Good morning. A bit foggy, at 60, with it staying cloudy, going to 74.
Hope Marsha has a safe trip, I don't think it is too foggy for the flight, but who knows.
Gareth, I am sorry you had a reaction to the booster. I need to find out when my health care provider is offering it. Right now they are promoting the flu shot, which of course I will get. Maybe you will get up today and feel all better. The reason why I said not to worry about trying to do anything with your hair, is most likely for the first week or two you might not be going anywhere, so that would help not having to do your hair. I am in the same boat as you and Pinky, with having to do our hair before we go out anywhere, but when you are in the cast, and getting used to it, I would just stay home, let your DH do the errands, and then you do not have to worry about the hair and bra. Your hand did not gross me out, in fact, I have a couple pictures of my hand before they put the cast on that is very gross, but didn't want to gross you out, lol.
Pinky, yes, this past year, I think I have done so many first's, that if DH was here, I would never have done!!! I think the most interesting thing was learning all about the ways of internet dating through Instagram. A whole different world! If the kids and I can just get all the stuff I want thrown out, over to the dumpster, I will be so happy. I was down there the other day and was just overwhelmed with all of it. Earlier this summer, DD2 and her DH were here and as we looked through things, they said do this and do that, but now I don't remember what they said, hahahaha. So they will have to come out and help when I get to that point. Congratulations on the expected grand SON!!! Funny about the date of birth, as when our one and only grandson was due, DD was hoping he would be born on the seventh, so his dob would have been 7-7-7, but sure enough, he was born on the 6th. Never heard of that card game, sorry.
Carol my birthday is the 29th of December, so that is cool your DGS has that date! I always had decent birthday parties, till I got older, then I had sleep overs, since school was on Christmas vacation. Thanks, so far the kids and I are having fun, but soon we will head down to the garage and get to work, so that won't be fun.
Robin, it is fun just being with the kids, as you know, with Maddie. I like that she really is happy with you. That is how it is with me and my DGS, with him being the first grand child and being a boy. How nice that your DS went to Napa! That is on my bucket list, along with Biltmore. Thanks for copying Anngie's post.
Anngie, have a great time at the wedding!!
DGD is like Chatty Kathy in the morning, so I better just get off here, can't concentrate with her talking.
Have a wonderful day.

Karen, enjoy your weekend. Sometimes certain jobs, like cleaning out the garage, are just better with more than 1 set of hands. There are certain things that you might just have to break down and throw out. The other day DS stopped by on his way home, and asked if he could take his old microwave from one of his apartments and leave it for the garbage men out front. Well yeah, what do I want with it? I have a much better one, and his must be a 10 year old microwave that cost $100. Also, some old golf bags. I haven't played golf since my kids were little, so about 30 years, and I honestly don't know if I will ever go back to it. My older DS got a new golf bag one year for his birthday, so his old one is in there. 2 more things to throw out that take up a lot of room.
Today's activity is going to be to stop at 2 paint stores and get their color sample cards. We will use either Sherwin Williams, that has a store right near here, or Benjamin Moore, which I can get at a paint store that is not too far. I am most likely just picking from various shades of white. Yes, there are shades of white. So a more gray white, a white with a yellowy tinge maybe, and another I am not totally sure, for the den. We will eventually put down new flooring in the den and hallway. Not sure if we will make steaks for dinner, or order in. I got my Amazon Fresh order this morning, and I ordered 2 russet potatoes, and they sent me really beautiful ones, that would go great with steaks we have in the freezer. My DB recommended someone to DH, and DH just talked gave him advice on what they could do, planning wise, but didn't charge him for it, because there was really no work to be done, so the guy sent us 4 fantastic Prime dry-aged strip steaks. They are big enough that we can share 1, so I think we have 2 left. I have broccoli and cauliflower, so will make 1 on the side.

Karen, here they're offering the third shot for 65 and older if it's been six months since your second. I have just enough natural wave that my hair has to be blowdried and styled or it's a mess. I get my hair cut a couple days after my surgery so I'll ask her about going in once a week and having her wash and blow dry it.
By mid morning yesterday I felt fine. So glad it only lasted around 12 hours. I wonder why some people react to the shots and others don't. I think my third was the worst. The second one wasn't as bad as the first so I didn't expect that much of a reaction with this one. I'll really dread the next one now. DH gets his along with his flu shot Monday. I wonder if he'll have a reaction. I'm really surprised that they're doing both at the same time. They would've with me too but I was a few days short of it being six months.
60ΒΊ when we walked this morning. 80's later. Coffee is ready. Time for breakfast...

I have to remember to call my clinical trial to see if they are doing boosters. If not, after I have my 1 year antibody test, which will be in December, if things are still not great, I might tell them I am going to drop out and get a booster. I know that they are saying that some of the northeast states have the most people who have been vaccinated, but then I noticed it was still only in the 60% range. In my area of Nassau County we are close to 80%, and for Nassau County in general we are over 70, I think around 72%, and it is the communities that I don't even go into that are bringing it down. They publish it in the paper every day. The total numbers of new cases on Long Island is going down. We have 3 million people. It had been over 1000 per day for a few days, but now we are down in the 600's, and Suffolk County has more than Nassau. I think the fact that they have forced the health care workers to get vaccinated or fired has helped a lot. The numbers started to go up after that announcement. I know they say that the big hospital corporation had to let go 1400 workers, but they have 77,000 employees, so that means only 2%, and many of them are maintenance staff. Not that they don't need them. Now Home Health Aides have to get vaccinated. I don't know what is going to happen with that, but I know from our clients, there is a real shortage of Home Health Aides right now.

We went to the funeral of the 9 year old boy who died in the 4-wheeler accident. Looking back I don't think I've to the funeral of a child before. Actually, it was better than I thought it would be, but still emotional. Focused on the things the boy liked and how friendly, funny and polite he was. Still very sad situation. I don't know how people handle it after everything is over and the family is in the house and things have to get back to normal. Of course, there is a new normal.
DD, DSIL and DGS left this morning to drive to Florida to visit DSIL's parents. It's a long trip. DGS hasn't been on many long trips, certainly not one this long. I think they are planning a lot of stops.
Gareth, sorry you had a reaction to the vaccine. DH got his yesterday at CVS. He had gotten his flu shot when he had a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago. I have a doctor's appointment on the 18th so I will wait until then to get one or both of them.
Also, Gareth, good idea about seeing if you can go to your hairdresser once a week for a wash and style. I hae a frozen shoulder a few years ago and I can't remember how I handled my hair.
Beautiful day, but a little warm.

Carol, that must have been very sad, always sad to lose a child. Quite a number of elderlaw attorneys got into the field because they had a special needs child, which is more or less under the same umbrella. A number of those children passed away very young. About a week ago our temple sent out an announcement that the granddaughter of one of the women I know passed away after an extended illness. She is good friends with someone from my book club, who told me that the girl was 21, had leukemia for a long time, was in remission so she started college, then it came back. I've been through this before with close friends too. One from an accident, one from complications of Juvenile Diabetes. The parents are never the same afterwards.
Gareth, I think it was the flu shot you had the reaction to, right? Good idea to go have your hair washed and blow dried. Blow-outs have become such a big thing around here that there are places that only do blow outs, but many salons advertise that these days.
Today is the first time I did errands in 4 weeks. I went to 2 different paint stores. It is amazing how many different shades of white there are. I did some before lunch, some after, so also stopped at Walgreens, the dry cleaner, the supermarket to get some yogurt. I am beat! I decided I like the Stacey Abrams book, While Justice Sleeps.

Carol, especially sad when a funeral is for a child. I still remember going to a funeral as a young child for my 1 year old cousin who was electrocuted. I can't remember exactly how but something to do with him being in a wet diaper and touching an outlet.
Robin, my reaction yesterday was to the third Covid booster shot I'd gotten Thurs. The week before was when I got light headed and BP dropped after my flu shot that caused an ambulance ride. Hope I'm done with shots for awhile!
I just finished The Wedding Gift on my walk. Highly recommend it.

Good Sunday morning. Whew! A warm morning to start, with it being 67, some towns around here are at 70 already. Predicted storms later, with it going to 76.
Robin, what I had wanted DGS to help me with, in the garage, was with all the stuff I wanted to throw out. He was a big help, of course, as his energy at 14 was more than mine at 67, lol. We made a couple trips to the dumpster, with having the jeep loaded, but then I decided that was enough, as since the complex has just 1 dumpster for garbage, and it won't be switched out till next Friday, I shouldn't hog it. But we did get the all the stuff I had sitting in the middle of the garage, thrown out. Nice that your DS is chipping away at his stuff in your garage. Since you are not planning to move anytime soon, you do not need to clean it out in a rush. I was going to ask you how you felt after running your errands, but I see you said you were beat. Isn't that amazing, after doing those errands all the time, for so many years, that the surgery, you are affected like that? It sure takes a lot out of you, even though we think we can do those errands.
Gareth, yes, I heard about the booster, but I thought I heard that you could get it 8 months after your last shot, not 6 months. They must have changed that requirement. I just want to go through my health care provider, and get both shots at the same time, but so far I see they are just offering the flu shot. We sure are not happy with our hair, no matter what type it is, as I have fine, straight hair, and hate it when I do not style it, as I look awful with flat hair. So I do what you do, wash, blow dry, as I am styling it. But I am positive I gave that up when I was in the cast. Way to think outside the box, with going to the salon a couple times a week! Glad you are feeling better, and that it did not last long.
Carol, oh boy...you are stronger than I, as I do not know if I could have gone to that funeral or not. Oh my goodness, how fun for your DGS to go to Florida! It sure will be an experience for them all!! I don't think we took our kids on long road trips when they were that young. I know we took DD1, when she was 2, up to my parents place up north, to snowmobile, and she was good in the car, but that was just an hour drive.
LOL, I think this weekend is the most I have cooked meals since before DH and I got Covid!!! And of course there has to be one grand child that does not care for what I made. That DGD!!! Oh well, her and I had such a good time yesterday, just having girl talk. It is amazing that kids today are so open to the world, what with TIK TOK, and Instagram, they have close friends in different countries!!! She has a girl friend in England, and once she even talked to that friends mom on the phone! She was amazed at how strong her English accent is. So in some respect, I guess the internet is a good thing.
Speaking of cooking, DGS just asked me what is for breakfast, and I guess what I told him did not appeal to him, as he asked if we could go out for breakfast. Hmm, let me think about that...NO! I forgot to tell you all, sometime Friday afternoon my hot water heater decided to quit working. So officially yesterday, I have not had hot water at all. And still cooking! The dishwasher heats up the water, so that was not an issue, but I did have things to wash by hand in the sink, so I heated up pots of water, through the coffee maker. I have a maintenance request in with the landlord, so hopefully they come here tomorrow, to see about it. Anyway, with not having a shower since Friday, I really do not feel like going out to eat somewhere. And I have food here I can make for the kids.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Karen, I'd think with a water heater even with it being the weekend they'd have been on it instead of letting it go all weekend. You're more patient than me. I'd have been bugging them.
I'm glad my cardiology appointment is tomorrow morning. Hopefully there's an answer that doesn't interfere with my upcoming surgery. I started getting ready for church this morning but was so exhausted after a shower and blow drying my hair. I kept sitting down for awhile and after trying to put some makeup on I finally gave up and decided to not push myself any farther and gave up on going to church. This has come on so gradually over I don't even know how many months that I kept thinking it was just part of the aging process but both DH and my PCP has convinced me it's not. I'm just hoping by time DH gets home from church I feel well enough by then to walk. I hate breaking my streak. I haven't missed a day of at least 10,000 steps since I was down with covid last Nov. I feel like an old lady always complaining about my health.

Gareth, I think that cardiologist appointment can't come soon enough. It definitely sounds like something is going on. I know they are now saying that 10,000 steps isn't really necessary, maybe you should do some other things, like light arm weights, chair yoga, things like that. Let us know what is happening.
Karen, glad you and DGS got a lot of stuff cleared away. Maybe he will come another day to help with more. What did you make that DGD didn't like? I don't know what will happen when Maddie gets older, but now I went over what I would give her before they left, so I knew I would have what she would like. I guess that's why they think she is a prima donna at day care. Of course DS sometimes gives her things she doesn't like that much. She has a pretty broad palate though. The other day she was eating Quinoa. She does love peas, salmon, and fruit. She doesn't love salmon burgers, but loves mahi mahi burgers, but I don't know if they get to Trader Joe's all that often.
Carol, so sad about a 1 year old dying like that. When a child has a disease, that's one thing, but an accident like that is so hard.
The NY Jets are playing right now in London, but DH was playing around with something with the TV and managed to lose the connection, and I am biting my tongue. I am being so good about it. At least the high pitched sound is gone, which was on for a while. I think it is finally resetting. It's a good thing it wasn't me who did something. That would be the end of the word, of course. We also need to get ready for the painter. I don't know exactly when he is going to come, but partially it is when we want them, and are going to be ready for them. I have 2 big windowsill ledges in the den that need clearing off. They will move furniture, but we need to do the other things. At least the bedrooms are in pretty good shape because we put back very little after the carpets, but there is still some.
Last night we ended up making a great dinner. We had a Dry Aged Prime Steak in the freezer that someone had sent to DH after he gave him some legal advice and didn't charge him, he had sent 4, and each will serve the 2 of us. I made Caesar salad and baked potato, and we opened a very expensive bottle of wine that my DGF gave us when DS helped out with a car that her DS had bought where the mileage was turned back, so they want to return it. We are still negotiating on that for her. She had bought it when she first got divorced, not sure why, maybe because he ex was such a wine collector, then she never drank it. I joked with DH that we spent $4 on a meal that would have cost us $750 in a fancy steak house.

Gareth, glad you are going to the doctor tomorrow.
Going to that funeral was very hard. They mentioned the boy and his family several times during church this morning. We had a minute of silent prayer for them. Also, we just found out that a sweet older woman had died. She was at church a couple of weeks ago for the first time in months and didn't look good.
I found a tray that goes on kids carseats so they can have a surface to put their books and coloring books on plus it has a slot to hold up a tablet. It even has a cup holder on it. DD sent me a pic of DGS using it for coloring. I found it on Amazon.
We are supposed to get rain today.
Robin, your dinner sounds great.
