online chats with your friend once she moves. Hope you can keep in touch with Fallon also.
Ok, went to the neurosurgeon Friday morning early. Did NOT sleep well the night before. Didn’t think I was nervous, but guess I was. Anyway, younger doctor, but very nice. I had Stan go in with me, just because I think at our ages it’s nice to have an extra set of ears and eyes. The doctor showed us the MRI results that I had a while ago. There is almost complete closure in 2 spots a couple inches apart in my lower back. He explained if they did surgery what they would do. He explained about steroid injections, acupuncture, and chiropractic. We decided on the steroid injections first and the other 2 also. He said a lot of people get relief from those treatments and won’t need surgery. He seemed to think that at some point I will probably need to have surgery; but he said debilitating pain will be the indicator. And he said I won’t become paralyzed or anything like that. I see him again 6-8 weeks after the injection(s). I have to wait for the pain center to call so I can make that appt. I’m going to try the other 2 treatments at the chiro center where my massage therapist works. If I don’t like her, I’ll find someone else. Never had either one of those therapies, so will be interesting. And I really dislike needles, so I think I’ll take headphones to keep my attention off her doing them. Will let you know when I get an appt for the 3 things.
Dottie, it’s so hard to get rid of Christmas stuff. For years I held on to stuff we used at the other house, even tho we had no place for it here. I found places, but it was never the same. Finally I got rid of a lot of it a couple years ago. But I know there’s still a lot more to get rid of. I agree with Martha, maybe don’t tell Bill what you are doing! Although Stan couldn’t care less about any of it! He’s just not sentimental about much! What did the realtor and lawyer say on Friday?
Martha, how do you like your haircut? I’m with you and Joy on needing a schedule. For life in general as well as cleaning and household chores. I like how you do your menu for the week! I need to do more of that. It would help with weight loss; freezer control; and general headaches of “what are we going to eat tonight?”!!!
Today I got 5 loads of our laundry finished (1 left for tomorrow); dishwasher run & unloaded & re-loaded. Now I need to do some toy pick up. And I brought home a bin of clothing Sawyer has either outgrown or won’t wear so I sorted those. A few things are just going to be donated for a pickup; but I have 2 Target bags of stuff for the gal whose husband is in the military and she has 3 kids under 8; 2 of whom have autism. I asked if she wanted them and she said YES!! So I’ll add the things I have downstairs to go with it and will either see if she or her mom (my former Mary Kay consultant) can pick up or I’ll drop them off.
Tried Mara in little girl panties this morning with plastic pants over them after her bath. 5 min and she wet them and went into the bathroom crying. She told me her pants were wet. Going to try it again tomorrow. Just need her to get so she’ll tell me before she goes.
Ok, my ipad is going so I’ll sign off for tonight. More tomorrow!

Good Sunday morning,
I never seem to catch up after work on Saturdays. We had another nice Saturday. Sales were on the slow side, but 7 vehicles in total were sold. It was a nice day and I just think people are getting out and enjoying our nice fall days.
I was able to check off everything on my Saturday todo list. Allie thought having a list was a great idea and hopes day cashier decides to make one too. I did create a list for my cubicle, tasks are listed by importance and again it will keep me focused.
For at home I have a few different ideas for my todo list. Of course I’ll have my daily reminders to make my bed, do the dishes, etc. I’ll figure out a schedule for dusting, vacuuming, those general housework tasks but I think those will just be on a general list not a checklist. I want to make sure I find time for decluttering, and my project list.
Sundays will become meal prep days. I’ll do grocery shopping on Saturday after work and cook on Sunday. I already made a list of 4 day meals that I will start with. Chili, tacos and taco salad, beef stew, spaghetti with meat sauce, white chicken chili- and I have my 4 containers already in my kitchen cabinet. Thinking ahead I’ll need a light lunch, then dinner Mon-Thurs, just lunch on Friday and breakfast on Saturday since they provide lunch. As crazy as it might sound, going back to work FT will probably help with my weight loss too, no more just sitting and watching tv in the morning /early afternoon, I just won’t have the time. I want to get going to the Y on my schedule too. I’ll start with one day during the week and see how it goes. I plan on putting 20-30 minutes of daily at home exercise or walking on that schedule too. Can you tell I’m excited.
Ruth - sounds like your doctor has a good plan worked out for you and I’m glad to hear that surgery wasn’t the first option. I’m glad he took the time to explain things to you. Prayers for a positive outcome for the injections.
My mom was good at thinning out their Christmas decorations years before they died. I have a small box of what I call Christmas memories and I bring a few items out each year..it isn’t too much, but always a reminder of the wonderful times we had. And I’ve gone through my decorations and just have a minimal amount left too. Now DB and DSIL have a boatload of decorations that they still display every year. She said she has enough ornaments to decorate 3 trees and rotates them every year. I couldn’t be bothered with all of that work. DSIL. Spends a lot of time decorating, but she enjoys it. Me, it’s one day putting everything out, and afterwards only takes one day to put away.
Martha - hope you like your haircut. I have to remember to call my guy and reschedule my appointment to an earlier time.
Dottie - sounds like you have a strategy for those decorations. Even if you don’t toss any, they will be organized.
Looks like a nice day ahead. I’ll get a few more bags of topsoil to spread. The Bills game is tonight so I have time in the afternoon to putter around.
Enjoy your day

Joyce, you do sound very organized and very excited about going to work FT and also maintaining the CBing you are doing in your house. I have let my exercise routine slip because of all the things we are doing to get ready to move. I can tell that I need to get back into the exercise.
Ruth, your doctor visit sounded very good. It seems like he spent a lot of time going over things with you, that is great. I hope you can get the appointments soon, keep us posted. That is great that you can give the clothes to a family that really needs them. Sounds like Mara is on her way to wearing little girl panties soon.
Martha, you are right about not telling Bill. I was making a pile of things to get rid of and he found some things that we “had to keep”. While he wasn’t looking I did get rid of some of the things. We have wayyyyyyyyyy to much stuff. That’s great that you were able to get your haircut and now have the rest of the weekend to just enjoy.
We got lots done yesterday. I cleaned the outside of the stainless steel dishwasher and refrigerator. Also cleaned the glass front storm door. It is hard to do because once the sun shines on it I can’t tell if there are streaks and there was absolutely no sun today. Then I cleaned the 4 windows in the kitchen. Bill has to do the outside part for that. In the afternoon Bill and I both worked in the basement for over 2 hours. We pitched lots of things and I have 2 boxes to go to the thrift shop. Even with all the pitching and donating we have done we still have about 125 boxes, totes and canvas bags to move. That is mostly the basement stuff and most of it from Bills work room except for the Christmas stuff and the small appliances and big serving dishes I store in the basement.
The problem with getting rid of some of the Christmas decorations is Bill’s mom made us many of them. One of them is a stuffed Santa that is almost 3 feet tall. He takes up a whole chair. Since the living room will be smaller I hope to not get that out and several of the other big stuffed things she made. They are very nice, she did lovely crafting, but they are big and take up a lot of room to put out and store. I will work on that after Christmas and the move.
Our lawyer tried to contact the builders lawyer on Friday but never heard back. We want the builders lawyer to give us a good date as far as when the move will happen. The driveway is in and the yard was seeded. We are supposed to get some rain today so that should help the seed, plus temps for the week are going to be in the low 70s.

Good afternoon all. Stan and Mara were napping, but I woke Stan up to see the end of the Vikings game. They managed to almost lose it, but won it on a last second field goal. Amazing!
Managed to get a load of laundry done (need to get it all put away), and the dishwasher run again! Not a lot else going on.
I need to contact that mom tomorrow to see if she or her mom can pick up the clothes. I just want them gone. We aren’t trying to sell many of the clothes Harper/Sawyer outgrow anymore. DD found a few 6’s and I pulled a couple things for Mara. Leggings, a sweatshirt. Sawyer is really hard on things so a lot just gets donated or some even just tossed. I need to get back to listing winter clothes tomorrow.
Dottie, Mara is still way too far away from wearing little girl panties every day. The plastic pants were so big that they leak; I may pull out a pair of the 2T’s and see if she can wear those. She clearly does not like wet pants, and the pull ups are too much like a diaper to her. She is truly a work in progress.
Going to keep her until tomorrow. DS is still just wiped from last week and so many other issues, so no reason we can’t keep her overnight. Her mom will sleep most of tomorrow, but she’ll be there.
Dottie, I sure hope you hear from the lawyer’s and/or realtor’s tomorrow and get a final date. Why didn’t they put sod down instead of seeding the lot? Around here that’s mostly what is done. Do you have a blacktop or cement or gravel driveway? When we bought our first house, we had an FHA mortgage and we bought from an older guy who built 1-3 houses at a time, mostly smaller starter homes. When we went FHA, it required him to sod the entire yard (he had only planned to do the front yard up to the edges of the house); and we had to have a blacktop driveway (he had planned gravel). But we were able to add both to the mortgage, so it was all good. And done. All we had to do the next summer was put in a fence to keep our toddler in the back yard and made it easier with the dog too. I wish I’d counted how many boxes/bins/bags we moved! I hate to think what it would be now!!!
Joy, you are doing great with your planning. I need to get my behind in gear! Yes, I liked this doctor a lot and his explanations and ideas. If I don’t hear from the pain clinic in the morning, I will give them a call in the afternoon after we take Mara home.
Joy, do you like tomatillos? Stan made a chili with those that is so good. I’m waiting for a cool day to make a big batch of that to share with the kids. It is so good!
ok, not much going on here. Will check in tomorrow!
